Teen Enabled Adult Wants v1.06 for TS2BV v1.0p0
Made by: syberspunk

:!:  Note:
Use the zadultsdisabledgosteadywant.package hack if you do not want the Go Steady wants to show up for Adults and older.

This hack enables romantic wants between teens and adults. Since I have been using JenFlower's Woohoo Teens, which can be found here (http://www.insimenator.net/forumdisplay.php?f=78), Teens would not get romantic wants for their adult partners and vice-versa. As such, this hack is meant to be a complement to the Woohoo Teens, and is not very useful unless you have it.

Edit: 6/29/2006
According to WildKitten (over @MTS2), these hacks might actually be compatible with the InTeen. :shrug: Up to you to try. Remember, as always, use at your own risk. And always remember to back up your data.

Note: I am not sure if it enables woohoo wants for teens. Theoretically, it should. In my limited testing, it does enable flirt, kiss, and make out wants as you can see below.

Edit: 6/2/2006
For those who do not want Pescado's changes, use the teenenabledadultwantsrandomflirts version. This version keeps the default Maxian behaviour.

INSTALLATION:
This MUST be in your Downloads folder, typically found under:

C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\My Documents\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\Downloads

Compatibility:
This hack is probably compatible with even the basegame. Please report back if you find otherwise. Again, this hack is only useful if you have Woohoo Teens.

Edit: I forgot to mention, this hack will conflict with Pescado's norandomflirtwants hack. I have included the changes he made by default.

Edit2: This hack will now conflict with wfsanity hack.  I have included the changes he made by default (basically it checks to make sure that wants roll up only for sims who are actually physically on the lot and not just off-world).  As a result, this hack must load last in your game if you choose to use both.

This hack is compatible with most, if not all mods by MATY crew (Pescado, TJ, and CBoy), dizzy, and probably more. Again, up to you to help me determine any possible conflicts.

:!!:REMINDER and fine print (to cover my ass ) :
Remember to ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR DATA BEFORE INSTALLING NEW HACKS. By using this hack, you agree to absolve me of any responsibility or liability for any potential loss of or damage to your data. You have been warned.

:!!:HOW TO REPORT: Conflicts, problems, or errors
I would appreciate any constructive criticism and feedback that is actually helpful. With that in mind, it would be helpful, when reporting any conflicts or issues, that you include the following:

1) thorough but reasonably brief description of what you were doing
2) clear, comprehendible explanation of your problem
3) list of hacks that may be related to romantic wants
4) archived (.rar or .zip) of log produced by error

HOW TO PRODUCE AN ERROR LOG:
1) Open the cheat menu - Ctrl + Shift + C
2) Enable the debug mode - Type: boolprop testingcheatsenabled true
3) Hit Enter :P
4) Play as normal until an error occurs. If an error dialog box pops up, note the location of the error log and choose Reset. If the error pops up repeatedly, choose Delete and exit WITHOUT SAVING!
5) Post your error log here, preferably as a .zip or .rar archive.

Posts which do not include a clear description of what your problem is will be pretty much ignored. (i.e. posts such as "This does not work! I am taking it out! You suck! Nice try! etc.") I can't and won't help you if you don't explain what's wrong.

Please be nice when trying to explain your problem and I might be nice and help you.

:grouphug: Finally, my Thank Yous go to:

J.M. Pescado, twojeffs, dizzy2, and jase439 for being excellent tutors and providing excellent models in their mods. As always, thanks to those creators who've put out some excellent modding tutorials, Quaxi and co for SimPE, and dizzy2 for disaSim2, and the finally letters T and S, and the number 2, all of whom, without which this mod would not be possible.

Thanks to Theo for pointing out a significant bug. :)

If I left anyone out, I apologize in advance. You know who you are and you deserve my thanks.

Version History:
v1.01 - Converted to 0x8007 format for backwards compatibility (I hope :P)
v1.02 - Fixed bug with random flirts showing up for toddlers, dead sims, and other sims regardless of gender pref (needs further testing)
v1.03 - Pets compatible version
v1.04 - Tweaked Go Steady want
v1.05 - Added changes from wfsanity hack (see Compatibility section for details)
v1.06 - Updated for Bon Voyage

Here you can see townie Meadow Thayer roll up wants for my test subject, appropriately named Sujet Dexpérience ;)

Well, I could certainly use this as I have Jenflower's mod (decided to change from Inteen seeing as I don't really want any pregnant teens), but is it possible to make a version without the norandomflirt stuff?  I have this little fun thing going on where if they ask to flirt with someone, if the opportunity comes up they get to do it (well, it's what they WANT, yes?).  Also, I like to see who they choose and all that and ... well, I don't want it removed!  Any chance???  If not, maybe you can tell me how to do it?

I agree -- I usually keep the norandomflirt active, but every so often I decide the neighborhood has been too quiet, and take it out to see what kind of chaos results. :)  A version of this without that would be good.

When you say it must be in your Downloads folder, does that mean it can't go in a subfolder?  And I know one of TJ's pregnancy for all hacks has to be in the same folder as Jenflower's, but loaded afterwards, so is this like that one?

Hrm. Really? Interesting. Well, what I mean is... that sims should get romantic wants for their adult partners... not necessarily 'adult' wants that only adults get. I would have thought that the InTeen would already allow this. *shrugs* I wasn't sure exactly how to word it, and it felt too cumbersome to say teenenabledromanticrelatedwantsforadultpartners or something like that. :P I usually try to keep the hack name short and descriptive, but provide more detail in the thread/post/RTFM.

Sorry if that was confusing. With the majority of my mods, you can use subfolders. The exceptions are any mods that may possibly conflict with other mods because they modify the same thing. Usually, I mention the conflict, and if it is with a mod that I personally use, I usually try to incorporate those changes into my mod as well. In those cases, it should be mentioned in the thread/RTFM and for those mods, they usually MUST be in the SAME folder as the other mod it conflicts with. My mods should load last in order for them to work correctly.

In some cases, I completely incorporate all of those changes/features from the other mod (assuming I have permission) which results in my mod superceding the use of the other mod (i.e. you wouldn't need the other mod anymore because my mod includes that functionality). I usually don't bother mentioning this because I think it would be less confusing for users if all they have to do is pop in my mod and make sure it loads last. But I guess I forget that other people may not organize their mods in the same way that I do. :P

Anyways, an example of this is my vampirecoffinmod, which only includes a change from Pescado's vampirefixes, but you still need both if you want all of his fixes. I have to include one of the changes because they have one BHAV in common. It should be safe to use together, but my mod has to load last. If you don't want to worry about load order... you could combine both hacks. Just extract all the BHAVs from vampirefixes and import them into my vampirecoffinmod. Just leave out the one that is the same (i.e. if they both modify say Instance 1002, then only keep mine - I don't remember the actualy Instance number off the top of my head). :P

An example where I include all the changes of one mod into my own is randomflirtswants. With teenenabledadultwants, you can delete randomflirtwants if you want. Or you can leave them both in if you're lazy like me and don't want to worry about maintenance so much. For most people, you can just plop the hack into your downloads folder. I purposely named this hack so that it would after Pescado's.

Personally, I keep all of my global game mods in a folder 'gamehacks' for this express purpose due to hacks that have minor conflicts which rely on load order. Even if you do use subfolders separated by creator's name, in most cases I would think that 'syberspunk' would load last. If you're not sure, you should probably open a command prompt, drill down to the path where your Downloads folder is, and do a directory list. This theoretically should be the order in which your game loads your hacks. There's a much more detailed thread over on MTS2 regarding load order over here (http://modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=144086).

Of the hacks that I have made, the only ones that depend on load order are the zvampirecoffinmod, zhidetryforbabyoptions (and it's various flavors), and this teenenabledadultwants. These must load last, which can either be accomplished by making sure they are in the same folder as the mods they conflict with, or in a folder that loads last compared to the mods that they conflict with. All of my other hacks should not depend on load order.

Ok, so that was the long answer. The short answer: yes, you can use subfolders. :P

And I have now uploaded a version without Pescado's changes. :)

I think I got lost in the double negatives, so just to make sure I got this right:

If you DO want to have the functionalty of Pescado's norandomflirts, install teenenabledadultwants.package and remove norandomflirts.package.

If you do NOT want the functionality of Pescado's norandom flirts, install teenenabledadultwantsrandomflirts.zip.  (And, of course, do not install Pescado's norandomflirts.package.)

Izzat rite?  :)

Thanks!  ;D

I think I might have learned that this one requires Nightlife or maybe Open For Business.

I tried it without either of those installed and got a "Bad Wants Controller - #112" message as soon as I entered a household. (No Nightlife or OFB installed.)  But I'm not sure because I got the same message when I entered that same household after taking it out, with or without Pescado's norandomflirts installed.

The one sim who was home at the time had 4 of 6 slots empty, but she got her whole set back as soon as she satisfied one of the two wants that were there.  (Adult, female, mom, wanted to help one of her many children with homework.  Now she wants to help a bunch more of them them with homework.  In other words, I didn't test it with teens so I have nothing to report about its actual function.)

I forgot about the format compatibility issue. I'm not sure if this will solve your problem. NL introduced a new format which is not readable by older versions of the game. I now updated the format to be backwards compatible, but usually it would report a different type of error message (usually a bad gosub or something). This "Bad Wants Controller" message is new to me. For those of you who have NL, OFB, or later, you don't have to update. If you have older versions (Uni, Holiday, or just the basegame), redownload and test please. If you get an error message, please attach the error log and I will try to figure out if I can fix it. Thanks. :)

It's true teens don't get romantic wants for adults they have talk to and thinks like that but no kiss/makeout/flirt

Thanks, Syberspunk!  I have been wanting something like this since I got JenFlowers' Woohoo for teens, but since they never rolled the wants, it never made sense to pursue it.  I like the Have Very First Woohoo want that YA's get when they are on a date or fall in love with someone special, and teens don't get that.  I'm not sure if this will enable that or not, but it would be great if it did.  I had Chloe Singles ask Ripp Grunt on a date, and all they got as far as wants were talk, dance together, play, entertain, etc.  In other words, no romantic wants, even though they could kiss, make out, and woohoo all they wanted because of the woohoo hack.  So I was disappointed and didn't try anymore teen/adult dates.  I wondered if InTeen allowed this, and whether it allowed chemistry bolts to show up in the relationship panel between adults and teens.  If so, I was considering trying it, even though I don't want teen pregnancy or miscarriages.

EDIT:  Will this allow wants in the reverse direction?  That is, will adults be able to have romantic wants for teenagers they may be romantically involved with?  I mainly use this for my Romance sims that romance all the townies and NPCs, including the paper boy, LOL.

Oops!  Yeah, after "Bad Wants Controller" it said something about Gosub.  I'll give the new version a run! :)

Oddly, even with neither teenenabledadultwants nor norandomflirts installed, that same error is popping up.  That indicates that I have something else lurking under a rock in here.  It doesn't seriously affect game play but it's worrisome enough that I'm sifting through my downloads looking for potential culprits.

