Title: Golden Anniversary Memories
Post by: Dea on 2006 June 02, 20:37:37
I just had my first Golden Anniversary the other day.  In Brandi's memory instead of Skip's picture there is an object, I cant remember exactly what it was bc it was a couple of days ago and I didnt save.  Skip's memory is blank.  Wasn't there a hack that fixed this, or am I thinking of another memory bug?  Has anyone else had it happen?  Does anyone know the cause?

Did Brandi have that as her LTW? and if so did she get platinum?  If so, I'd be inclined to edit the memories in SimPE - even if you find a hack to prevent it happening, it won't be retrospective.

No, Its not a want of hers, but I guess I will fix her memories, cuz it does look funny with an icon of a chair instead of Skip and Skip's was blank.  I didnt save thats why I hoping to find a fix before I went through it again.

Well, when my sims are attracted to another sim, it now shows as an art career!  I have a feeling that something with the new SimPE isn't working right - it was fine before I used that!

I have seen that too...Alot of my sims have misc skill tokens...Im sure you have seen those before right....Some sims though say "misc skill -- gossip from Grim Reaper"  OK who has been gossipping with GR...I deleted those, its just too weird

Quite a few of mine are starting to do that too!  Something odd is happening!

So It isnt just me...I also have some that have various sims names(usually a dead sim) and the toddlers dont know them.

Well, that sound like your toddler used a deleted sim's original GUID and took their place in the character file.

It was Mortimer and Prudence though and they still have character files...Hmm looks like I will have to investigate...I found one that said Therapist too...I havent noticed anything weird going on with these kids...

The therapist is one of the characters like the Gim Reaper and Mrs. Crumplebottom, that you mustn't delete or mess with in any way!

Oh I know that...I just deleted a memory about gossiping with the therapist that a toddler had...I havent deleted any actual character files

Oh, well, I suppose deleting memories can't hurt, but unless you sort out why they are getting these memories in the first place, it'll probably keep happening.

Probably, I  need to play a completely clean game for a day and then look at their memories...Then I would know if a hack is doing it  :-\

Have you tried removing all non-awesome hacks?  OBviously existing memories won't be changed, but just playing a family whose memories you have cleaned up shoud be enough, then if they gain any more wierd memories.... maybe it's not a hack.....

True and it shouldnt be hard to remove non-awesome hacks...All I have is Insim and Inteen

Just make sure you aren't deleting tokens...JM says you should never delete memory tokens.  Sometimes they show up with another sims name, sometimes the first sim listed in the neighborhood such as Mortimer, because SimPE hasn't been programmed yet to recognize what those numbers mean.  I've seen these on Toddler skill tokens or Misc skill tokens in the memory editor.

In the game, before I got the no family reunion spam fix from JM, when my sims would have a family reunion, the icons would often show random objects.  I was puzzled by this, but finally chalked it up to a quirk in Maxis design as it didn't seem to be hurting anything.  I think it's purely cosmetic.

I recently had a token attributed to the GR - I imagine that's the same thing as Mortimer and the potty training! (Or whatever).

Oh crap in one of my neighborhoods I nuked everything in their memories, and I was going to leave just the tokens, but I did away with everyhting...I only have 10 playable sims in that neighborhood

Well, why not just give them new ones?  Obviously the npcs would take some doing, but at least you could do it for your playables.
