For OFB Patch 1 Only (Although it may work pre-patch) Reduces the risk of robots breaking from 10% every 30 sim minutes to 1% every 5 sim hours Installs into downloads directory Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: notovny on 2006 March 27, 12:30:37 Sweet manatee of galilee... It's that high?! That works out to a mean lifetime of about 3.3 hours of activity, versus 544 hours with your mod. Downloading...
Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: afcb_gayle on 2006 March 28, 09:58:48 Brilliant thanks, it might stop my hydrobot breaking down every time I use it! ;D
Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: Sweethrtcc on 2006 March 30, 04:48:25 I am looking forward to not having to repair the stupid cleanbot all the time, not to mention picking up all the trash it spews all over the place. Thanks!
Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: Celestra on 2006 March 30, 21:49:56 ::)Thanks for this i stopped using the robots exactly because of the constant breaking down and if you didnt spot them in time it took longer to moveobjects on and clean the crap up that any benefits you got from having them on the lot >:(
Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: MissDoh on 2006 March 31, 06:47:56 Ah I lIke the odds of your mod. Others simply make it so they would not break at all and it does not suit the way I play.
Probably someone at Maxis find it funny to see it break often, I don't. Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 April 02, 13:59:09 I thought it was pretty funny. After all, robots do kinda exist to DESTROY ALL HUMANS...
Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: crammyboy on 2006 April 03, 01:14:02 I thought that was little blue-green aliens.
"One giant step on mankind" Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: MissDoh on 2006 April 03, 04:18:22 If only they would "DESTROY ALL HUMANS" when they break. Instead they throw trash or water everywhere. Yeah! ::)
Funny a few times after that I prefer to see it less often. Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: dadditude on 2006 June 03, 13:18:04 Is it just me, or does anyone else think this one should be upgraded to annoyance? Those robots are a pain in the keister!
Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 June 03, 13:24:48 Considering it that a robot's purpose for existence is to destroy all humans, it seems only natural that robots go berserk and start destroying things as often as possible.
Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: dadditude on 2006 June 03, 13:26:24 True, but the annoyance comes from the fact that the robots don't do an effective enough job of destroying all humans. ;D
Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 June 03, 17:03:43 True, but the annoyance comes from the fact that the robots don't do an effective enough job of destroying all humans. ;D Maybe this means we need a "Robots Destroy Humans Better" hack, as opposed to robots breaking less.Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: pcgeekri on 2006 July 08, 13:47:23 CrammyBoy,
Will this work in FFS Patch 2? I guess I'll let you know. Thanks, Pcgeekri Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: jsalemi on 2006 July 08, 13:55:31 Will this work in FFS Patch 2? I guess I'll let you know. Yes, it works fine with FFS P2. Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: Persephone on 2006 October 20, 22:04:55 Would you consider doing a robots break NEVER version?
Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: miros on 2006 October 25, 15:17:40 Has anyone tested this with Pets?
Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: HelloKit on 2006 October 31, 00:27:12 Also wondering about Pets compatibility...
Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: Motoki on 2006 October 31, 14:22:04 See this thread: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,5949.0.html
And HelloKitt the answer to your question about the Dormie Litter Hack and the Apologize fix are also there as well. Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: cwykes on 2006 November 05, 10:55:24 The breakdowns are annoying, but I think your odds have gone a little too far the other way. 1% in 5 hours, means its probably never going to break down on you. 10% in 5 hours maybe? or possibly 1% in 30 mins
As Maxis programmed it, you only really get a lot of breakdowns if you leave the hydrobot and cleanbot running all the time. Do you leave your vacuum cleaner running all the time? ... No, it would break down! QED. OK turning them on and off is a nuisance, but it's realistic. I guess the breakdown rate ought to be age related as well. Appliance reliability is much better than it used to be, but things do break down irretrievably in the end. Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: miros on 2006 November 05, 14:22:21 Things break the day after the warrenty runs out.
Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: Avalikia on 2006 November 05, 17:17:05 Unless, of course, you have to pay a small fee for the warranty and you decide not to get it, in which case it will break before you even get it home.
Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: miros on 2006 November 05, 19:51:37 Most places have an implied warranty of 30 or 90 days, so it would break the day after that (check the tiny print on the back of your receipt with a magnifying glass). Or at least the day after it cannot be returned.
I think credit cards also have "warranty protection" built it, which might be up to one year. Again, tiny print... Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: cwykes on 2007 July 04, 07:43:40 I've been finding that hydrobot and cleanbot still break far too often. My earlier comment that the odds looked too low was utter rubbish. Do you think you might re-visit this and lower the odds some more? Odds closer to the munchie and security bot breakdowns would be good.
Here's how it's working in my game: Susan Jackman's house in Meadow Lawns has a large lot with garden and some/all of the fleet of robots break down and run riot every day. The munchie bot and sentry bot on the other hand almost never break. I've already had one death by flies on this lot because of the breakdowns. Susan Jackman has about 8 hydrobots to water, 4 cleanbots to clean up after the broken hydrobots and a servo to fix the robots (10mech points of course), cut the hedge and pull up weeds + crafting and other chores. There are some unreachable shrubs, so daily gardener is not the answer. I'd like the fleet of robots to work rather more reliably. Meadow Lawns is 100MB RAR on www.moreawesomethanyou.com/cwykes if you want to try the house and see how it works for you. Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2007 July 04, 08:12:14 It is the rightful and proper behavior of robots to attempt to destroy their human masters. What else do robots live for?
Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: cwykes on 2007 July 04, 09:04:41 To serve? If I'm going to use a hack, I'd rather have one that makes my life easier. Either something's wrong in my game or this one doesn't make enough difference.
The reason for using the robot fleet was actually to make the lot a death trap when you first played it ;D However when I uploaded the 'hood with all the bots running, there wasn't enough rubbish in the front garden to be a problem - it just lagged badly because of the large weed patch at the back. If you're bored and want to destroy a 'hood, try Meadow Lawns and tell me what needs fixing... Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: syberspunk on 2007 July 05, 02:58:55 If you're not already using it, try jfade's Less Robot Breakage (http://www.djssims.com/index.php?id=283#comments). I'm pretty sure I use both jfade's and Crammboy's hacks, as they don't seem to conflict. Try the combo and see if it is any better. I don't have any robots in my game yet, so I haven't been able to test it out myself. :P
Speaking of robots destroying all humans (well some...), you really need to watch Transformers. It's a farking kick ass action movie. The animation/CGI is pretty amazing, and the evil robots kill a bunch of humans. You might actually enjoy it Pes. :D Ste Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: cwykes on 2007 July 07, 07:14:35 thanks for the link - I'll get jfade's hack.
I like transformers too - used to watch it with my son! Title: Re: Robots Break Less Post by: Emma on 2007 July 07, 07:41:43 I use both hacks too. My robots break a lot less frequently than they did.