I think the only hacks I have installed that aren't from MATY are Inge's goodies, Danny's toys from DMA Sims, and the one from Jenflowers that prompted your teenenabledadultwants project.  So far I haven't found anything that affects wants except for teenenabledadultwants and Pescado's stuff.

Progress report:  The prognosis is good! ;D

Removed DMA stuff.  Started game with neither hack installed.  Got an error about "request to run animation for third time" but otherwise no other errors.

Installed new version teenenabledadultwants hack.  Played three households in my test neighborhood.  No errors!

(In case someone missed it: This is with University installed, but not Nightlife or Open for Business.)

Conclusion: Whatever you did to accommodate the change for NL and OFB is working!  ;D

Suspicion: There might be a conflict with the DMA Sims stuff that I had installed.  This will require more investigation.  I thought I had cleaned it all out, but Danny's Controller (yellow thing) and Appearance and Outfit Changer (red thing) are still functional in my game, but only with the functions of his earliest version.  I'll have to do some more meticulous housekeeping in my Downloads hierarchy to figure out what's happening there.

Preview of Coming Distractions: There were no teens in my test neighborhood so I played the Forth household, where I originally encountered the error, until all of Sally Forth's kids grew to teenhood.  Gave 'em all the Knowledge aspiration because as young adults, Knowledge sims seem to be quickest to develop the desire to gain knowledge of the carnal kind directed toward a specific target.  Now I just need a more mature /v/i/c/t/i/m/ partner to test the rest of the functionality.

Fortunately, that's pretty easy -- Danny always starts his files with 'DMA', so a search for that will turn up strays.  I keep all his stuff in one sub-folder so I can disable it en-mass if need be, and having them all named 'DMA_*' made it easy to move there.

I just put this hack in last night, but haven't hit any teen/adult pairs yet. I have the DMA stuff installed (pretty much all of it -- I got a VIP membership there), so when I do, I'll see if it causes any conflicts.

I supect that my lurking Danny file came from the ancient days of DMA Sims before he started using the "DMA" filename preface, so finding the elusive file might be an adventure.

Meanwhile, back at the hack at hand, I discovered that the inverse situation works, even for an NPC.  Here we see the infamous reprobate, Melissa Fancey, moments after she met teenager Alexa Forth.

(http://thesims2.simshost.com/images/ts2screens/n015/forth/forth_0001_melissa_wants.jpg)
Melissa wants to flirt with Alexa.

Melissa is still a townie but when she showed up, I wanted to give her a tune-up.  So I snagged her with Merola's Mind Control Mirror and used JM's Lot Fixer to upgade her.  When she rolled up some wants, there it was in the pole position!

I don't think this counts as a random flirt want.  Melissa would flirt with the refrigerator if she could figure out how.

Hehe. Well I hope that means it is working for you. It looks like Melissa is an adult townie, right? I don't remember.

As for the 'random' flirts, well Pescado's norandomflirts mod was to stop sims, who are already in a committed relationship (Going Steady, Engaged, or Married) from rolling up wants to flirt with random sims. Exceptions are when sims are already in love with a 3rd (or 4th or more :P) party or if they are a Romance sim or something like that. I liked this idea, and I had been using his mod forever, so that's why I wanted to incorporate it into this mod. In order to enable romantic related wants to roll up for teens and their older partners (and vice versa) I had to modify that same BHAV.

So far all the other romantic stuff seems to roll up, but I haven't yet seen any woohoo related wants. There may be another check somewhere for age that I haven't caught. For now, I'm gonna keep play/testing to see if they eventually do roll up. If not, I may have to do some more digging.

Yea, Melissa is an adult townie, and one of the more randy ones at that. :)  She's always farting hearts at pretty much any sim she sees. She's primarily a lesbian in my game, and I think she's hit on or woohooed every willing female in p-view already. :)

Hehe. I love to hear about things like this, especially since I don't play as often as I mod.  :D

By the way, I have updated the teenenabledadultwants version (the one with Pescado's changes). Theo thankfully pointed out a bug that I didn't notice. I tweaked the code a bit, and the change caused flirt wants to roll up for toddlers, dead sims, and sims that don't meet gender pref requirements. This should be fixed now, but definitely needs testing, as this error did not happen in my game, but that's only because I tested very briefly. I should be playing/testing some today, and hopefully this won't happen.

This bug should not affect the version with the randomflirts/default Maxis code. You only have to update if you have the version with the norandomflirts included.

If anyone is interested in the details, I moved one of the lines that checks whether romance in capable between two sims further down. I had been using this code for my norandomcrush fix to the holiday mistletoe as an added check. However, I discovered that it was preventing sims who were already in love from having the options because their gender pref did not match. Specifically, I had managed to get Don Lothario in love with my test subject (who was male), but Don's gender pref was still overwhelmingly hetero. As a result, the gender pref check was disabling the options even though Don had red hearts set for my test subject. I moved the romance capable test further down, after the tests for 'Romance' asp and relationship flags, and it seemed to work then. I didn't realize that I was effectively removing the main checks (age, death, and gender pref) from that path. I added the check back in so this should now be fixed. :)

Btw, this also means the norandomcrushmistletoe will need to be updated as well.

I tested this with an adult Romance sim and a teen townie.  The adult sim asked the teen on a date.  They did indeed roll up romantic wants for each other, such as flirt, slow dance, kiss, and make out.  But the teen did not roll up any woohoo wants.  The adult Romance sim would roll up generic woohoo wants such as Woohoo in bed, Woohoo in hot tub, Public Woohoo, etc.  But no specific woohoo wants toward the teen sim.  That may not be related to this mod though, as I've seen that happen on dates with Romance sims.  Unless it's a Woohoo with X accompanied by a Woohoo in car, it's usually just one of the generic woohoo wants.  The teen townie would roll up flirt, then kiss and make out, but after doing that, instead of the want to Woohoo with X rolling up, it would roll up to pleasure sim wants such as jump on sofa, soak in hot tub, etc.  But it was still a lot easier to have a dream date with the flirt wants enabled both ways.  :)

Ahhh, kinda what I expected. I toyed around with some test situations and I still didn't have woohoo wants roll up myself.

I have a sneaking suspicion that there maybe some other checks for this that prevent woohoo from rolling up for anyone younger than adults. I am pretty sure this is probably the reason why woohoo wants don't seem to roll up for teens. I poked around in the WantTrees package and I found something that I think is the want tree for woohoo, and it looks like it is locked for teens and younger (there is a value that is set to false for teen and younger, but it is set to true only for adult and elder). I am not positive this is the only reference and whether modding this would have any real effect as I usually tend to stay away from core files and don't have much experience with them anyway. If anyone wants to try it, open the WantTrees.package and look for Instance 0X0E198459. Just remember, if you modify this file, you should back it up first. Modifying core files such as these, similar to Squinge's mod that enables the Uni career related LTWs, means you will have to restore the originals before installing new EP/SPs.

I've updated the first post to reflect this info. If I actually get this to work, maybe I'll post it here with the appropriate warning regarding the core files, backing them up, restoring them and what not.

I tested the same scenario (romance teen sim also), and while at first the adult sim would not roll any woohoo want towards the teen, after a bit of insisting - by satisfying every other want - it finally rolled up that specific want.

On the teen side however, it seems things only go as far as making out :P

I might take a look and edit the wants package. After all, even normal custom content is bound to cause problems with expansion pack installations, so changing game core files can be done if you take the necessary precautions.

...I have a sneaking suspicion that there maybe some other checks for this that prevent woohoo from rolling up for anyone younger than adults...

Yup, that appears to be the case.  In my experimenting so far, teens will start the standard sequence of want to (1) talk to, (2) flirt with, (3) make out with, but then roll up some different stuff when "(4) woohoo with" would normally come up between adults.  For me it's not a big thing; it's sufficient that relationships don't have to fall apart just because one partner had a birthday.

Teens do, however, develop a desire to Go Steady with their lovers of any age.  That's kinda cute; but now to satisfy that want I have to try out another of your hacks!  :D

(Does "adults go steady" allow them to go steady with folks of other ages?)

And yup, what jsalemi said about Melissa Fancey.  She has shown in up all 15 of my neighborshoods as a standard townie adult Romance sim; totally insatiable; same flaming pants; same silly haircut; same personality; same Jurassic Park genes.  In my game, her want for Alexa will remain unsatisfied.

Yeah, that's pretty much been my experience as well. But at least now teens have the other wants. I will probably try changing the WantTree file thing, to see if it makes any difference.

Hehe, that's great. And it should work between teens and adults and vice-versa as well. I did some testing and it should work. But I haven't tested all possible cases, so there still may be a few kinks. Before you commit to using it in your 'main' game, I would suggest maybe copying your 'hood and creating/using a test account and trying it out there first, just in case anything goes 'wrong' or what not. I'm still sort of play/testing it myself. Hopefully the most recent changes I made will address the weirdness I encountered.

I just had something creepy happen...a Romance sim has a want to flirt with her grandson!  He just became a child, and I had them use the new "Dance together" option in OFB.  Then I had her use Macro-Socialize on him, and she rolled up a want to "Flirt with Darrell."  They are definitely family, and she doesn't even have the option to flirt with him.  He's just a child!  Very strange.  Is there some option you forgot to disable to check for family??

Just in case it's relevant, the child is the son of Devlin Dreamer, who is the son of Darren and Ivy (Copur) Dreamer.  His mother is Eternity Goth, daughter of Cassandra Goth and a CAS sim I made for her.

Hrm. How very odd. I'll look into this, but the only changes I made were to the age requirements... I'll have to see if there are family checks, which I assumed would have been built in. IIRC, family only spans like 3 generations or so? Right? Even though sims are on the same family tree, the great grandmother does not have a family icon for her great grandson. Or something like that. I'll look into it in a bit.

This is her grandson, not great grandson.  They have the family icon, and she has the option for "Family Kiss".

Yeah, I read your post correctly. I was only mentioned the great grandson/great grandmother thing because I wanted to be sure that was right. I only vaguely recall reading about this, but I don't have several generations in my game to have noticed this personally.

Quick question, which version are you using? The one with or without randomflirts?

That's exactly what you have to do to enable the woohoo wants for teens. That was the main reason for my (very) old want trees hack. However, there are about ten different trees that have to be modded, not just one (I have a list somewhere, except for NL/OFB trees). You also have to find each instance of the want in each of the trees and mod it separately. It's a pain in the ass.  :P

Ahh... I remembered that you had a mod for these core files a long time ago (well it seems a long time ago now, hehe) but since you've moved all your stuff off of MTS2, I couldn't find it anymore. And I figured you discontinued it because of the excessive maintenance involved in updating it for each EP. That's pretty much why I didn't want to tackle that either. :P

But if you wouldn't mind, maybe you could post sort of a mini-tutorial on how to DIY. Maybe include the list you had, what part you have to edit, and what exactly you have to change? Is it just as simple as changing the False value to True? And you probably have to modify each instance and save the changes to the WantTree.package and overwrite your existing one. Or is it possible to extract those specific instances, save it as a separate package and drop it into the Downloads folder?

