Title: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: Ellatrue on 2006 June 18, 22:54:08 This was originally a starter home, before I furnished it, and added the fence to the roof. Now it is about 43,000.
Essentially, it was built with the principle that walls are expensive, but roofs and foundations are not. front: (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y179/Ellatrue/Sims/snapshot_90e434e7_b18e7852.jpg) roof (yes, that's a driveway- but it functions, so think of it as a landing pad for your helicopter) (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y179/Ellatrue/Sims/snapshot_0000000a_d1a0c0b5.jpg) main floor (note stealth stairs): (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y179/Ellatrue/Sims/snapshot_0000000a_31a0c479.jpg) basement: (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y179/Ellatrue/Sims/snapshot_0000000a_91a0bd69.jpg) Nice details: I mostly wanted to use cheap objects, but since a headmaster visit is one of the criteria, I felt that I had to go expensive for some things. But I feel that the "cold and evil" aesthetic is maintained well throughout. (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y179/Ellatrue/Sims/snapshot_0000000a_b1a0c4cb.jpg) A bed within a few steps of the buffet table, for pregnant sims, and dining with an excellent view of the garden: (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y179/Ellatrue/Sims/snapshot_0000000a_11a0c6dc.jpg) Careful nursery placement: (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y179/Ellatrue/Sims/snapshot_0000000a_f1a0be0f.jpg) There is room for additional reward objects and a hot tub (not included). Vampire room isn't included because I was foiled by the construction of an underground garage, and I haven't installed the second OFB patch yet, so my original street parking plan didn't really work. Which is also the reason behind the driveway on the roof. Still, my sim was able to use everything with no problems, and in my game it works out, because I just use a flying saucer as a car. Package will be uploaded soon. Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: BlueSoup on 2006 June 18, 23:11:37 Umm...so where's the bribe? You do know that's a very important part of the judging right? :P
Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: Ellatrue on 2006 June 18, 23:19:47 Custom artwork, anyone? ;D
(http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y179/Ellatrue/Sims/snapshot_0000000a_f1a0bbd5.jpg) (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y179/Ellatrue/Sims/Snapshot.jpg) Can that count? Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: BlueSoup on 2006 June 18, 23:24:12 It counts for me. I'll check out your lot in a while and give my report to Pescado (I am judging aesthetics).
Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: MsMaria on 2006 June 18, 23:28:44 That's cool, Ella. I really like the basement. :)
Who will be judging? Pes only? The Senate? 8) (Oh, that's right, Senators can't do anything) :P Edit: Nevermind. One Senator is voting. :D Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: BlueSoup on 2006 June 18, 23:31:19 I only know he
Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: MsMaria on 2006 June 18, 23:34:51 Lol, I can't imagine Pes demanding anything. <insert sarcasm>
Well, at least you get to judge the aesthetics, Blue. :) Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: Ellatrue on 2006 June 18, 23:52:48 Well, I can only hope the cold, sterile, budget look is appreciated.
Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 June 19, 01:28:52 Well, you're the first entry. That means you win the dubious honor of being the standard by which all other entries shall be judged.
Your score is thus 1.0 on all counts for house-score, for a score of 1.0. I didn't see a real bribe, though. So you don't get any points for that. Big fat zero. Your total score is thus 0.6. Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: BlueSoup on 2006 June 19, 01:37:52 Well, if that's the case, then it should be easy for other entries to beat.
I think the bribe works, personally. Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: Magicmoon on 2006 June 19, 02:37:01 I thought we were only allowed Maxis objects and no recolors. So how can we have custom artwork and stealth stairs? Should I redo my house? I liked it much better before I "fixed" it for the contest.
Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: BlueSoup on 2006 June 19, 02:51:17 Well, I looked at the content and only saw one recolour of a rug - nothing else. But you're right, it's not allowed. And as for the painting, I guess that's why Pescado said it doesn't count for a bribe.
Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: Ellatrue on 2006 June 19, 06:12:05 Stealth stairs are not custom content, they are a building technique. The pics aren't custom either, they were created by the sim that I sacrificed to the contest. The rug doesn't really need to be installed (I think)- I got confused about whether I used it or not, so I thought I would just leave it in out of caution. :-\
Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: BlueSoup on 2006 July 02, 15:42:28 Ella's house is the benchmark score of 1.0 for aesthetics.
Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 August 02, 00:16:37 Ellatrue, naturally, is the benchmark for house-building, and thus receives the default score of 1.0 in all categories, despite flaws in physical design plausibility, weak but trivially correctable deficiencies in the anti-traipsing department, and somewhat cramped and understaffed nursery. Door orientation needs work.
Scoring: Bribery: 0.0 (no bribe provided) All others: 1.0 (benchmark) Technical: 1.0 Total: 0.6 Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: Ellatrue on 2006 August 04, 05:28:05 hmm, is it too late to add a bribe?
Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 August 04, 05:30:25 hmm, is it too late to add a bribe? No, the deadline for submissions has passed, and besides, I don't think it'll help you win unless you have a really good one.All Ellatrues suck! Title: Re: Ooh! Ridicule me first! Post by: Ellatrue on 2006 August 04, 06:50:24 well, it isn't so much about winning as it is about wanting to improve the score from a .6
The plan was to offer to make a skin of your choice for the sims. Maybe something gray and scaly, like you. Does this mean I can't fix the driveway anymore? |
