Post by: Kokopelli on 2006 July 12, 23:25:12

I've had this happen before. Did you install a new neighborhood recently? For some reason, I put in a new neighborhood, and my Veronaville disappeared, but the files were all still there. Luckily, I wasn't too attached to this neighborhood, so I just got rid of it. It didn't have any sims.

The only new hood is the one I'm currently playing.

so how can I get pleasantview back to it's proper place?

Well, it'll be a brand-new Pleasantview, but at least it'll exist.

GO to Program Files/EA Games/The Sims 2/TSData/Res/UserData/Neighborhoods and right click and copy N001.  Go to your Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Neighborhoods **make sure there isn't a N001**, right-click and paste.  It should be all good, but if you were playing Pleasantview it'll be reset to default.

Wouldn't there be a .bak file from the original that she could use?

 :P
Don't make me redo Pleasantview all over again.

*Kokopelli beggs on her knees*

Their's got to be a way to get back my old one.. right?

Depends. Is it still there? Do you still have an N001? If not, you must have fatfingered the delete key. Sucks to be you. Otherwise, try nuking "neighborhoodpackagemanager", or something like that, and maybe your neighborhood will respawn. Maybe.

Only if she backed it up.  If she had, I don't know that she'd be asking.

Well, if she'd backed up prior to this one, she could still salvage something. She'd just be backtracking to that last backup. The reason I asked is because I've had problems in Simpe (not recently, because that version was fixed long ago) where my neighborhood package file would get corrupted and I'd have to go to the bak file. Repeatedly. It was like the movie "Groundhog Day" for a while.  :P

It may suck to be me but at least I get help for my game.

Edit: (on a lighter note) This may be the ultimate revenge made by all those maxis made sims I've had fun making miserable. haha

I think you're screwed to get your old neighbourhood back, Kokopelli, if you didn't back it up.

Am I looking to do the dances of 8 disks again? Or should I just hope and pray that the rest of my hoods don't follow the path of Pleasantview.

Brynne's right - back up now to save the rest of the game!  And no, you don't have to reinstall, just follow the procedure I outlined above to get a clean Pleasantview back.

Nah. Lost neighborhood is just userdata stuff, has nothing to do with your game install.

Damn! I still wonder just what I did to get myself into this stupid mess?

Well, as long as the game itself doen't mind pleasentview being gone then I don't either. At least that's what I'm telling myself.
Thank you, you guys are indeed most awesome!

I had this happen to me once and I did eventually get it back, but unfortunately it was so long ago I can't remember how.  You haven't restored it from a SimPE back-up by any chance, have you?  If so, it would disappear until you removed it from the strange extra folders SimPE puts it in.

I also remember seeing a few people say that there neighbourhoods vanished and they found them hidden in some unlikely place elsewhere on their systems.  Have you done a search for N001 on your hard drive?
