Yeah, yeah yeah...I know I'll be probably be yanked to Retardo Land, but... A couple of weeks ago I applied for the "next 'The Sims 2' global advertising campaign" They're looking for filmmakers and storytellers to put a team together. Yesterday was the deadline, and I got this in my email: Quote Hello, I work for The Sims advertising agency, Wieden + Kennedy. (www.wk.com). We love your movies and feel that you would be a great addition to our team. We're now in the end stages of determining our finalist. Just wondering if you will be available to travel out to EA in San Francisco during the last two weeks of August (18th -30th)for our production? All expense would be covered. Since I received the first email, I've been checking out the IP addresses of the emails, the hits on my site from Portland, and they all point to the advertising agency Wieden & Kennedy. Just in case anyone thought, like Pes did, that I am foolish enough to buy into such a "scam". I have other ways of knowing, too. "Insider info". And I'm a lot smarter than you think. never mind the game play stuff - If you're going to lobby - they need to fix the basic file handling tools they designed so they don't cause a god-awful mess in your game - lot packager, deleting sims, puttting occupied lots in the bin etc etc. They are fundamentally badly designed. Wieden and Kennedy had just submitted us to EA, and EA was going to pick the winner(s) from those 15. Since I was still just a finalist, I doubt they would have been able to do anything to help me at this point. Plus, with my son being a special needs student (asperger's), his care is a little more complicated. School starts for him on the 1st of August, so that was my main concern, just having someone to be around to get him on and off the bus, plus be there in case of emergency.
But don't worry, I've already got my foot in the door for the next campaign. I won't let you down. ;) ETA: I just got an email from Chris. She said they will be doing this campaign again, and are going to call me if something comes up before then. They're keeping my contact info. So they are still interested in working with me.
