More Awesome Than You!

Well, the more I see of Windkeeper's work, the more I like it.  She does such amazing work, and this time she's turned her attentions to that beautiful hair mesh that was hidden in the OFB files.  Take a look (http://www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/sims2/sets?ID=293569).  It's all properly binned and animated and it doesn't cut into the Sim's face.  So beautiful.

How does it differ from this one?  I know its the same mesh extracted from OFB but has some critical fix?

The animations are slightly off with the ones posted on sims connection :)

The version at SimsConnection has not been modified at all; it's exactly as Maxis left it, and still has the problems that are most likely the reason why Maxis left it hidden.

Right, the animations have been fixed with Windkeeper's - the hair no longer cuts into the face and it swings properly as well.  It's also colour-binned.  And it's compatible for all ages, including toddlers and children.

I have pinhead's extraction, which has the Maxis animation problems (not sure if they're the same problems as the Sims Connection problems). I think Windkeeper pulled the side out a little to keep it from cutting into the cheek...might still interfere with glasses and shoulders/collars though. I like that it doesn't cut into the cheek, but I'm not sure I like her silver texture and I really like that pinhead's file is just the pointer and so is really small. Still debating... ;)

I liked the OFB hairstyle but it bothered me how it woudl clip into the sim's cheeks.  There are a lot of hairs I have downloaded that looked good in the pictures, but the animation just ruined it in game.  *coughthankyoubluecough*

This looks like a paysite item and is therefore not relevant to the Podium.

Well, it's certainly not Retardo Land material.  :P  When are you going to give us a board where we can talk about non-Podium, non-Retardo stuff with More Awesome people???

Yeah, the hair is nice, but that whole cutting into the cheek thing bothered me. Glad Windkeeper was able to fix it. :)

All Bluesoups deserve much love and extra cheese. Thanks so much for pointing this out, or I would have never seen it. I am much happier now that I've put this version of the hair in my game and deleted the other miscellaneous versions I've had floating around.

Same here!  ;D Heather Huffington looks absolutely lovely in this hairstyle. Thank you Blue for alerting us to Windkeeper's awesome work.

This hair looks really pretty in my game. Wishes that there are alternate textures for it though rather than Maxis defaults.

You could always check and see if the textures look the same as the textures for the less nice versions of the hair, and if they do, you can easily convert some of the recolors of other versions over.

How is this done?  Sounds exactly like what I need to do!  It should also work for the OFB curly extracted mesh ones, too, right?

Anything that lets you view the textures can be used to compare them, but I find extracting them with Body Shop is best, because you can see them at full size in your image viewer of choice, and then, if you find that they are the same, you'll need to use Body Shop to make them into recolors for the Windkeeper mesh anyway.

Thank you for posting this, Blue.  :)  I had downloaded another version of this that had no animations at all, so It just didn't move.  The weird animations from the SC version had bothered me as well, so I preferred the "plastic" one to the SC one.  I really like Windkeeper's version, and can't wait to try it out in game. 

I'm glad everyone saw this thread, but apparently there was a 100-person "viewing" limit, so I have corrected that.  Just wanted to make sure you all knew.  ;)

I just tried this out in my game, and the hair is slightly fuller in comparison to the SC one, but the animations are simply beautiful.  Well worth it.  I am getting rid of the SC one.  ;)