No random flirts, removing JM's no random flirts package.

So I took a look at the code and... it appears to be done correctly? It should check to see if the sim is a Romance Sim, and then check if romance is even capable between the two sims. For all other Aspirations, the code should check if the sims in question are flagged for Crush, Love, Engaged, Marriage, or Going Steady and then check if romance is even capable between the two sims. If romance is capable, then for all other aspirations (other than Romance) it checks if the sim (the one who's wants are being checked) is in love with any other living sim. If so, then the check should return false and prevent the want to flirt from rolling up with the other sim in question.

1) If the sim in question is 'Alive & Eligible' which checks if the sim is dead, in the same family household, in the adoption pool, or if the sim is an NPC capable of romantic interactions.
2) If the sims are related by blood, which should check if they have some kind of Familial Relationship.
3) If the sims ages are >= Teen.
4) If the sims are NPCs capable of romantic interactions.
5) If the other sim fits the sim in question's gender preference.

Is it possible that somehow the sims in question are flagged for crush, love, engaged, marriage, or going steady?

I made a debug version. You could try using this in the household that has your grandmother sim with the wants for her grandson. You would have to turn on debug mode, and force a re-roll of wants somehow. It wouldn't even be guaranteed that an error would be thrown. It would only be thrown if the want actually tries to roll up, but since it is quite possible that your sim might not roll up the want again, then you wouldn't get an error log.

Essentially, I set all the true values to return an error. So... if it does happen again in your game, it will generate an error log which you can post and I can try and take a look at it. Without an error log, I really have no way of debugging, unless maybe you send me your entire neighborhood. :P

Ok, here's the log file it generated.  Something about the hot tub???

She now has 3 blank want slots and one blank fear slot (I upgraded her to 6 slots using the Lot Debugger).  Her remaining wants are to Dance with Tosha, Dance with Ricky, and the want I locked was to Woohoo with 10 sims.  Her fears are Be rejected for a dance wtih Ricky and Be rejected for a dance with Tosha.

First, no you can't just extract the changed files, you have to keep the whole file intact or it won't work (blame Maxis).  >:(

Ok, here's whatcha have to do to enable the woohoo wants for teens. First, make a backup of the original WantTrees.package file. You're going to be hacking a core game file, so if you don't make a backup you're hosed if something goes wrong. This file is located at Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 2 Open For Business\TSData\Res\Wants. Once you have a backup of the file, open WantTrees.package in Simpe.

Below is one of the woohoo want nodes from instance 4DEAE239. You can use the instance filter to get there quickly.

                      </wantNode>

Every want node follows this structure. I've highlighted the two areas you need to look at. First is the alpha name of the want, these along with alphaWoohoo_Reject are the only wants you need to change. You have to do the reject as well for the fears to appear.

The second highlighted line is the one you have to change. Simply change the False to True. Make sure not to delete the quotes or change any of the spacing. Don't change anything else unless you want to risk farking your game up! You will have to scroll through the entire tree file to get all of the wants. Each want will appear (usually) several times in each file.

Here are the instances that I'm aware of that contain woohoo wants:

4DEAE239
0E198459
4DC7C64B
CDE5E646
CDEAE1C7
CDEAE260
CDEAECA2
CDECA97E
EDE49546
EDEAEC3C
ADE345CE
EDFB48E3
CEA6853F (this one contains the very first woohoo want)

These cover all of the base game and Uni want trees, but I never went through them again after NL or OFB. Those 2 expansions added 41 new trees, but there is no way to sort them out easily to just check the new ones. Like I said, this is a pain in the ass.  :P

Once you've changed them all, save the file overwriting the existing file in the Program Files folder. Fire up the game and see what happens. It will likely take a little while for the wants to start showing up (the trees have to refresh before they will start to show).

Sounds like a corrupted SWAF, actually.

How would that happen?  I've never done a DAC.  This is the original Ivy Copur adult townie that I had marry Darren Dreamer, and I switched her to Romance after he died.

EDIT:  I took out the debug mod and put in the regular version.  I did not save my previous results.  When I loaded up the lot again, she still had the want to flirt with her grandson, but I forced a reroll of her wants, and she has normal wants now, all about flirting, dancing, and playing wtih Tosha and Ricky.  ::)  But no more flirting with Darrell, at least for now.

I don't know much about SWAFs. I hardly touch my sims character stuffeths in SimPE because I'm paranoidally afraid of borking something really badly. :P

It could very well be a corrupt SWAF (in which case I know nothing about it, how it would happen or how to fix it). It could just be a random fluke? This thing is sort of hard to debug and this particular case is hard to be sure whether it was caused by this hack or not. Even with the error log you provided, I just realized I can't be sure if it is caused by an erroneous flirt want rolling up between grandmother and grandson or if it was just a normal flirt want check with someone that is valid. The problem is the params are passed as nIDs and I think the log only lists objects by object ID. The reason why you probably see the reference to the hot tub is most likely because the object id of the hot tub coincides with the neighbor id (nID) of the sim in question.

Anyways, forcing a reroll might solve the problem... but that solution might also be temporary. Let me know if you see any more strange wants like this getting by through the checks. As it stands, the code should prevent these times of wants from rolling up between family. I personally did not purposefully enable any kind of incestuous type wants. If the code works properly, the only way this could sneak by the checks is if the relationship between the sims in question are flagged for any of those statuses I mentioned above: crush, love, engaged, marriage, or going steady. Even though you did change the grandmother to a Romance Sim, it should still check if any kind of romantic wants are capable between the two sims in question. If the grandson is flagged as family, and there are no flags romantic type flags set, then the code should return false and prevent any flirty type wants from rolling up between them.

If you still have trouble with this, I'll try and make a better debugging version that could report which sims are being tested.

Ste

PS. Thanks twojeffs for all that info. I'll probably toy with this tomorrow. :D

Thanks. As far as the flags go, I'm not sayin you would have set them on purpose in anyway, but we've all seen some weird things happen in game before. I think there's that family relations thread in the Podium where Pescado explains that for some family members, certain relationships flags aren't set properly. In some cases, they might be asymmetrical, and only one party sees the other as family, and thus invalidates them for romantic type interactions, but for some still as yet unknown reason, the other sees them as valid. ??? I was just throwing out possibilities, and maybe something you could check for in SimPE. Since, as far as the code goes, it appears that this shouldn't happen. I'm not saying the code is fool proof either, or that my hacking of the code is any better. :P I'm basically just grasping for straws to blame someone else rather than accept responsibility for possibly making a mistake.  ;D

It's ok, I know the game is buggy, and I appreciate your explaining various possibilities.  I'll check the relationship flags in SimPE when I shut down the game.  Otherwise, if I don't see anything like this again, I'll just write it off as a fluke.

Well, now she's rolled up a want to flirt with a kid that her grandson brought home from school.  :P  Maybe I should hasten her meeting wtih the Grim Reaper?  Old ladies wanting to flirt with children is just creepy.

Heh... seems like this granny's losin it. Now this does sound more like a corrupted SWAF as Pescado says. Because the age checks should definitely be for teen or older. I'm not sure how you would fix a corrupted SWAF or how SWAFs get corrupted in the first place, aside from deleting sims? Perhaps the SWAF is mismatched with the sim? Maybe it is time for her to shuffle off this mortal coil. :P

Let me know if this happens to more than one of your sims. If it does, perhaps you should try removing the hack and forcing rerolls to see if you get weird wants without the hack in place. If the problem occurs without the hack in place, it could be a bigger, underlying problem with your SWAFs. However,  I wouldn't be able to guarantee that the corruption wasn't caused by the hack in the first place :( but I'm not sure why it would be the cause. However... if these weird wants don't show up at all without the hack in place, that probably is a sign that the hack is the problem. Perhaps you can try redownloading it in case the package got corrupted somehow.

Is there any chance that Teen Enabled Adults wants could be conflicting with the University version of phonehack?

My sims have developed an anomaly that I'm trying to figure out: When they get an incoming call, or call another sim, they just stand there holding the phone without talking.

The only reason for suspecting this hack is that I first noticed the telephone problem some time after installing Teen Enabled Adult Wants.  (I really should keep better records.  Silly me.)

I don't see how that would be possible. This hack does not modify anything that has to do with phones, at least not that I am aware of. Unless phonecalls trigger the rolling of wants? :P I have seen issues before with the loss of animations while sims were talking on the phone. But that was back in Uni and NL. That was supposedly fixed. When your sim is standing there, do they get a relationship boost at all with the sim on the other line? Do you hear voices but there are no animations? If so, it sounds like the old animation problem. Or does the sim just hold the phone and nothing else happens? No relationship boost, no icon of other sim on the other line, no animations, no sound/voices? If so, that is something new to me.

What EPs do you have? Are you up to date with patches? Have you tried playing in debug mode to see if you get any errors? If so, post your error log(s), either here or in the Oops! I Broke It forum.

Unless phonecalls trigger the rolling of wants? :P

They could, if one of the wants is to talk, or talk to a particular person and that's the person who calls, or to be friends/best friends with that person.  Those are three instances I can think of off the top of my head.

Or if a new person is met through a phonecall. Meeting new people can cause new wants to roll.

(Back after a busy week.)

I'm running just the base game + University.  (After uninstalling Nightlife some time ago.)  I have "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true" in my startup file, but I'm not seeing any errors.  I think I'm update with all patches.

When attempting to have a conversation with another sim on the phone (any sim), they just stand there.  No animations.  No mood changes.  No relationship changes.  No sound.  All the other telephone actions seem to work fine.  I haven't seen any other anomalous behavior in interactions between sims.

Yeah, this is something I've not seen before either.  The only reason to wonder if this hack is involved is the timing of when I first noticed it, and I'm not sure that it started at the same time as installing this hack, so it we can conclude that they two are even related.

I'm still mucking about in my downloads folder trying to figure out the anomaly.  It might be somehow related to the fact that an old version of the DMA Sims controller is showing up, though again what that would have to do with the telephone is anybody's guess.

I'm thinking that it might be related to the way a sim on the phone is sort-of-but-not-really present on the lot as a guest.

I'll try it with phonehack temporarily removed and see that has an effect.

I think I can say for sure that the telephone anomaly is not related to either teenenabledadultwants or phoneback.  I tried taking them both of my game, one at a time, and still get the same results.

I still have some sleuthing to do, but thanks for your help!  Knowing what it's not is a goodly portion of figuring out what it is!  :)

Oh... dear... what have I done to my game this time?  :o

The DMA Sims Teleporter (yellow burglar alarm) has a caller ID function on it.  I use it in my game.  I don't know if that has anything to do with your problem, but I thought I'd mention it.

Syberspunk, any word on whether there are any conflicts between this hack or your adults go steady hack and OFB-P2?

