Title: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: MissDoh on 2006 March 23, 18:28:55 This is taken from the official site. I love this object and I am sure I am not the only one using it.
Quoted from Sims 2 site: "We've updated the "Runs With Scissors" object to prevent conflicts with your Open For Business game." Here is the link to download the new version of it: http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/object_detail.php?asset_id=272 Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: Motoki on 2006 March 23, 18:32:48 I noticed this and got it. I didn't even realzie it was broken with OFB.
Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: BlueSoup on 2006 March 23, 18:33:42 I didn't notice it either, but I hardly ever use it. Thanks for the link. :)
Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: MissDoh on 2006 March 23, 18:34:17 Me neither but since I did not used it since installing OFB lol ;D
Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: radiophonic on 2006 March 23, 19:28:55 That object is hilarious.
I do recall though, someone dropped dead from playing with it and that too, was hilarious. :D Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: Renatus on 2006 March 23, 19:32:08 Oooh, goody. If it can still kill sims I think I've finally found something to add some drama to my damned game. Oh, you knowledge sims who think you want to be saved from death... hehhehheh.

If it can still kill sims I think I've finally found something to add some drama to my damned game. Oh, you knowledge sims who think you want to be saved from death... hehhehheh. Well I should have known not to run with scissors. :P I can't say for sure what the conditions are that one may die using the object, I presume it might be green aspiration. I don't know since I wasn't paying attention to what the sim's needs, etc. were when she died. It could just be random. EDIT: I opened it up in SimPE and yes, it is random. Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: Motoki on 2006 March 23, 19:43:38 When they originally posted this object, it was much more lethal and the odds of dying higher. A lot of people on the BBS whined that their sims died from it and they didn't know and they got all worked up bla bla bla so they released an updated version a couple days later with much lower odds.
This thing was released on April 1rst last year btw. ;) Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: PattyB on 2006 March 23, 19:44:47 Thanks! I'll be downloading when I get home from work.
I killed my first Sim using this :o Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: Pegasys on 2006 March 23, 19:45:40 It's great for Sims who have a need to be saved from death. Just used the updated version yesterday for that purpose. :)
Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: Renatus on 2006 March 23, 20:19:30 Hehhehheh, awesome! I'll definitely give it a go once I have some time to play; I was really disappointed when I tried to use the old version and got an error because it wasn't compatible any longer.
Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: MissDoh on 2006 March 23, 20:33:32 This is mainly why I love this object. It is a fast an easy way to kill Sim. There was a day awhile ago that I felt hum-hum destructive, something like 15 Sims died that day because of the scissors. ;D :'(
Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: sara_dippity on 2006 March 23, 20:55:36 Lower odds? Aww, man. I want the original back.
I did use it in OFB by the way. My sim picked it up and it immediately vanished. Nowhere to be seen. Didn't get my simoleans back either. Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: Motoki on 2006 March 23, 20:59:59 I was actually going to ask if someone still had the original more lethal version but seeing as how it wouldn't work with OFB anyhow I suppose it's a moot point.
Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: Renatus on 2006 March 23, 21:03:10 I opened it up in SimPE and found what I think are the odds and altered them. I have no idea if my ham-fisted mucking about will actually work, but I'll give it a go later tonight and let everyone know what to change if it does work, assuming someone else doesn't get to it first. :)
Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: Wolfee on 2006 March 23, 21:43:45 So that was what was up with it. First time I ever used it was last week when I was trying something new with a family tree which didn't work, long story, anyhoo, I had all these elders I wanted to dispose of quickly so I decided to try the running with scissors way to kill them off but it didn't do anything. They just picked them up and the scissors disappeared. I was like"what the...". I couldn't understand why they didn't at least run with them a little.
So now I know. Thanks for the link, I try it again to see if it works this time Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: DMDye on 2006 March 24, 04:25:32 Thank you for the information and link!
Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: MissDoh on 2006 March 24, 04:25:48 I was actually going to ask if someone still had the original more lethal version but seeing as how it wouldn't work with OFB anyhow I suppose it's a moot point. Well if ever you still want it, I still have the original version in a .package format, just PM me. Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: Ellatrue on 2006 March 24, 08:48:29 I thought they were more likely to die if they had a drink at the bar first... was that just a stupid riumor from the BBS?
Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: BlueSoup on 2006 March 24, 08:53:08 Hehe. Don't drink and run, kids!
I never heard that, but then I haven't played with the scissors much. Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: anelca on 2006 March 24, 09:01:16 theres a lot i've never done in the sims (vampires, zombies) and scissors is one of them
is this an object which needs Uni? if so i can't get them till i reinstall that EP from a replacement copy i'm having to buy cos i've lost one of my original discs ::) Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: BlueSoup on 2006 March 24, 09:16:28 I don't think you need Uni. Base game works.
Title: Re: New Maxis "Runs With Scissors" Object update for OFB Post by: anelca on 2006 March 24, 09:30:44 ok thanks BlueSoup
i can give it a go anyway. quite like the idea of impalement by scissors as a method of death edit: got it. it is base game. moment of confusion as it wanted my username and password, neither of which i have used since i registered my base game :D |
