Title: Now, I thought OFB was supposed to use formal wear for weddings...
Post by: Syera on 2006 April 17, 14:32:05
I was a-thinking OFB was supposed to use formalwear for weddings.  Last night, a couple of my Sims got married... and they changed into the default wedding wear instead of the cool outfits I'd gotten for them.  Was I supposed to do something extra, or was this because I used the wedding altar, which was cloned off a pre-OFB wedding arch?

If you use Maxis altar, they'll spin into the formal wear you choose for them. If its the MTS2 altar, they continue to wear Maxis defaults.
Hope this helps.

Maxis didn't make an altar... did they?  I thought they'd only made the wedding arches.

Thanks.  :)

I posted on MTS2.  I really, really like the wedding altar - it certainly looks better in-doors, in my opinion.   ;D

I agree - it's one mod I'd like to see updated for OFB.  Looks great in churches where the arch really doesn't go - on the plus side, AFAIK, it still works on community lots and we DON'T want to loose that capability.  If the creator does update the altar thing, let me know - please?

That's fine - and thanks for posting but what I really want is that altar in my churches - not the arches.

I s'pose I could.  Alternatively, you could always bookmark IndigoRage's downloads page.  ;)

Well presently there is no mod for having ur community wedding in custom wedding gear now.
How about placing the arch at the entrance and getting married there and then posing for photos by the altar as a form of substitute instead?

Stupid question...but did you remember to plan their formal wear via a dresser?
Although it shouldn't have mattered...they should have spun into whatever formal wear they currently had planned anywhere.

I used the altar from MTS2 just the other day and my sims spun into their planned formal wear.

Really - I thought it wasn't supposed to do that (yet).  Where did you use it - community or residential lot?  Syera's original post was about them changing into the Maxis garb with the altar.

Yep.  I'd gone and dressed 'em up, and boy, did they look spiffy.  (http://www.springhole.net/smileys/tongue.gif)

I have the opposite problem.  All my sims are getting married in their formal wear.  Is there any kind of cheat or mod for those of us who don't have any interest in shopping for wedding dresses? I'm glad they put this feature in for people who want it, but they should have made it optional.  It also doesn't mention anything about this in the booklet that came with the EP, so my wedding pictures for the first wedding after OFB look pretty stupid.  Who gets married in scarlet?

Anyway, any means of getting back the quick and easy wedding method would be appreciated.

The only way I can think of is to have you buy them the default wedding dress (located at the back of the formal catalog, I think), and plan formal right before the wedding.  You can always change your formal wear outfit later.

Sure you don't still have TJ's old pre-OFB mod still in your game or something?

You could grab that altar or any other object cloned from a pre-OFB wedding arch, or you could get one of the many hacks that lets you acquire new clothes easily without leaving the home lot.