Title: Re: Testers Wanted: Teen Enabled Adult Wants - Random Flirts Ver. (Updated 6/5/2
Post by: syberspunk on 2006 June 20, 10:01:54
Hrm. Still not sure what might be the cause of the loss of animations thing. I'm sorry I can't be much of help. I'll try and keep an eye out for this. But I'm pretty sure I've had several phone conversations since sticking this in my game and haven't noticed any problems such as those you've described.

As for compatibility with OFBp2, I do have an 'official' compatibility list in the Podium. Rather than post a new thread, I resurrected the older one from before. It lists all of my released hacks and their status. I also recently installed FFS, and did a rescan, and they were all fine again, which is as it should be.

As for this hack specifically, I noticed in my game that ex-lovers kept rolling up wants to interact with each other. Some of them platonic, just to chat or what not, but others that are more familiar (to dance) or of the more romantic persuasion (to flirt or give a backrub). ANd while this is kind of cute in a way... it seems almost pointless as most likely the ex-lover would end up rejecting those socials.

In some cases, even if I just had them chat, they would end up having a bad convo, which leads to fulfilling the fear (shortly after fulfilling the want) which ends up just negating the Aspiration gain. :P For the dance together want, those options don't even show up between the two anymore because of how much the relationship has been damaged. Only the option to join in 'Dance Solo' appears, but does not actually fulfill that want. And trying to flirt or give a backrub is just pure disaster only serving to further destroy the relationship. In this case, the sims are already enemies. :P

So I thought I'd ask those of you who have been using this, should I alter this again so that those wants don't show up if the two sims are enemies or have a low/negative relationship? Or would you prefer that they still show up, so you could at least lock them, and maybe somehow repair the relationship (by whatever means you choose) and thus potentially fulfill those wants later? I guess it all depends on how you prefer to play. I usually tend to let a sims wants and fears sort of steer how I play them. I tend to be a benevolent 'god' and try to satisfy their wants as best as possible, so long as it falls in line with my overall plan for their path in life, so to speak. As such, I kind of take their wants as a sign of what would make them 'happy' - yes, I know that wants and fears are most likely just random selection following some WantTree path that they just happened to fulfill, and that sims are pretty much mindless and stupid and don't really 'feel' anything, but this is the extent to which I use my imagination and read into the game in such a way as to personify them.

Anyways, I'm rambling, but the way I see it, rolling those almost unfulfillable wants, at least they are unfulfillable immediately since they would most likely be rejected or are impossible at the time because the option for the interaction doesn't even show up to begin with, seems kind of silly on the one hand. On the other hand, it's not like you can't take it as a sign that the sim sort of wants to get back together with the other sim, or at least repair the relationship to the point that they could be friends again as oppoosed to staying enemies. It's funny though, when the wants conflict, such as when they want to see that sim's ghost or drink them, as if to tell me they wish that sim were dead. :P Then, roll a want to chat, give a backrub, tell a joke, and dance with them. Uh... can you make up your mind already? ;D

Anyhew, what do you guys think? Feel free to post your thoughts here and provide any feedback. :)

Some time before I installed this hack, I had Daniel and Mary-Sue break up, and Mary-Sue would still get romantic wants towards Daniel. They were not enemies though.

I quickly repaired their relationship, so I don't know if the romantic wants would persist or fade away, but surely the game itself is doing this want selection.

For me it's a bit annoying to have unfulfillable wants clogging the sim's want slots, but on the other hand I think it makes things a bit more reallistic - for example, a scenario in which a broken relationship leads to depression.

My vote goes to letting that particular behavior as it is, but an evolution of this hack could let the player choose between the two modes via a stub object or an additional sim menu option.

I don't like having unfillable wants such as these clogging up want slots, personally, but I think this may be a part of the game.  After Cassandra dumped Don for cheating on her, she would sometimes roll up wants to interact with him or even flirt with him, which I ignored.  Eventually they slacked off, but to this day she still occasionally will roll up a fear of his death, even though she is happily married with 11 (!) kids and she and her hubby are elders.  Actually, I'm not sure if she still does that, I'll have to check because I haven't played her house in a while, but I know she still had that fear sometimes after a very long time.  Anyway, I play kind of like you, Ste, and I like to see wants roll up that go along with my plans for the sim.  :)  Even when they are permaplat, I still play to their wants if they go along with what I want for them.

Until the day she died, Cassandra in my game kept rolling up fears of falling out of love with ex-lovers.  Only problem was, they were all already dead.  I thought it odd, until I saw old lady Jacquet rolling up fears of falling out of love with her dead husband.  I figure the maxis-made sims just have some quirks...

Hrm. That's weird. Most of the romantic related wants should have a check for whether the subject is dead. I wonder if that character's data is corrupted. Or it could just be buggy code. Maybe I'll dig through it later.

I actually kind of like that certain wants roll up for exes, almost as if they miss them or what not. But it gets annoying when their wants are clogged up by them, when they are supposed to be concentrating on something else. Like some of my Knowledge sims at Uni, who have their wants clogged up with their lovers when they should be studying or wanting to get through Uni. :P Even when I satisfy them, they still don't roll up knowledge related wants! This one sim's grades have suffered because he kept rolling up romantic wants, and then his only knowledge related wants were to see ghosts. First, it was the ghost of his ex, because he was pissed that he got dumped. And then I had a string of deaths (3 dormies and one playable) and then his wants were to see individual ghosts and a ghost in general. All other times, he just wants to be saved by death or stargaze through a telescope. ::) Stupid sim. That's why you only get a C+!

It's also kind of silly when sims still have fears of their exes dying, and then roll up wants to drink them or turn them into a zombie or see their ghost. Talk about mixed message. :P

I'm kinda fond of the 'see someones ghost when they're still alive' thing -- it's the closest to murderous thoughts the sims get. :)

I've only seen those weird fears involving already dead folks with pre-made sims; now that I think about it, I also saw it with a townie who married a CAS sim who died first. She took the hit on his death, and then had the fear of falling out of love with him for the remainder of her own life.  I don't recall ever seeing it with a CAS or b.i.g. sim.

Hrm. That seems pretty screwy. It must be something wrong with their character data. I looked at the code and it shows the following:

Quote
###
# Group = 0x7F739728, Instance = 0x1006
# Title = CT - Test - Death of Sim
#
# Format = 8007, Params = 6, Locals = 0
# Tree type = 0, Header flag = 0, Tree version = FFFF800A (-32758)

     0: Param 3 == 0; true: true, false: 1
     1: .Alive & Eligible?(Param 3); true: true, false: false

###
# Group = 0x7F739728, Instance = 0x1017
# Title = Alive & Eligible?
#
# Format = 8007, Params = 1, Locals = 0
# Tree type = 0, Header flag = 4, Tree version = FFFF800B (-32757)

     0: Death - Is Sim Dead? (NID)(Param 0); true: false, false: 1
     1: Stack Object := Param 0; true: 4, false: error
     2: neighbor's person data family number (0x3D) == Const 0x13A(Reserved Family IDs):0x2(32765 (0x7FFD)); true: false, false: 3
     3: .NPCs - Check for Non-Romantic/Sociable(Param 0); true: false, false: true
     4: neighbor's person data family number (0x3D) > 0; true: 2, false: false

The first BHAV is the test for the want (fear) of the death of a sim. It calls the Alive & Eligible BHAV where the very first line of which has a check if that sim is dead. ??? It could be that the nID is screwed up somehow. For some reason, and I don't know why this happens, but it seems like even though a character/sim may have a valid Object ID, the nID (neighbor ID) is sometimes 0. I don't know if this is because something gets mucked up, or if it's garbage data or if 0 is a supposed to be valid. Anyways, I went a step further and looked at the Death - Is Sim Dead? BHAV:

Quote
###
# Group = 0x7FD46CD0, Instance = 0x301
# Title = Death - Is Sim Dead? (NID)
#
# Format = 8009, Params = 1, Locals = 1
# Tree type = 0, Header flag = 10, Tree version = FFFF800B (-32757), Cache flags = 0

     0: Verify - Neighbor is Linked(Param 0); true: 1, false: true
     1: Stack Object := Param 0; true: 3, false: error
     2: neighbor's person data Ghost Flags (Routing Behavior) (0x44) Flag Set? IsGhost; true: true, false: false
     3: Verify - Person ID(neighbor in stack object person instance id (0x0)); true: 5, false: 2
     4: stack obj's person data Ghost Flags (Routing Behavior) (0x44) Flag Set? IsGhost; true: true, false: false
     5: Stack Object := neighbor in stack object person instance id (0x0); true: 4, false: error

So it looks like it checks if the sim is linked (whatever that means) and if so, then it checks to see if the ghost flag is set. So maybe, you should check if the IsGhost flag is set for these sims that are supposed to be dead. Have you ever noticed if their ghosts ever show up on the lot? If not, that could mean that they are dead, but something got mucked up and their flags were not set properly.

In the case of the Jacquets, there's no ghost to show up.  But in the case of the dead sim that Cassie had the fear-of-falling-out-of-love with, he definitely was a ghost on the lot he died on.  And his wife had the same fear (Cassie was his lover before he got married), even though his ghost scared her a couple of times.  I'll check his flag just to be sure next time I'm at my desktop computer.

Later: Ok, I checked, and the dead sim definitely had the 'IsGhost' flag checked.

Heh. Oh well. I have no idea what might be the problem... hopefully it's not caused by this hack. Not sure why the death test is failing to return properly unless the game is passing garbage data to it. :P If I ever get a chance, I'll try and look into it, but if it doesn't happen in my game... then heh I wouldn't be able to troubleshoot it. If you have OFB, hang around the Jacquet house for a while -- old lady Jacquet will roll an impossible fear regarding her late husband sooner or later.  Other folks have seen this happen, so it's not just my game. :)

Alright, so I've playtested a few sessions with a hack of the Wants.package to enable Woohoo wants for teens. So far, I haven't had any problems with it yet *knocks on wood* :P

But it definitely needs more testing, so if you do use it, it'd be great if you could provide some feedback. :)

When I get a chance, maybe tomorrow... I'll try and snap an in-game pic or two. In the meantime, test it out if you'd like. Just remember the special instructions since it does modify a core game file.

