Title: Debug messages
Post by: Cyron on 2006 March 06, 11:46:43
Hi there,
I read (at EA BBS) if we have troubles getting our lots loaded with OFB we should turn on testingcheats and try to load the lot. In case there's an error message coming up, we should click on "delete" and the lot loads. I tried this and it works - BUT
- what am I deleting there? For instance, my error messages (this happend two times with different lots) told me there's a problem with a 2D texture on an object regarding the renuyu senso orb (strange, I didn't use that object on those lots). Sorry I don't have the exact words off hand.

Uhm... anyone? You can speak C++ if you like.

It might help if you attatch the relevant error report :) People more awesome than me would probably be able to tell exactly what is going on ;)

Thanks.  :)
I just found another thread regarding the senso orb, so this issue is known. There's only remaining the question what's being deleted when I click on the delete button. Is it just the faulty data in the lot- or character file(s) or does it change something in the core data (so clicking the button affects the whole game)?

I think it just deletes the offending object from the lot.

It deletes the problem object from the lot, identically to what would happen if the lot were working normally, you went into buy mode, and picked up the object and sold it back.

That's great news. Thanks a lot.  :)
So I'm on the safe side when I use this method.

I'm glad I didn't have to find that message on the BBS.  It was followed by idiotic gasps of

"NOOOOO!!!!111!  BAD BOOOLPROP!!!!11!!!"

That and several other reasons are why I'm here.  ;D
