Given the way Maxis usually does such things I was really cringing the first time I took a sim to a lot with an elevator. I figured the sound of the bell would be enough to force me to delete the elevator, but I found it quite unobtrusive.
(I must be a bit of a masocist. I just take for granted that many things about The Sims 2 will just be annoying.) Title: Re: Request for a Quiet Elevator.