Finally... I wasn't able to find the 'Go Steady' wants. I still have not been able to get the 'Go Steady' wants to roll up for Adults or older. Admittedly, I didn't do an extensive, thoroughly exhaustive search, but I did look in a lot of the files. If anyone would be interested in helping me search for it, that would be great. You'd have to open up the Wants.package and search through the different instances. Unforunately they are not clearly, separately labelled. If you extract all of them into a folder. You can view the files in some kind of editor (XML, HTML... something like Microsoft Frontpage, Dreamweaver, etc.). This might make your search easier. I was able to find what was hopefully all the Woohoo references this way. However, I could not find any references to 'Go Steady,' 'Went Steady,' 'Going Steady' or other few variations I could think of. I searched for 'Go' and 'Steady' separately too, but till couldn't find it. I may have overlooked something, but in any case, if you do find something, let me know. :)

I'll test this little hack out over the weekend and let you know how it goes ;) Thanks for this! :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Okay played with the hack over the weekend and it worked fine, just a few things I noticed:
 - When an adult and teen are on a date they have the woohoo want but not with that sim in particular, just the want.
- If a teen/teen or adult/adult are on a date they get the woohoo want with that sim.
- An adult  has an obvious attraction for a teen (or vice versa) eg: love hearts in the thought bubble with that sims face in it, fanning themselves, there are no lightening bolts on the relationship panel to indicate what the attraction between an adult and teen actually is.
Like I said no biggy, these problems don't affect overall gameplay, just a few things I noticed while I was fooling around on the weekend (I don't know if they can be fixed or not), I'll keep messing with it and tell you how it goes ;)
Thanks for the feedback, I greatly appreciate it.
I actually noticed this too. That they won't get specific wants to woohoo with that person, only the generic one. I also haven't seen sims get wants to woohoo in cars. Does that even exist? My teen sim doesn't seem to get them. He gets generic woohoo wants for in public, but I also did not see any specific wants for in a photobooth.
When I find the time, I'll try and take a look at things again and see if there is anything else that needs to be changed.
I've never seen a want to woohoo in the photobooth, just the public woohoo one.  But I saw a want I'd never seen before with a YA Knowledge sim.  She had a want to Streak.
Yes, I got that want aswell, it was also a knowledge sim, it came after I installed Family Fun Stuff, maybe it's something they added into the game?  :-\ She was rather outgoing personality wise ;) Never noticed that want before, but then again, it was the first time I played uni after installing FFS :)
I don't have FFS, just TS2/Uni/NL/OFB.  She is 8 outgoing.  I haven't put any sims through Uni since OFB though.  I had some very outgoing sims before with just Uni and NL, and I never saw this want.
On a completely different tangent, who says it's pointless to use this without a teen woohoo mod?  Constantly wanting to woohoo and never getting to do so is one of the great trials of adolescence.  XD
Lol. Well... I suppose... but then you just have your wants (and fears) clogged up by things you can never fulfill either way. I guess that would certainly make it a bit more challenging of a game then to try and keep your teens aspirations high.
Back to the woohoo wants, I still haven't had a chance to play/test things. I've really busy with school stuff right now, so I have been really trying hard to concentrate on that, and it's taking all my restraint to slack off :P and play around with SimPE or the sims. That's why I haven't been around chat either or frequenting other boards as much. I just can't seem to stay away from here tho, and that's bad enough as it is. But I only sneak on now and then, when I need a break from my research, and it isn't as distracting as everything else. :D
After next week, hopefully all things will go well and I won't be super stressed and I might actually get to slide back into slack relaxed mode before the new semester starts. :-\
I was told by the InSIM people to come here for this question, so here goes.
I just downloaded (before I registered) this hack.  It must've done something to my game in particular, because suddenly children, teens, and adults, I haven't looked at toddlers yet, only have the want to tell a dirty joke to people they barely even know.  My sims will soon be in the red save for a few of them have regular wants that I've locked and those'll change as soon as they've been fulfilled.
I know it says to back-up the files and everything and I was sure I had.  Turns out I've only backed-up a few things and wants wasn't one of them. :-[
Anyone think they have an answer?  I'm on a Macintosh with two accounts and the other account even has this problem, though it's only downloaded on the one account.
If you can, I'd prefer an e-mail or PM if possible.  Thanks for any and all help!!
Ok, first which EPs do you have? I think that this won't work for people who do not have OFB/FFS. Although not nearly enough people who DO NOT have OFB/FFS have reported so. *shrugs* So I can't say one way or the other whether or not the woohoo wants for teens works or does NOT work for people who have older versions of the game.
If you have not backed up the appropriate files, what you can do is, use the disc for the latest expansion/stuff pack that you have. Use your browser to explore the disc. There should be a file called 'compressed.zip' or something like that. I'm not sure about macs but I would assume it would be similar. Then go to TSData\Res
There should be a Wants folder. Copy the Wants folder into the folder in your computer, wherever your Sims stuff is stored. On WindowsXP, if you have OFB for example, it would usually be:
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Open For Business\TSData\Res
Just overwrite the Wants folder with the one from your disc. And this should theoreticaly restore things properly. If not... then I'm afraid you will have to revert back to a backup of your Neighborhoods, which hopefully you made one :P, from BEFORE you installed the woohoo wants for teens hack. If you do not have a backup of your neighborhood before you installed the hack, then I'm afraid I can't help you.
If... for some reason you do not have your disc ::) and need a copy of the original Wants folder, I can probably upload a copy of the original files. Just let me know which is the latest EP/SP that you have.
Additionally... I vaguely recall someone else having this problem as well, and they were also on a mac I think... unless that person was also you. Lol. I'll have to check the other thread over at MTS2. It might be mac related? Or it might be the fact that you have an older version of the game, and the woohoo wants don't work for pre-OFB/FFS.
I prefer communication via the thread, that way other people/users are aware of problems, and if they run into a similar situation, they will hopefully have an answer or will be better equiped to report their problem(s).
Ste
PS. The reason both your accounts will be affected is because this type of hack (the woohoo wants part, not the regular adult wants) alters core game files, which will affect all accounts on your computer.
I thought I had read on that first post that it should be compatible with the base game so that's why I tested it out.  That's all I have since no stores but the online ones carry Mac EPs.
And it's worked...Thanks a bunch!  Just had to copy and paste it off the disk.
There are two hacks here. One is the Woohoo wants, and one is generic "adult" wants. The generic "adult" wants probably works with the basegame. I don't see why it shouldn't. I think someone over at MTS2 who only has the basegame stated that it works for them. These "adult" wants pretty much should include all romantic related wants, and basically the hack should enable them to show up between teens and their adult partners, or vice-versa.
The only exception is the "woohoo" wants. This is because there are additional checks for woohoo wants, which is found in the core files, outside of the object code. Thus, the only way to enable woohoo wants for teens is to hack the core files. It appears that this hack does not seem to work for basegame users, and it might possibly only work for OFB/FFS users.
Anyways, in the very least, I am glad you were able to restore your files and fix your game.
I've been running this hack in my game (PC version, Uni+NL only) and just the other day had two (adult) sims go on a big "Dirty Joke" jag. It was right when I started a new play session, and loaded up a household with two sisters in it. They kept rolling up wants to tell dirty jokes to each other...over and over and over again.
By the time they'd both had a good night's sleep, this went away. No other ill effects noticed. It's only happened the once so far.
I didn't suspect that this might possibly be related to your hack, but if I see anything else odd involving wants in my game, I'll report back. If it'd be useful.
Due to size contraints for attachments, I was forced to remove the Teen Woohoo wants mod. That hack will remain hosted on MTS2 for now. I still have to update it anyways. A pets compatible version is now available. It should still be backwards compatible for all other configurations. If you don't have Pets, you don't have to update.
I have uploaded a PETS version of the Teen Enabled Woohoo Wants hack. This version definitely needs testing. Please try it out and report back if you have any problems. I just updated code, but I have not had a chance to test it myself. So please try it out and let me know if it works or not. There wasn't really any new woohoo related wants. If you have PETS, you MUST use the new version.
FYI: Duh... I just realized, you won't really be able to test this until Woohoo Teens or InTeenimater is working with Pets. So I guess we'll all have to be patient. :P
So I guess you can still test this out and let me know whether it's ok or not. It should be, but my eyes were glazing over and my brain started to turn into mush while I was redoing it, pretty much from scratch. :P It involved a lot of cutting and pasting, so it would help to check it, just in case I fracked something up. I had to restart like 3 or 4 times because I lost my place and couldn't remember which was the last want tree that I updated. :P I'm fairly certain I got it right the last time. Heh. ;D
Yea, it does -- I've had uni students make booty calls to their still-teen lovers, and vice versa, and it all works fine.  I can live without Woohoo Teens for now (just bought Pets today), since ACR covers the same ground.  And does it better to boot. :)
That path is true for OFB only.
Always use the path of your *last* install.
If your last XP/SP is Glamour, use the Glamour path. For Family Fun, use the FFS path. And for Pets, use the Pets path.
Other paths are not read by the game.
Depends on which hack you are talking about.  The teenenabledadultwants should work with Seasons.
I also updated the  teenenabledwoohoowants core file hack thingy.  I recently made a Celebrations! Stuff Pack version, since apparently the frankenbuild you get from installing Celebrations! Stuff results in the seasons version not working. :P
I redid it from scratch basically.  Hopefully it is a neater, cleaner version.  I have been meaning to go back and redo Seasons, Pets, OFB (and I guess FFS and GLS), as well as make versions for NL, Uni, and the basegame.  I've just been too lazy about it.
It will happen... eventually. :P
Sorry for the confusion.  Ok, I edited the first post so the link is there.  I think when I updated the first post the last time, I must have removed the link by accident.  You have to go MTS2 to download the proper version here (http://modthesims2.com/member/showthread.php?t=169485).
The seasons version probably works ok.  But I want to redo it anyways so I can be sure it's relatively "clean" and that I didn't edit anything unnecessarily.  If you have the Celebration! Stuff Pack, then use that version.  It should be fine, cuz I redid that totally from scratch.
Balls of confusion...I thought I had deduced the proper procedure, but now I am back to confusion.  I too was unsure which version to use and where I should put it, because of the same issue trudy brought up.  I decided after reasoning the evidence that the file linked at the bottom of the first post should go into the downloads folder because of the filename;  It is not a 'WantTrees.pkg'.  Then I see the last post here which seems to point to MTS2 for the proper packages, I fetch the one I need just to see if it is the same, 'MTS2_396480_syberspunk_PETS-teenenabledwoohoowants' and open it up and it has a 'WantTrees.pkg'.
So...
My question is, if I have all expansions through Pets, should I be using the MATY 'download folder' version or the MTS2-version core-file mod?  I would rather be using a hack for 'downloads', and the file I swiped from here called 'teenenabledadultwants.package' with a date of 10/20/06 seems to be working for me thus far.  If you need feedback on the function of this version, I could possibly provide some, but if it seems to work fine I'm not sure it will help much.
