Title: Has anyone run Maxis Content Manager lately? Post by: witch on 2006 April 10, 01:30:20 Just over on another thread, people are comparing the size of their download folders. I decided I would do a bit of cleaning out. :D
I thought I'd give Maxis Content Manager another shot, I hadn't really looked at it since it first came out. Well I haven't managed to boot the bloody thing. I got a fresh D/L because mine didn't work, same problem. The app starts to load, the bar starts to creep across the screen and then "Error", literally, that's all the info I get. Has anyone successfully used this app lately? I've logged a technical problem at EA, don't expect I'll hear for a while... Title: Re: Has anyone run Maxis Content Manager lately? Post by: gypsylady on 2006 April 10, 02:29:30 I can't get mine to work either. I even did like you and downloaded a fresh copy. No go. :'(
Title: Re: Has anyone run Maxis Content Manager lately? Post by: Bitsy on 2006 April 10, 02:39:08 I didn't have problems getting it to load, but I did have problems when it finally did. It would lock up and crash on the oddest things. At first I thought it was just bad content that I was clicking on that was causing it to crash or lock up. Then I clicked on a Maxis Halloween item, which caused the app to immediately crash. I recommend using Clean Installer.
Title: Re: Has anyone run Maxis Content Manager lately? Post by: witch on 2006 April 10, 03:00:58 Sigh. I just wanted sorting for dummies.
I like Clean Installer, I use it frequently, only I wanted to see lots of thumbnails of objects at once, couldn't remember if the Maxis app did that or not. Title: Re: Has anyone run Maxis Content Manager lately? Post by: Mike on 2006 April 10, 03:52:56 I don't use Clean Installer nor the content manager. But due to popularity, use the clean installer.

I like Clean Installer, I use it frequently, only I wanted to see lots of thumbnails of objects at once, couldn't remember if the Maxis app did that or not. I tried it out once. Worked fine for me. I don't remember any thumbnails though. I haven't fired it up in months. It many ways it seemed less advanced than the Sims2 Pack Clean Installer, which itself hasn't been updated in a long time. Title: Re: Has anyone run Maxis Content Manager lately? Post by: witch on 2006 April 10, 09:04:43 Well here's my answer - no answer.
Q = does content manager work for all expansions? A = sorry, we don't support content maager(sic). Customer = well does it or doesn't it? ??? Quote Response (Box Japhet G.) 04/10/2006 12:22 AM Hello, Thank you for contacting us here at Electronic Arts Technical Support. I am really sorry for the inconvenience. The Content Manager is just an add-on feature of the game in order for you to manage custom parts for the game. Unfortunately, we do not provide support for the Content Maanger because the concern is not with the game itself. I apologize for all the inconvenience this may have caused you. Should you require further assistance about this or any Electronic Arts game in the future, please visit our website and review our extensive Self Help Knowledgebase (http://support.ea.com). Japhet G EA Games Technical Support Customer 04/09/2006 05:17 PM Can't run Maxis Content Manager. Downloaded fresh copy & retried. No joy. Content manager starts up, the bar starts loading, then I get an error message. Literally "Error". No other information. I have all expansion packs except xmas & holiday content. Haven't tried this programme since probably before Nightlife. Don't know if OFB changes anything. I have a lot of custom content, which is why I want to sort it. :/ Can you please tell me if the Content Manager works with all expansions? Title: Re: Has anyone run Maxis Content Manager lately? Post by: Simlover on 2006 April 10, 09:10:45 I only use content manager and have never had a problem with it. I know with bodyshop it can be temperamental with intel chipsets so I wonder if maybe its possibly the same for the content manager.
Title: Re: Has anyone run Maxis Content Manager lately? Post by: witch on 2006 April 10, 10:23:38 I have an AMD chipset.
Bodyshop works OK, just excrutiatingly s l o w l y. Simlover, have you used content manager since OFB? I don't think I've used it since Uni. Title: Re: Has anyone run Maxis Content Manager lately? Post by: Simlover on 2006 April 10, 10:30:27 Yep bodyshop takes longer to load that the sims, which is silly i think, but there you go. I don't know what else top say re content manager other than its a common complaint at the BBS, due to the fact that I've never had a problem I havent bothered to chase it up any further (maybe I should have) I would maybe suggest searching the BBS (shudder) when its up if no one awesome can help.
