I just reinstalled the game so I can get you some good pictures.
I will edit this page as I get the pictures.

I really want this one, it would be nice if you can make the seat come in a lot of colors.

Simbaby, have you got pics of the Unleashed wrought iron cafe chair and table?

Maximilian, I like the TV!

Sure! The first two pictures are the ones from Unleashed. The other two are the set from Hot Date.

Nope! the green ones are the ones outside the icecream "bar" in the MaxiMade downltown. I have no idea what the address is, but the corner lot with three buildings, and a large fountain.

Absolutely right. Those green ones are from Hot Date. Also, that is amazing! I miss a lot of objects from TS1.

Those were so pretty, in fact both sets were.  So much nicer than those ugly wooden seats and tables!  And not everyone wants funky!

well .. the red chair is here (http://www.max3d.it/SimSite/stuff.asp?s=2&id=2) :)

as you can see there is some color option..
actually i can't grantee that it works with the previous version.. but should  be...

for the other i can't promise nothing...
that 'cause they are a bit detailed and they will require a bit.. but i'll try :)

I miss a particular chair - the one that was orange, and round, and kind of fuzzy looking. It was on skinny legs.

Maybe simsbaby could post a picture of it. If he/she knows what I'm talking about.

I loved that green cafe table & chair too. Are there even any round dining tables in TS2 at all? I can't remember.

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 June 23, 17:13:20
There's the moroccan one, but it isn't exactly round!  But there is a beautifyl round cafe table at simthingforeveryone with matching chairs or stool - you need to look in the meshes section.

Hey cool idea! Whether or not it was cheap of Maxis to use Sims 1 music in OfB I certainly enjoyed travelling back in time to Sims 1 days when I heard it!

I remember playing the first game a while ago...the graphics are shocking in comparison to today's game, I could hardly play it :D

I was always a fan of the self flushing toilet, myself.

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 June 23, 17:22:46
They used it (Sims1 music) in NL with the Karaoke machine!

The self-flushing toilet certainly saved a lot of time!  I liked the big square bathtub too!

Oh man. I'm loving the TS1 wall textures they have. The palm trees, the bamboo, the hot air balloons = flashback.

I remember the fuzzy chair too, but it wasn't moroccan. It was more retro. Not actually round, but sort of shaped to sit in snugly, with wire legs. Ooo I loved that chair, had it in every house!
And I just remembered, there was a pretty wicker seating set too (came with Unşeashed, I think)

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 June 23, 17:35:47
I think it was fairly comfy for a cheap chair too.

Sorry, the moroccan thing I was referring to was the sims2 dining table because buddhapest asked if there were any round dining tables in TS2.

Ok, got a picture of that orange thing in the catalog, if you make this you really have to create a hot pink color.  :D I also forgot that their was another part of the Unleashed cafe set.

I'm pretty sure a version of those couches already exists in TS2. If someone wants to volunteer to photograph the self-flushing terlet (from all angles), and someone can mesh that, I can code that.

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: Trubble on 2006 June 23, 20:18:47
The statue in the boxers!!

That might be hard to mesh though.

I can't remember what the other thing was I missed... I'll get back to you.

Great idea :)

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: blubug on 2006 June 23, 20:20:22
Around the Sims has a very similar version of the stereo, how about that old-style toilet with the water compartment on the wall (came with unleashed). I keep remembering and wanting more stuff, but it wouldn't be polite now, would it, to make MaximilianPS regret asking what we would like. (Although I want it all :D)
And the Statue in Boxers was a kitsch version of Michaelangelo's David, and I had it in all my woohoo rooms (though I didn't call them that back then :))

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: Jelenedra on 2006 June 23, 21:00:35
There is a mesh in TS2 that looks like the pinstripe sofa, but they're not the same color, and they're not pinstriped...

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: buddha pest on 2006 June 23, 21:09:51
Oh, you know what I miss? The porch swing! TS2 badly needs a porch swing.

That's best left to Maxis though because it needs animations.

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: ElfPuddle on 2006 June 23, 22:00:55
What I miss most are the variety of animations.....sigh

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: buddha pest on 2006 June 23, 22:07:20
I miss the sounds. The sounds made it feel like you were getting sucked into the void. I don't know why.

The sounds on the tv, the music that played when a fire started or someone died, the voices, the neighborhood music. It seems like it was a quieter game than TS2 though.

I miss "Do you canoe?" too. It was scary.

Title: Re: Back 2 the future

I miss the dancing - rock'n'roll and tango!  And the guitar music!

For some odd reason, I DON'T miss the late-night creepy calls. Must be why I have the phone hack now. ::)

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: Simsbaby on 2006 June 23, 22:14:58
I don't miss any of the old music, seeing as it is in my game.

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: buddha pest on 2006 June 23, 22:16:50
The only sound in TS2 that I really love a lot is the little music that plays when someone loses their job.

I don't mind screwing up a chance card as much when I get to hear the neat little tune.

I did have the old neighborhood/build/buy mode music in my game for awhile. I took it out after awhile though because I wondered if it was slowing down the loading time.

