Title: Papers and pillows are psychedelic and modular stairs are blue..
Post by: SciBirg on 2006 April 11, 17:03:25
I installed a better graphics card (Nvidia Geforce 6600GT) and now the pillows are psychedelic colored when sims sleep sideways, the newspaper likewise when it is being read, water puddles are bright green and the cheapest modular stairs are now blue instead of green.

I have googled and found out that this is due to an Nvidia driver that doesn't work and that you have to install an older driver to fix it. But is there perhaps another way of fixing this? And no, the newest driver still does not work...

This happened to me when I updated my driver for my 6600GT.

To fix it I uninstalled the drivers (through the control panel). Rebooted. Then I used Driver Cleaner Pro to get rid of all the Nvidia detritus. Then I installed 78.01, from august 2005. That fixed it.

However, once I installed the Nightlife patch, before OFB, I had some issues and had to upgrade to newer drivers.

Friend of mine has said 81.95 (not 98) has always worked well for her.

So far it seems the 78.1 drivers are the most stable.

Do you have OFB? I used to have this problem, but I updated the drivers to play Oblivion, and the problem doesn't seem to exist for me anymore.

At any rate, this has convinced me to buy an ATI the next time I got a card.

Take it from a long time ATI user, stick to Nvidia... Even with the nonsense with the colors flashing, it is a FAR better card. Shows bump mapping perfectly etc.