ok, thx.
im getting the celebrations stuff version then and putting in in the wants tree folder.
But i still unsure why there are too direfferent instructions.
I think I remember reading that this things can work from the download folder. But i dont care messing with core files.  I trust your work, and if my game explodes... i'll survive ;-)
Title: Re: Testers Wanted: Teen Enabled Adult Wants and Woohoo Wants (Updated 10/24/200
Post by: syberspunk on 2007 May 26, 07:44:43
I really should separate this into two threads... but I'm lazy.
There are actually two different hacks here.  They work together, but they you don't necessarily need to have both in the game... depending on what you're looking for...
In order to enable Woohoo wants to even show up at all for Teens, you must download the teenenabledwoohoowants.zip file.  This file is only available at MTS2 due to the filesize limitation here at MATY.  This file contains the WantTrees.package which is a "core" file.  You must get the version for the most recent EP/SP that you have, and put it in the appropriate location, typically:
C:\Program Files\EA Games\<MOST RECENT SIMS 2 EP or SP\TSData\Res\Wants
At the moment, there is only an OFB, Pets, Seasons, and Celebration! Stuff version.  When I first made the OFB version, I sorta can did a slapdash job of it, since I sorta had a vague clue of what to do with help from twojeffs (who made the original mod for NL, but had since abandoned the project due to the fact that it requires modifying a "core" file).  However, since then, I have a better [slightly] better understanding of the WantTree.package file structure.  I recently redid the Celebration! Stuff Pack version from scratch.  This is probably the "best" and "cleanest" version.  In previous versions, I think I edited things that I didn't necessarily have to.  As such, I eventually plan to redo the Seasons, Pets, and OFB versions, as wel as make separate versions for NL, Uni, the basegame... and possibly FFS and GLS (which may or may not be necessary, depending on whether the WantTree.package is the same as the one from OFB).
However... this file will most likely only enable Woohoo wants to appear between teenaged couples.  In other words, teens can get Woohoo wants, but only generic ones or ones for partners that are also teens.  So... if you have a teenaged couple, and one of them grows up to an Adult (or YA), then theoretically, your sims will no longer be able to roll up wants for each other.  There is a specific check for certain wants that see if they are valid between teens and adults.  Romantic related wants are susceptible to this age check.
As a result, this is why I made the teenenabledadultwants hack.  This hack can go into the regular Downloads folder.  I called it "adult" wants because it should theoretically allow romantic type wants to roll up between teens and adults (as the case would be for couples that both started off as teens, but one of them aged into an adult or YA).  These wants should include flirts, kissing, going steady, and woohoo.
Now... you don't necessarily have to use both hacks in your game, but they obviously work better together.
If you only use the Woohoo wants hack, then your teen sims should only get woohoo wants for other teens.  If you only use the adult wants hack, then your teens should get wants to flirt, kiss, and go steady with their adult partners (and vice versa).  However, woohoo wants will not show up for teens at all (since they can't, because the "core" file defines woohoo wants in such a way that they are "locked" out for teens).
I hope this clarifies the situation.  I just grouped the hacks together in one thread because they are interconnected.  If you read the first thread, there should be descriptions for both hacks, with different instructions.
Perfectly clear...I do not think separate topics would be appropriate or necessary given the fact that they are supposed to work together, but maybe the first post could get an edit to include the explanation provided above, to avoid further confusion.  Your last post explains it all, so even this might be considered superfluous extra detail work.  I will continue to use only the version for 'downloads' though, as it provides a decent amount of extra functionality without messing with the core file.
Somehow it seems reasonable to me for adults to be obsessed with woohoo while teens are more focussed on other, more casual romantic interactions, anyway.  This is probably yet another thing that shows how old and out of touch I am, however.  A few 'real-life' teens around here are getting pregnant in middle school and the local high school has twelve pregnant girls by last count, and those are just the ones that are going to keep their babies.
I hope you continue to develop these mods as usable standalone even though they go together.
Thanks for the clarification and keep up the good work!
This hack enables romantic wants between teens and adults. Since I have been using JenFlower's Woohoo Teens, which can be found here, Teens would not get romantic wants for their adult partners and vice-versa. As such, this hack is meant to be a complement to the Woohoo Teens, and is not very useful unless you have it.
I've read the whole thread and am still confused ;D. According to the above quote, Woohoo Teens is needed, is this still the case if I have ACR?
And about the conflicts with other want related hacks - does this only refer to modified WantTrees packages or *any* want related hacks? I use JMP's LTW Variety & Sanity and Wants & Fears Sanity and don't want to abandon them if possible.
For the teenenabledwoohoowants hack (that contains the WantTrees.package "core" file), it will conflict with any other mod that modifies that same file.
For the teenenabledadultwants hack, this might conflict with other hacks.  I used the hack conflict detection utility and did not find a conflict.
ETA:  I should qualify that last statement. :P  I did not find a conflict with any of the other hacks that I am using.  I suppose you could infer that I meant hacks from this site (duh).  However, I don't use all the other hacks by Pescado, twojeffs, and Crammyboy (but I don't think I've seen any of their hacks that change the same thing as this one, so you're most likely safe).  Furthermore, I do use some other random stuff by miscellaneous peeps from MTS2 and others, like jfade, Carrigon, Squinge, Monique, Numenor, paladin, and wintermuteai1.  I didn't find any conflicts there either.  If you do happen to find something that conflicts, feel free to report it, that way I could include it in the RTFM.
Thanks for clarifying, Ste :) - so I will try without the teenenabledwoohoowants hack first. It just came to my mind that it will be somewhat more realistic that way anyway (depending on the teen's age) - a romantic and inexperienced young girl dreaming of holding hands and (perhaps) a kiss and an unscrupulous adult who just wants to woohoo ;). Which is exactly what will happen in my Pleasantview (poor Lilith...) ;D.
I finally tried out these hacks - they work perfectly and they don't seem to conflict with JMP's want hacks (which do not alter the WantTree package anyway). I use them together with ACR (RC3d) and WoohooTeens (Seasons version).
These hacks really add to the game - finally, the sims' wants correlate with my plots. It's one thing to hook up a teenage girl with an adult, but another to actually see her want to kiss him and fall in love with him ;D.
I managed to update them from scratch.  I consulted twojeffs, who made the original version for NL waaaaaaaaaayyyy back when he was on MTS2 still (can you believe it's been like over 2 years now?!?!?).  And he pointed out that I missed some changes in the trees.  This is probably why some wants weren't showing up properly or at all.  Sooo... I went back and redid them from scratch.  Since, for the most part, the majority of the Woohoo want trees haven't changed from NL up through Seasons (including Celebrations! Stuff and H&M@ Fashion Stuff), I used Seasons as the base (extracted the wants from there), modified them from scratch, making sure (hopefully completely) this time around that I changed the right nodes, set the right values, and propagated the changes up through the parent nodes to make sure the wants are fully enabled.
Furthermore, I started preliminary work on adding the Go Steady want for adults and elders.  In the very least, teens can roll up 'Go Steady' wants for their adult (and elder... ewwww... but you know, in case you're playing some kind of freakish teen-octagenarian scenario... good luck trying to find a hack to enable woohoo between them tho :P) partners.  Right now, it doesn't seem like it will work the other way around.  But the plan is to enable the 'Go Steady' want so that adults could actually roll up the wants for their adult partners.
I know 'Go Steady' is a bit lame, but it would serve as alternative for couples that you don't plan to engage or marry, but still have some semblance of a 'committed relationship' somehow.  Of course you'd need a hack that enables 'Going Steady' for adults and older (either my hack that borrows the code from the Kitten Killer ;) or the infamous Kitten Killer itself ;)).  Anyhew, I may try and find some time this week to add that in, if my OCD doesn't drive me to do it tonight. :P
Ewww - that's so gross that I might want to play it one day ;D. Not 100% sure about it, but I think I've seen teen-elder woohoo in LizzLove's Waterbed before ;)
I'm really looking forward to the Go Steady part - not only to have committed relationsships between my teens and adults, but also to have a possibility to pair off romance sims without a big fat aspiration hit :D.
Can we have fuck buddies as well?  :P
I second that ;D
lol.  I'd be all for it, naturally. ;)  But meh, I'd be too lazy to try and build on top of some code, or figure out how to change the text from 'Go Steady' to 'Fuck Buddy' or what not.  I mean, having a Romance Sim with multiple "lovers" is essentially having multiple fuck buddies, and with ACR, your sims will actually do the whole Booty Call thing.
Anyhew,  I slapped something together last night and I tried testing it out... but so far, no dice.  I'm wondering if it might be mostly isolated to Family Sims...
Right now, I only made a version for Celebrations! (and H&M@ Fashion) Stuff, just cause that's what's the most recent SP/EP I got installed.  Maybe what I'll do is, throw together a Seasons version, and have the Seasons and Celebrations stuff up for testing.  If anyone would want to try it, and take some in-game screenies of it actually working, that'd be great.  So far, I only tried it on two Knowledge sims.  I kinda just wedged the Go Steady want into the WantTree, so I don't know if I did it correctly. :P
The only thing I did notice was, my Knowledge sim was previously getting wants to get engaged to his lover, however now, he isn't even getting those.  So, I'm not sure if I borked something... or if it's just sadorandom luck.  They are currently not in any form of commitment - I was hoping to see the Go Steady want roll up, and then try to use my hack to make them actually Go Steady and see if it works properly.  They are both Knowledge sims, and one is a graduated Adult and the other is still a YA at Uni, and they are both playable.
I'd love to give the Seasons version a try - at the moment, I have several non-committed adults of various aspirations (except family and pleasure) who all are more or less in love with each other and changing their One Sim incl. related wants by the hour ;). So, if the Go Steady want *can* show up, it most likely *will* show up in my game ;D.
Ok, I redid all the versions last night.  I'm hoping I didn't bork things.  I did some test runs the previous night and then earlier last night, and I could not get the Go Steady want to roll up.  So, I went back into the WantTrees package and looked at the files.  When I compared things, it looked as if my changes didn't stick. :o  WTF?
So... apparently, it is not sufficient to just change the .xml file and then try to overwrite the old ones by using the replace option in SimPE. ::)  Of course that would be too obvious.  It has been a long whiles since I had first done it, and I forgot that I actually had to tediously and painstakingly copy and paste the xml code from my editor into SimPE for each tree that I wanted to change.  Only then did it work properly.
Anyhew... after updating all of the versions (from NL to Seasons and Celebrations!/H&M@ Fashion Stuff), I went back into my game to do another test run.  Using the same couple I mentioned above, I was still unable to get the Go Steady wants to roll up. :-\  Again, I also noticed that the get engaged want was no longer rolling up either... but this may have to do with the fact that I had recently bought a car.  Because now... instead of the get engaged rolling up after several romantic interactions, my sims kept getting woohoo wants and woohoo in car wants.
