Title: But I want to move house!!
Post by: flowerchile on 2006 March 08, 12:20:14
I don't know if anyone has sussed this out but apparently if you move into a new house, you not only lose your relationships, rewards, etc; but now it seems you will lose your business, stock AND Simoleans.  That SUCKS.  I love moving house and I don't wanna have to sell my business first.   :'(

Does this happen even if your businesses are not in your house, and are on community lots?

I haven't actually done it, but yes; according to the booklet that came with the EP, it will happen with the Community Lot.  I'm not game to test it myself. ::)

I think what the booklet meant was that if you move the house and occupants of that house into the BIN you will lose all relationships, etc.  You can move your Sims into a new house just like always.  You can even move the houses and businesses around the map, just don't put them in the bin.  (Have already done this.)

What if you just move the occupants into the bin in order to move them to a bigger and better house? (I can understand if it is a home business why you would lose business related perks, but not a community business.) I would think the data should be attached to the Sim or the community lot, not the residential lot.

If that is the case it messes with the point of the game of "building your empire".

Moving an occupied LOT into the bin removes relationships, etc.

Moving a family into the Sim Bin works as it always did. Relationships, simoleans, etc. are maintained.

I think the Maxian logic behind this is that when you move an occupied lot to the bin, it's generally because you want to transfer them to a new neighbourdhood.  There is no other reason you would want to do that.  That's why you loose all the links to the current neighbourdhood.  Unfortunately, they did a half-ass job of it, and moving a occupied lot to the lot bin has nasty consequences.  Unless they have fixed it in this new EP.  One can always hope.

Moving a family to the family bin is totally safe.
