Title: Major Errors concering sleeping in beds
Post by: rome_raven on 2006 June 15, 20:03:52
In one of my households, neither of my sims can use the bed so I sold it and bought another one.  After I first discovered this problem, I noticed that as soon as the mouse hovered anywhere in the vicinity of my bed, they'd snap out of whatever I had lined up for them to do. I decided to go to debug mode to see what it popped up.  I have absolutely no idea what it means:

Sounds like the original jump bug, but you appear to have cars so it can't be that.  Is it one sim, or both?  Does the same thing happen with toilets?  If so, I'd be inclined to think it might be an invisible attraction marker, in which case you need to check in simPE for that marker and delete it, and the one for the corresponding sim.  However, that's just one possiblity.

Was it a bed you moved from the sim's inventory?

I know there was a Maxis bug from when OFB first came out that made it impossible to use a bed that was moved from one house to another via inventory.

Or something vaguely along those lines.

I know my sims couldn't sleep or whoohoo on their moved bed.

They could relax, but they would JUMP outta the cuddle action.

This does look like the bed-in-inventory problem, but that is usually resolved when the bed is deleted.  Are there any other beds on the lot?  Try deleting them and re-buying them.

Yeah, I had put the bed in the inventory and it is happening to both of the sims on the lot.  I'm gonna try running my game again with a brand new bed and see what happens

If you put the bed in inventory, that is probably the problem. Either buy a new bed or I THINK the first OFB patch fixes that problem.

Yes, the first OFB patch fixed the bed-in-inventory problem, and those changes should also be part of the latest patches.

Well, since the first patch isn't in the list of files at the download page, and the OFB 2 patch is much bigger than the OFB1 (which I didn't install) then I would think it must include the earlier version.

They're usually cumulative.

True, same as each EP includes the patch for the last one, so if you have to do a complete reinstall you only have to patch the latest one.  Otherwise reinstalling from scratch would be an even bigger pain than it is!