If you are going to test this out, I would recommend trying it with several types of sims of varying Aspiration.  By the look of things, if I understood them correctly :P, the Go Steady want seems to be heavily weighted for Family sims.  So... in the very least, I would hope they show up for them.  In fact, I think the only time I ever really saw the want to go steady roll up was with a Family teen (I don't have many family sims, of my design at least).  And I also only saw a Go Steady fear on a romance sim.  But it has been a long time since I've played any teens, as lately, I am concentrating on Uni sims and Uni graduated adults.  The only other time I actually ever saw the Go Steady want was with Meadow Thayer, as shown in the pic to demonstrate the teenenabledadultwants hack, where I actually enabled the want to show up for teens who have adult partners.
I am just hoping that it is sadorandomness and that I didn't bork anything with engagements.  So please, if you're using this, give me feedback.  Let me know if you find that engagement wants aren't rolling up for you at all.  I can easily revert back to just the woohoo wants (well not so easily, I'd have to do all the cutting and pasting again, cuz I hadn't done that properly the first time around :P) if it seems like engagements are borked and go steady wants don't roll up at all.
Hopefully I can find some time to test this out on some family sims (if I can even remember that I have any).  One of the trees I modded should be triggered by falling in love.  So it might help to test this out on sims who aren't in love yet.  Another tree that I modded should be triggered by going on a date.  This is what I used to test it out, but so far, no luck with my two Knowledge sims.  (Now that I'm thinking about it, I don't even remember if Go Steady is even enabled for Knowledge sims.  Wouldn't it be funny if that was the reason all along? :D)
I got the seasons version of this and so far none of my teens have rolled up a woohoo want (which I had expected for some of them), but all my adults are rolling wants to go steady with their adult friends, even when they are already engaged. One of them has the wish to go steady with three different sims.
I have to play a bit more to see what is happening with my teenagers.
Wow.  That's... interesting.  I'll have to take a look at the hack.  I'm assuming you have both hacks in (The one that overwrites the WantTree.package and the teenenabledadultwants.package that goes in your Downloads directory).
Do you have Celebration! Stuff or H&M@ Fashion Stuff?
I'll try and take a look a bit later this evening.
ETA:  I updated the Teen Enabled Adult Wants hack.  I tweaked the Go Steady Want check tree.  Please update and let me know if this fixes the problem with sims rolling up wants for going steady.  It should now check to see if a sim is already engaged or married and if so, prevent the want from showing up.
I'm still looking into the woohoo want thing for teens.  I'm gonna do a test run now.
Ok, just did a quick test run.  I managed to get a woohoo want after having a sim ask one of his lovers out on a date.  I probably would have to do more testing, but it appears to work.  Hopefully it isn't only isolated to just dates.  Want Trees are kinda funny.  Woohoo gets triggered usually after making out, so you'll have to actually get on that "path" to have the wants satsified, from flirting, to kissing, to making out, and then woohoo.  Other woohoo wants, like the number related ones, usually roll up after having achieved X number of woohoos already.  Like woohoo 5 sims come up after you've done woohoo with 3 sims, and so on and so forth.
Teens are also kinda funky because pretty much one of their want slots is deadlocked at Go to Uni, so you're kinda crippled that way. :-\  Otherwise, it's pretty much sadorandom luck.  My test teen (that I've used in these pics) used to get woohoo wants a plenty when he was first rackin up the make outs and dates.  But lately, he's just obsessed with wanting to dance with his lovers and that dumb, stuck Go to Uni want.  After multiple rerolls using the lot debugger, I grew tired.  I attempted to have him go out on a date with one of his lovers, but he only found her "meh" when I had him check her out.  So, he wasn't even rolling up regular flirty wants for her.  Just crappity go out, dining, and play games (bowling, cards, etc.) which is mostly my fault, since I actually bought those things for that household ::)  Anyhew, I finally managed to get the woohoo wants to roll up after asking out a 2 bolt lover.  I finally got down the flirt path to make out and then the woohoo wants rolled up. :)
(http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c237/syberspunk/TS2%20mods/teenenabledwoohoowants/teenwoohoo.jpg)
Of course, this still needs some playing around with, to see if they will roll up at other times.  But at least we know that it works for dates.
What teenenabledadultwants.package???
When I downloaded the Seasons version at MTS I believed that I would include all necessary files and that the separate hacks (listed at the top) were only for those who did not want the teen/adult wants. The read me also mentions only the WantTrees.package, which does not go in the downloads folder.
I will try the new hack later, because the "going steady" wants are really over the top, everyone wants to go steady with everyone else, there is no check for engagement or marriage (they want to got steady with their spouses or other sims they are not married to). The other wants that are appearing in a big way (for teens and adults alike) are the pet related ones (want a puppy/kitten/pet), but this could be an effect of the latest seasons patch, which seemed to have brought them back.
I do not have celebration/H&M or any other of those mini-packs. I stick to the real expansions.
P.S.: I also do not use woohoo teens, only ACR and do not have teenage/adult relationships or other hacks related to it.
P.P.S: The ability to read is really an advantage. I intentionally did not download the teen enabled adult wants hack, because I did not need it (see above). Maybe I should try it with both files, however.
Ahh... I see.  I can understand how totally confusing my post can be.  I'm sorry for that.  There are actually two separate... but related hacks here.
The teenenabledwoohoowants.zip (which, at the moment, can only be found on MTS2, due to the file size attachment restrictions here).  This file contains the WantTrees.package which must go in the appropriate Wants folder for the most recently released EP/SP you have installed.
That hack should enable woohoo wants to actually show up for teens... and I now recently added the Go Steady wants for adults.  So... actually is my fault that the Go Steady Wants are running rampant in your game.  As these wants actually now depend upon the Want check trees, which are found in the teenenabledadultwants.zip file.
This second file (teenenabledadultwants.zip) contains the hack named teenenabledadultwants.package which can go in your regular Downloads directory (or sub directory within that folder).  This file contains the check trees, which typically test to see if the want is valid for the sim in question.  However..., since the Go Steady want normally isn't enabled for adults or older to begin with, it doesn't bother to check age (it assumes that it will only be for teens).  Thus, the original Maxis EA code for Go Steady check tree does not check if a sim is already engaged or married (since this would not even be a possible scenario anyways with the original code and WantTrees.package).  So... because I added that, you now need the teenenabledwoohoowants.package, which I updated to include checks for being engaged or married.
What I will (need to) do is:
1) Add the Go Steady check tree to my Go Steady for Adults hack.  This seems logical since... if you have that hack, it only makes sense to also have the want enabled.
2) Create a new, separate file that disables the Go Steady want for adults, for those people who want to use the teenenabledwoohoowants without the Go Steady wants for adults.  Since people play their games differently, and they may want teenwoohoowants but not adult go steady wants.
I'm not sure if I will be home tonight, so this may have to wait until later this weekend.  Sorry about that.  I was just silly to assume that everyone would want to use both files (teen woohoo AND adult wants).  I forget that everyone is not me.
Hee hee. :D
:!:  Note:
Use the zadultsdisabledgosteadywant.package hack if you do not want the Go Steady wants to show up for Adults and older.
This is for players who want all the benefits of having woohoo wants enabled for teens, but do not want to enable "Go SteadY" wants for adults.
For those who do want to enable "Go Steady" wants for adults, the check tree has been rolled into the latest release of my adultsgosteady hack.  This was done for those people who only want adult go steady wants, but exclude any other changes to the check trees.
ETA:  The Go Steady want check tree is already included in the teenenabledadultwants.package for those who want both adult wants for teens and go steady wants for adults.  Hack compatibility may report a conflict, but it won't matter as they contain the same changes.  If you want to enable the Go Steady wants for adults, you must use a hack to enable the interaction for adults as well, such as my adultsgosteady hack (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,4465.0.html) or jase's InTeenimater. (http://box156.bluehost.com/~aestudi1/forums/inteenimater/index.php)
Since you put the check tree into the teenenabledadultwants, I installed that too and although the families I played so far are not very good for testing it, it appears to be working to control the go steady wants.
I guess I could use the updated adultsgosteady hack instead, because adults and teens are unlikely to roll wants for each other without a complementary hack that attracts them to each other. But who knows, my sims have surprised me before. I see what happens.
I'm probably making it confusing for people now that there are like all these cross dependencies... but I am just too lazy and don't want to make separate versions of the WantTrees.package for 3 possible different scenarios (i.e. for those who only want Woohoo wants for teens, those who only want Go Steady wants for adults, and those who want both).  I can't think of an easy way to do this, without having to go back and edit the WantTrees.package and make 3 different versions for each EP/SP.  That is just too much work.  Hehe. :P
Instead, the next best thing I could do was have the wants controlled by the want check trees.  So for each situation, you now may need a combination of hacks for those who:
ScenarioRequired Hacks
only want Woohoo wants for teens and only between teens
you need the WantTrees.package to enable the wants to show up in the first place, the new zadultsdisabledgosteadywant.package to disable the Go Steady want for adults, as well as one of the hacks that actually enables the interaction (i.e. Woohoo Teens, the Inteenimater kitten killer, or ACR).
only want Woohoo wants for teens and between teens or teens and adults
you need the WantTrees.package to enable the wants to show up and the teenenableadultwants.package to enable the wants to be valid between teens and adults, the new zadultsdisabledgosteadywant.package to disable the Go Steady want for adults, as well as one of the hacks that actually enables the interaction (i.e. Woohoo Teens, the Inteenimater kitten killer, or ACR)
only want Go Steady wants for adults Note: woohoo wants may still show up for teens, but you will not be able to fulfill them unless you actually have a hack that enables that interaction.
you need the WantTrees.package to enable the wants to show up in the first place and a hack that actually enables the interaction (i.e. my adultsgosteady hack or the Inteenimater kitten killer).
both Woohoo wants for teens (but only between teens) and Go Steady wants for adults
you need the WantTrees.package to enable the wants to show up in the first place and one of the hacks that actually enables the interaction (i.e. Woohoo Teens with my adultsgosteady hack, the Inteenimater kitten killer [enables teen woohoo and adult go steady], or ACR with my adultsgosteady hack).
both Woohoo wants for teens (between teens or teens and adults) and Go Steady wants for adults
you need the WantTrees.package to enable the wants to show up and the teenenableadultwants.package to enable the wants to be valid between teens and adults, as well as one of the hacks that actually enables the interaction (i.e. Woohoo Teens with my adultsgosteady hack, the Inteenimater kitten killer [enables teen woohoo and adult go steady], or ACR with my adultsgosteady hack).
Hopefully this table will be somewhat easy to read and understand.
Hi Ste. Did you also update teenenabledwoohoowants.zip ?
I did update it a couple of days ago (6/27).  That should've been the 1.04 tweak to the Go Steady want that should make sure it the want only shows up for adult sims when appropriate (i.e. they are not already going steady, engaged, or married).
The only additional things I did now was create the separate hack to disable them, for those who don't want the go steady for adults part.
Let me know if there are any problems.  I'm pretty sure I updated the .zip attachment, but in my haste, I could have updated the text/post only and forgot to actually change the .zip file.  ::)  The time stamp for most recent version of teenenabledadultwants.package should be 6/27/2007 10:40 PM (EDT).
psst, your last two entries on the left side are identical
...good catch, thanks for that! ;)
