Title: Community lot business skilling
Post by: Elvie on 2006 March 06, 20:40:54
I know a lot of you use commlotskilling.  I don't, but maybe you can help me anyway :)

My Sims gain cooking skill points on community business lots.  I had a business owner "make many" lunch meat sandwiches and he started racking up cooking points.  He didn't get a progress bar, just a pop-up.  I sent him to the piano - he played for several hours, but no creativity (he had none to start with).

I haven't tested this with either visitors or a bookcase.

Bug, or feature?

As you can open a business at your residential house, your business is considerred as a residential house, i.e. your home. That's why Maxis demands not to save the store while the owner is in it - the simulator doesn't know which home is the right one.

So, it's normal that your playing sim will gain skill points at his business.

But take him to a community lot in the original hood - comm-skilling won't work...until yesterday...:). JMP updated it, and now your playable sims can gain skill points in any community lot.

My question probably isn't as clear as I wanted it to be... :)

I know that Sims can gain skills normally at home businesses.

I don't use commskilling, but I had a business owner, on his own community lot, gaining cooking points while he cooked.  Before OFB, they couldn't do this without hacks.

My question was, is OFB supposed to allow Sims to learn how to cook on community lots?  Without hacks?

Yes, Gali is saying that you can.

Your business on a COMMUNITY lot is considered part of your home even though it ain't. So all the home rules basically apply, excepting for sleeping as I understand it.

thanks for heads up. I didn't know the oh so awesome one had updated one of my fav hacks :P
Now combine that with Echo's sleepable beds, my life (oops, my sim's life) is finally going to get easier.
