Title: crash when maximise
Post by: Indiasong on 2006 March 29, 12:38:51
When I minimise the game to do something else, it always crashes when I try to get back in, stating a direct 3d error. Any idea what it could be, or if I could change a setting? I have an ATI 9800.
It hasn't always done that.

How are you minimizing it?  Are you playing in Windows mode, or full-screen and then Alt-Tab?

And if you stated exactly what the error message was would help.

I play full screen and minimise with the windows button .
The message I don't remember exactly, something like the application has crashed and will now terminate because of a direct 3d error.

The only time I have had the terminate message was when I had Norton Internet Security 2006 running in the background, which leads me to believe its either a conflict with the program or memory problem (I only have 512mb).  Chances are your sims are taxing your machine to the max and trying to have the desktop and other stuff running with the sims window minimised is a bit too much.

I think it's worse on your computer and your game to play in full-screen mode and then minimize than it would be to play in window mode and minimize.

I have 1500gb memory, and it didn't use to do that. I rather think it's something to do with the drivers.
And sometimes I get a blue screen, but scrambled, blue and white.