Great table, but I think for the last option (everyone can do everything), when you use ACR, the teen/adult attraction fix would be advisable too?
Anyway, I had my first teen woohoo want yesterday, while my sims were on a date. Both Melody Tinker and her townie boyfriend rolled it. Their timers are at the bottom too and since I changed their turn-ons they have gone up to three bolts. So the only problem left was that Melody is too shy and serious to initiate the interaction (and there are two toddlers at home, which always seem to block it to some extent), but she was on her own there. I've given them autonomy, now they have to deal with it.
Actually yeah, that fix would be advisable to anyone who uses ACR or Woohoo Teens, or both (which I do).  The Inteenimater kitten killer has it built in already, I believe.
Awesome.  I'm glad it seems to be working for you.  It's funny, my sims must be super horny, because they're always doin it, even when I don't want them to.  I gotta keep a watchful eye.  I know I could probably solve it by tweaking their autonomy options and such, but 1) I'm lazy :P and 2) I don't really want to stunt their autonomy, I just wish they'd be less cheaty when I have them already coupled.  But they're all determined to be slutty sluts! lol. :D
The latest test version of ACR with the plugin 'Maxis Cheating Fix' has helped keep the coupled Sims behaving as they should. Sims still have a chance of cheating, based on outgoingness and aspiration Example; a married, family Sim cheats less than an outgoing Romance Sim who is merely going steady.
And those of us who have been using ACR with Inteen were told the teen/adult attraction fix was included in Inteen and it works perfectly in my game. I'd still like to add autonomous proposals to the mix, but IIRC, it didn't play nice with something else I had. I need to reread that thread again.
Updated
v1.05 - Added changes from wfsanity hack
This hack will now conflict with wfsanity hack.  I have included the changes he made by default (basically it checks to make sure that wants roll up only for sims who are actually physically on the lot and not just off-world).  As a result, this hack must load last in your game if you choose to use both.
If you keep game hacks in the same folder, then you can usually ensure that teenenabledadultwants.package will load first by renaming the file.  For example, you can rename it zteenenabledadultwants.package and this should make the hack load last (alphabetically).
If you keep hacks in a separate folder by creator name, then theoretically syberspunk should load last after JMPescado, Pescado, ffs, or whatever you have named your folder to contain Pescado's hacks.
Please keep this in mind, if you are using the wfsanity hack.  Otherwise, the teenenabledadultwants.package may not work properly.
It doesn't make sense to me either... :-\
I suppose anything is possible... but I'm not sure why or how the want tree hack or the teenenabledadultwants hack could cause corruption of another hack.  Are you saying that your InTeen .package files actually got corrupted?  But the Wants were "working fine" as you say?
The description of your problem is extremely vague, and without error logs, I wouldn't be able to seriously debug anything.  *shrugs*
File corruption could also be something else.  I think there are problems with the objects.package getting corrupted due to read/write memory leaks or something.  Supposedly it's a good idea to make your objects.package read only.  I have not had this problem myself though.
File corruption could also just be due to your HD potentially failing.  Anyways, please let me know if you find any problems that are concretely determined to be the result of using either of my hacks.  Hopefully it is just a random fluke.
I am really sorry to bump an older thread (and if there was a better way to do it, please let me know and I sincerely apologize for performing necromancy), but I am a little confused, and it's not really your fault. I'm just that guy that likes to have 100% certain understanding and thus asks too many questions in class and pisses everyone off.
I installed "teenenabledwantsrandomflirts" because I want the teens to have adult wants and woohoo wants, and I want your random flirts option (well for now; I'll see how it goes). So I grabbed the right file and don't need anything else, right? You mentioned in the opening post that you weren't sure if teens would have the woohoo wants, which is why I was a little confused on that point.
Also, from somewhere, I followed a link from MATY to your "Testers Wanted: Teen Enabled Adult Wants and Woohoo Wants And Woohoo Wants (Updated 7/1/2007) (http://modthesims2.com/member/showthread.php?t=169485)" thread on MTS2 . Is everything there the same? There seem to be a lot more files to choose from, and there you mention something needing to be placed in the Wants directory, but I don't see that mentioned here. I do want adult wants, I do want woohoo wants, and I do want adults to go steady (but I thought that was separate; I also have your adults go steady mod listed elsewhere in your section - is that repetitive with this?). I also have UNI, NL and OFB (no stuff packs); do I need some or all of the associated files on the MTS2 page? Those files aren't listed here, so that again is confusing me a bit.
I hope this wasn't a breech of protocol, and I hope I didn't piss anyone off by posting on an old thread. But please let me keep my lips. I'm still young and hope to use them some more.
EDIT: Forgot link.
Posting in old hack/mod threads is perfectly fine here, in spite of the scary guy that pops up. The 'home' thread is, after all, the best place to discuss the hack in question.
Necromancy is only really frowned upon in the more general discussion forums here.
Okay, cool. Thanks. Honestly I've never liked posting on old threads for whatever reason. Feels like poor etiquette. But then you have extremists on the other side of the token that rip you a new one if you make a new thread about something for which a thread exists, no matter how old it was.
JCSpencer, Ste posted a great "Which hack is the right one for me" overview here (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,4464.msg244250.html#msg244250).
You mentioned in the opening post that you weren't sure if teens would have the woohoo wants, which is why I was a little confused on that point.
IIRC, Ste was referring to the teen > adult woohoo want. Actually, I have never seen one in my game. The teen > teen woohoo want does show up.
Okay, thanks for clearing that up for me on the woohoo want. And thanks for the link to that post; I'll read it now.
Quote
both Woohoo wants for teens (between teens or teens and adults) and Go Steady wants for adults
 you need the WantTrees.package to enable the wants to show up and the teenenableadultwants.package to enable the wants to be valid between teens and adults, as well as one of the hacks that actually enables the interaction (i.e. Woohoo Teens with my adultsgosteady hack, the Inteenimater kitten killer [enables teen woohoo and adult go steady], or ACR with my adultsgosteady hack).
So I need WantsTrees, teenenabledadultwants, woohoo teens and adultsgosteady, it seems. Now I do have syberspunk's "teenenabledadultwantsrandomflirts" - I assume that counts to fulfill the requirements. I also have the NL+ version of adults go steady, and Jenflower's Woohoo Teens for OFB. Now as for the WantTrees.package... there are several on MTS2, but I assume, like everything else, I only want to get the one for my latest expansion, in this case OFB, correct? I right now have in my downloads folder:
adultsgosteady.package
WantTrees.package
WooHooTeens_6f_OFB.package
zteenenabledadultwantsrandomflirts.package
I renamed the last package since I wanted to keep JM's Wants & Fears Sanity, but syber said his had to load last. I hope I finally got this right. And thanks again, sloppyhousewife. You're at least semi-awesome in my book!
I'm confused about the want tree available on MTS2. I understand that for the woohoo wants for teens to work correctly I will need the want tree but the latest available one that I could find was for Seasons. Am I meant to use that version or have I overlooked a BV version somewhere? Or maybe I am just totally confused?
Looky here (under "May require update"): click (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,9446.msg257842.html#msg257842)
Obviously, there is no BV version yet, but the Seasons version might work ;)
I've been lazy busy and I haven't gotten around to updating that one yet.  :P
Plus, stupid Teen Style Stuff is around the corner, which will also require yet another update (stupid SPs! Ugh!).
Anyhew, sorry for the delay, but I haven't found the time to sit down and do the grunt work.
I right now have in my downloads folder:
WantTrees.package
The modified WantTrees.package file does not go into the MyDoc Downloads folder, but is a replacement for a core game file. You need to back up the current WantTrees.package in C:\Program Files\EA Games\<MOST RECENT SIMS 2 EP or SP\TSData\Res\Wants (in your case this would be under OFB, right?) and drop Ste's WantTrees.package in there instead.
Oops, yeah. That's what I did, but I carelessly forgot to denote that in my post. Thanks, Raene! Hope that didn't screw anyone else up. I doubt anyone paid attention though, because I'm still just an Asinine Airhead. Where's my damn promotion?
EDIT: LOL! Okay, I became a Blathering Buffoon with this post. Soon I'll be taking over the world, then the universe, and then MATY.
FYI:  I still have not yet updated the WantTrees.package for BV.  You can try to use the older version, but you will srsly PHAIL. :P
I do have plans to update the file, I just haven't had the time to do so.  The management thanks you for your patience. ;)
Well now... I have read, re-read, and then re-re read all of the thread over at MTS2 and here... and have concluded that I must be a re-re myself... o.0 I am so confused and confuddled regarding what needs to go where... what I nsed to accomplish this (teens wanting to woowhoo with anyone, adult or teen - which I absolutly ADORE!!!!) I think I have gotten it figured out, and now am just waiting on a BV update for the wantstree? So, I am asking politely and with as much suck-up-ness as I can possibly muster - any eta on that, dahling?
Posts which do not include a clear description of what your problem is will be pretty much ignored. (i.e. posts such as "This does not work! I am taking it out! You suck! Nice try! etc.") I can't and won't help you if you don't explain what's wrong.
I'd also like to point out that it's NOT FAIR of you to ask me to be clear after you fubar'd my brain on two different boards!!!!! ;D Seriously though... Sims 2 would just not be enjoyable for me without all of you Way More Awesome Than Me people... I've been chatting with you all in my mind for a couple years now... I just dont post much... so if I sound like I am being a bit too familiar with you... it's cuz I know you... you just dont know it yet... >.>
Sorries.  My weekends have just been crazy occupied lately.  And my week nights are like the only time I get to myself to kind of not think about work related things. :P
But, I will have some free time coming up during the holidays.  I won't make any promises, but I will probably get around to it about that time.  I will have to take a look at the Teen Style Stuff Pack as well.  It probably won't have any major differences.  But I will take a look just to see.  I also have to reformat my compy, which I have been putting off.  ::)  So... uh, no definite time frame.  Only a vague-ish, maybe the weekend before New Year's. :P
I know that this is probably too much to ask, but you probably know that Pescado has posted a proof of concept want-tree-impacting hack that doesn't touch core files. The idea is that you could have more than one want tree type hack in at once, which would be glorious. I was wondering if you might be able to make the woohoo wants appear for teens using the method that Pescado used in moarfight (which can be found in the test directory if you haven't seen it yet) instead of modifying the want tree. I'm going to use your hack either way, but I'd love it even more if it is possible to implement it in a less invasive way. I know, I know, you're probably sick of me harassing you and asking you a million questions, but I only do it because I love your hacks so much. Please take it for the compliment that it is and don't hate me. ;)
Thanks for letting me know.  When I find time, I'll take a look at the hack.  Hopefully it will be easy to figure out and implement his way, rather than the cumbersome way I have to do it now.  I would definitely prefer to do something that wouldn't have to impact the wanttree as a whole.  I imagine, however, this is probably something that only works with these later games (Pets and later, probably)?
If it turns out to be really easy to follow what Pes did, hopefully it won't take too long for me to do.  Otherwise, I may end up doing it the old way first, and then taking time to figure out this new method.  I most likely won't have time this weekend (lots of family holiday crap and obligations with teh hubby :P).  But hopefully next weekend, I can find the time to check it out.  (Again, no promises :P)
Syberspunk, I am wondering, will the want trees need to be updated for M&G?
