Title: Elevator fixing/placement
Post by: anyeone on 2006 April 19, 22:41:17
My sim owns the Papaya Regime and last night the elevator broke (after plummeting).  He tried to fix it, unsuccessfully (got roasted) and after that my sim was unable to either continue trying to fix it or to use it.  He went home, came back the next day and still a problem.  The only option he had when clicking on the elevator was "Go to this floor", but nothing happened.  All the customers got thought bubbles frustration about the elevator not working and stamped their feet.

I tried deleting the elevator and placing a new one in the exact same spot - this did not fix the problem.

Any ideas?

Did you try moveobjects on delete or boolproping to see if you can get a delete / reset option?

No, I really haven't messed much with the command window so I wouldn't be sure what command to use.

Ok hit ctrl, shift and c keys at the same time and bring up the cheat box, in there type in moveobjects on and then try deleting the elevator in build mode, that should get rid of it and you can just replace it.

It's not a deleting problem, Simlover.

anyeone, try typing boolprop testingcheatsenabled true in your console window after hitting Ctrl+Shift+C. Then, hold Shift and click on the elevator and see what options there are. If only "Force Error" appears, hit it and then click Reset in the window that pops up.

If the elevator works after that, you can type the same cheat except replace "true" with false to turn off debug mode.

Try bombarding the offending area with stuck-object-removers?

Sledge hammer?  I was sure that the first time I read the post it said they couldn't delete the object.  Maybe I need glasses ::)

Ok, I figured it out.  It needed to be fixed upstairs as well as downstairs.  I had to build a staircase and a side door so my sim could get up there to fix it and now it works.

I'm surprised though that deleting and adding a new elevator still left it broken.  Bizarre.

Thanks for the help, folks.
