Title: Collections files Post by: arielle on 2006 April 26, 20:49:20 Has anyone figured out a way to group or sort collections files so they show up the way you want them to? Does anyone know what information the game uses to sort them? I'm anal, and I have loads of collections files I've made (29,531 files, 7.01 gb in downloads - making collections was a NECESSITY!).

Title: Re: Collections files Post by: TaWanda on 2006 April 27, 00:11:23 Don't know if this is quite what you mean, but subfoldering helps with organizing some of your downloads. I subfoldered my rugs and beds according to color and/or style and they show up ingame in the same way. For instance if I'm looking for a particular retro style rug ingame I can zip past all the grouped asian rugs, the grouped floral rugs, etc., until I get to the section of retro rugs. Then I can scroll thru just those, without having to hover over every thumbnail in the entire file trying to find that one particular rug I want.
I was so happy to see this work that I went and subfoldered all my eyes by color too, hoping to find an easy way to compare them, but it didn't work out the way I wanted. Maybe the bodyshop stuff is set up different. ??? Title: Re: Collections files Post by: BlueSoup on 2006 April 27, 02:10:16 There is an out-of-game collection tool currently in testing, and it's working great. I'm not sure when it will be publicly released though.
Title: Re: Collections files Post by: JenW on 2006 April 27, 02:34:12 Ooooh I will be waiting for that one Blue. Does it do clothing too? I've been trying to make a collection of wedding dresses but quickly run out of virtual memory and it all goes kaboom O.o
Title: Re: Collections files Post by: BlueSoup on 2006 April 27, 02:39:15 I don't think it does clothing, but I can check. I haven't tried.
Title: Re: Collections files Post by: Paperbladder on 2006 April 27, 02:47:15 I remember jfade talking somewhere about making a categorization tool, but I can't find any evidence about it anywhere. Maybe it was someone else that said it, I don't know.
I usually don't use collections, but if they came with an autosort function I might start using them. Title: Re: Collections files Post by: BlueSoup on 2006 April 27, 02:49:45 It is indeed Jfade's I'm testing. He hasn't released it yet, though.
Title: Re: Collections files Post by: jfade on 2006 April 27, 12:40:12 I think clothing is possible, though I wasn't aware that clothing could be put into collections until just recently, and at this point it'll have to wait for the following version more than likely. I'm trying to hurry up and finish batch adding for objects, then it'll probably be released to the public. (I still can't figure out how on earth walls and floors are referenced by the game, and no one else seems to know how so those are out for now, maybe a second version will have those. I do have someone to contact but I haven't been able to get ahold of them yet to find out.) Anyhow, I'll let you all know when I have a public and more final beta. :)
Title: Re: Collections files Post by: witch on 2006 April 28, 09:23:16 That sounds really useful jfade!
I didn't know you could put clothes in collections at all. Is it new with OFB? Title: Re: Collections files Post by: jrd on 2006 April 28, 12:04:12 Nah, was possible since the original game.
Title: Re: Collections files Post by: arielle on 2006 April 28, 16:31:26 Ooooh, I can hardly wait, jfade!!!! ;D
Title: Re: Collections files Post by: Theo on 2006 April 28, 16:44:19 Ditto, and although I haven't used it yet, I foresee an end to the utter annoyance of not being able to add some residential items into community collections 8)
I only wish I could help jfade with that wall/floor problem, but those numbers don't make sense to me too :P |
