Title: Domo Arrigato, NPC Roboto
Post by: Elvie on 2006 March 23, 23:24:46
So, I'm playing with Inge's teleporter bush, and under "Summon Default" I get the option to summon *NPC-Robot.  Just like *NPC-Remote Controlled Car.  :o

Does this mean that Cleanbot, etc. are spawns of Satan and should be avoided at all costs?

What is the *NPC-Remote Coontrolled Car for, anyways?

That is scary...

If you watch the robots, you'll see that they even have an aspiration which is typically family. I don't think it's a bad thing to do (teleport them/it) but I certainly wouldn't move it in. Besides, if you teleport it there is likely to be nothing there.

I'm told that Servo gets the aspiration, personality and skill points of the sim that initialises him/her.  I now have two romance robots living with my romance sim.   I don't know whether to laugh or cry!  Aaarrrrgghhh!

Summoning the remote controlled car was a game wrecking choice last I read.  That might be innaccurate, but it's not an option I'd mess with just for the hell of it!  If you want to know about Inge's bush, you could always post on her site...  I'd think it would allow you to summon robots by name and summoning an unnamed default would be a bad idea.

Being one of the fools who messed with the dang remote control car I can tell you that it is something you don't want to mess with, unless you enjoy locking up your lots and having to bulldoze them  :'(

I had no intention of summoning it.  8)

I don't think the NPC Robot has anything to do with Servo - I think it's the "lesser" robots like SentryBot and CleanBot.

I wonder if having these bots on your lot might cause mayhem like the remote controlled car does...

I've noticed that when a non-Servo robot on the lot is "on", when Sims serve meals, they set out an extra plate. I guess even the Munchie-Bot gets hungry? :P

Which led me to the conclusion, that the robots msot likely work like the remotely controlled car, adding a hidden person more to the house. Why else set plates for them. Hence why I never actually use the robots.
At least I wont, untill i hear that they are safe to use.

So if you're just now noticing it I take it you've never had a sim with the "head for numbers" business award manage a group? While they don't show in the known sims panel or when calling from the phone book of known sims, when you go to add sims to a group, the npc robot is at the top of the list. Shortly followed by the grim reaper, therapist, social bunny, Bella Goth (in Pleasantview), the social worker, and a few others you probably don't want to be friends with. Hmm. I don't remember seeing Santa. Oh wait, he must be there somewhere, the new year toddler was.

Sorry to hijack a thread, but I've made two cleanbots and I can't seem to pick them up and move them from the robot bench.  All I can do is sell them.  Is there something I'm doing wrong?  ???

Chee-Z - the robots are sneaky. Make sure you're trying to grab the base rather than the robot itself. Don't use moveobjects on it, or you will have a fubared robot.

Yup and when you mark them for sale, only the base lights up.   Daft!