Title: Re: Back 2 the future

I miss the gnome workbench  :(

and claire the bear who would come and steal your honey.

Title: Re: Back 2 the future

And Carlos the gypsy guitarist who would serenade you date for a 5 simoleon tip!

Title: Re: Back 2 the future

I miss all of the Hot Date interactions and NPCs.

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 June 23, 22:33:07
Only one I don't miss is Basil the Chef - I had a broken portal problem on some of my lots, and Basil would turn up at the house and go and stand in front of the stove and nothing would move him!  Never did figure out why it was always Basil, though!

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: Jelenedra on 2006 June 23, 22:37:58
Hmm, never had that issue.  :D

I miss all the House Party NPCs too. Stripper cake anyone?

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: Ness on 2006 June 23, 22:46:36
hmmm...  I must be mistaken then, I just distinctly recall the green sets being all over one of my unleashed community lots...  and I never redecorate them!

Possibly another case like the hot date lots - they would be decorated differently depending on what expansion packs were already installed when hot date went in.

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 June 23, 22:49:56
It was really wierd - there'd be two or three Downtown npcs standing at the portal, and then Basil would invade the house.  Invited guests either didn't arrive because the portal was blocked, or couldn't leave and stood at the portal till they collapsed!  I think I sorted it in the end because I replaced my PC and had to reinstall everything anyway!

Eh I'm weird but the thing I miss most from TS1 is them singing the babies to sleep  :-\  Almost two years of TS2 and I still haven't gotten over not being able to sing the babies to sleep

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: Ness on 2006 June 25, 09:58:25
eep!  I'd forgotten all about that until you mentioned it!  I guess sims 2 babies settle much better than sims 1 babies.

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 June 25, 12:16:26
More likely the lack of logic in trying to induce someone to sleep by shrieking horribly in their ears finally occurred to them. That, and whether or not sim-babies sleep turns out to be wholly irrelevant in TS2, since they sleep whenever they run out of energy, or really, whenever they feel like, and it makes no difference at all since they don't do anything anyway.

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: MaximilianPS on 2006 June 27, 12:21:21

what is an "self-flushing terlet" ?

Title: Re: Back 2 the future

A toilet that flushes automatically when it is used.

Title: Re: Back 2 the future

Like the ones that are real popular at movie theatres nowadays because it cuts down on people trying to clog the toilet with paper towels.

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 June 30, 12:25:36
Well, there's the obvious defect that the terlet seat appears to be fused, meaning it cannot be moved up and down. Something must have destroyed the "bone" structure that enabled it to function. Also, the file was full of extraneous garbage. When you re-clone it this time, don't select the box for copying the animations, they are unnecessary and will grossly inflate the file size. Also, the original had a more round bowl and and seat, and the back tank was definitely thicker.

Lemme know when you've made the relevant updates, I already have the code work ready.

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: blubug on 2006 June 30, 20:32:46
It seems pretty low, looking at the pointy circle bowl, (then again you never know- it may have hidden polys inside) but I love low poly objects, I don't mind a not-so smooth spheric bowl at all! (I know I sound retarded, today is one of those days)

Title: Re: Back 2 the future

ehe.. the inside circle .. is a mistake,  i forget to use smooth between the corner..  ::)
btw when J.M. made his part i will fix the details :)

some infos on the file
file size 512KB.
texture are in 512x512 (dirty and clean)

Okay, looking good so far. Now, somebody mentioned that the light on it would light up when somebody used it. I think I have a pretty good idea how to go about doing that. Can anyone get pictures of the TS1 terlet in action, and when it lights up?

Max:  Can you add a "mesh group" and "materials" (append them to the mesh groups and materials) section, for the light, specifically, and then texture that light accordingly? You may wish to consult the "burglar alarm" as an example of an object doing this.

Title: Re: Back 2 the future
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 July 02, 08:44:53
I don't think this is the right approach. I had a slightly different idea, if you could get the side display thing, if you can even make it out, and incorporate it into the clean/dirty textures for an "on" and "off" mode for each.

However, I can barely see it and certainly can't make out what it is. And TS1 doesn't seem to have it in any higher resolution, you can't zoom in any closer. Perhaps we should just pronounce the object as I presently have it assembled "done" and do the official release. Unless you can tell what exactly that is.

I got that earlier today on MTS2 and haven't got a chance to play with it yet. From the screenshots, it looks fab though. I'm really loving all this Sims stuff you've been doing for Sims2. If only Maxis had thought of it :P

^_^

Maxis actually promised to make some Sims objects available for download at their site before the base game came out. I guess they meant the tall shrub. That's the only thing they did a remake of. That's why I registered the game, I remember being happy that I would be able to DL a lot of stuff from Sims1 made for sims2 more often. They don't make anything worthwhile, and I'm not happy with an object a season. They probably want to push everything hideous in EP's :)
Anyway, there's always better stuff on player-sites. I love downloading, thanks Max!

Maxis doesn't even include the website downloads in the expansion packs anymore.

Yup. So you buy a legal game and register it. And get 'kewl' downloads from the original site. And have a right to bitch about the bugs on the BBS. Slinking away now, getting off topic.
