Title: Is there a way to undelete deleted characters? Post by: Tyraa Rane on 2006 July 04, 01:15:07 Okay, so a friend of mine accidentally deleted a YA sim from the students bin. Now...I know the game doesn't shred or otherwise get rid of character files that are deleted from the sim bins, since they still show up in SimPE and all that. So what I'm wondering is, is there any way via the teleporter shrub or SimPe or whatnot to get that sim back into the game, undeleted?

Alternatively, teleport them in and move them in. Hopefully either should work, but can't guarantee it because I've never done it. When I delete them it's 'cos I don't want 'em so I've always deleted their files manually since I discovered that they don't actually go away otherwise.

Post by: Tyraa Rane on 2006 July 12, 01:59:07 Hmm...just tried it myself with a test sim in SimPE, and it doesn't seem to work--I can add them into a household, but they don't actually appear in-game, probably because SimPE says they have no character data.
Tried again, in-game, with both the teleporter shrub and boolprop in the family I'd added them to in the first place and an unrelated family--no luck there, either. Looks like the deleted sim is gone for good...oh well. :-\ Title: Re: Is there a way to undelete deleted characters? Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 July 12, 07:00:07 Sims deleted from the sim bin are in a "shredded" state. They cannot be returned to normal, yet will continue to take up space in your game, much like BlueSoup's fat head (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=1487). Do not delete sims from the sim bin. Ever.

Move them into an empty lot, and 1) turn them into townies with a utility like the Transporter Plus bush, Insiminator, or enabling testing cheats 2) make them die a horrible death. :) Title: Re: Is there a way to undelete deleted characters? As the bodyshop and CAS premade sims don't have any info attached to them yet (mystery sim memories, relationships with roomies/welcome wagon/gyspy, or personalities and LTWS yet) Title: Re: Is there a way to undelete deleted characters?
