Title: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: sanmonroe on 2006 March 06, 09:37:37 Thanks to OFB you no longer have to use nannies to feed, change, etc your little brats if you are too lazy.
Simply cage them up, put 4 snapdragons around them, and it will keep all their needs but energy at max. If in a crib the baby/toddler just passes out and wakes up still full, no need to poop, no need for social, etc. Sadly 3 snapdragons nearby have the same effect on adult sims, making any activity only limited by a slowed down energy decay rate. Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: Jysudo on 2006 March 06, 11:53:39 Cool! Thanks for heads up.
But I intend Servo to be the nanny. Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: J. M. How do they affect motives?Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: RainbowTigress on 2006 March 06, 12:23:29 They apparently have the magical quality of raising all motives except energy for sims who are nearby.
Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: Ness on 2006 March 06, 12:28:13 but what the hell ARE they? and where do we find them?!
Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: radiophonic on 2006 March 06, 12:36:11 You still need a nanny as you cannot leave them alone in the house.
JM's baby controller will do the job for you, what's the big deal? Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: TheCheat on 2006 March 06, 12:38:54 Snapdragons are the flowers that you get as a result of crafting with a gold Talent Badge on the floral-crafting station.
Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: RainbowTigress on 2006 March 06, 12:45:03 I love the baby controller. I don't know what the problem is either. I don't know why people refuse to use it. I thought Sims were smart in the beginning because they always seemed to know when they needed to be fed...but then I realized that they were ALWAYS feeding them, and they would never change their diaper without my telling them to. Around that time, I discovered the baby controller, and I decided to give it a try. I've been in love with it ever since. It has freed me from micromanaging my tots and babies. And it has freed my sims from having to harrass them constantly.

Post by: radiophonic on 2006 March 06, 13:27:06 You mean servo cannot be nanny? I couldn't tell you. I don't have the EP. Can the robot be a nanny? Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: Ancient Sim on 2006 March 06, 13:30:24 Servo can be a nanny insofar as he is part of the household and can look after the baby in the same way any other household member can. You'd still need a nanny if he had a job, though. My Servo is desperate to be a Mad Scientist (when he's not stuffing himself with food nobody else wants and constantly getting extremely fat) so he's just got himself started as an Inventor. This is quite appropriate as he will shortly be making himself a mate.
Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: RainbowTigress on 2006 March 06, 15:04:47 What does a fat robot look like? I have wondered this. Do you have pictures?
Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: veilchen on 2006 March 06, 15:40:24 Agreed on both counts Rainbow :D
Without the baby-controller, there would be no babies in my game, they would all grow up in a hurry, even if I would have to join the ranks of the kitten-killers for that, lol. And I do have a servo, but I haven't played her much. I didn't even know they could eat, let alone grow fat. I'd love to see that. Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: Motoki on 2006 March 06, 15:58:39 It will never be the end of the nannies for me. Well, maybe if they start functioning properly and cease to be outrageous and amusing I will stop using them, but not until then. ;D
Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: Maria on 2006 March 06, 17:04:39 And I do have a servo, but I haven't played her much. I didn't even know they could eat, let alone grow fat. I'd love to see that. Yeah, I had to take the fridge away, because my servo had a thing for salmon and it was taking her away from her duties at the cash register. As for the kiddies, Waterlily Delarosa got through her infant and toddler years with only two diaper changes and one bottle of smart milk. If her family sim dad hadn't wanted to teach her talking/walking/potty, she would have spent her entire toddler years alternating between gaining skills and napping on the floor (if comfort isn't an issue, and it is not when you have snapdragons, there's no reason not to let the toddler sleep on the floor). Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: sanmonroe on 2006 March 06, 17:14:19 but what the hell ARE they? and where do we find them?! They are the gold badge flower arranging pot of flowers. Every half hour or so they emit a stink that regens all motives except energy but seems to slow energy decay. Just have a sim build flowers for a couple days and they can make them. Cost is somethng like 240$ each. 3 of them near an adult sim give +3 green arrows to all your motives. I was able to use a sim and get gold in robotics in 2 sessions (only stopped to sleep one time) just by placing 3 of them next to the crafting station. They are another stupid easy way to rais loyalty. Scatter them around your shop or venue and all the sims will be in amazing moods all the time. The problem is they won't want to leave your shop, so some of them will get stuck hanging out, chatting, dancing, dry humping the pots, etc. And if you ask them to leave it seems they steal whatever they had in their basket (can't be sure, but have never seen a sim I ask to leave pay for anything). Every so often you need to close the shop, cash out anyone who needs to pay, then reopen just to clear out the hangers on. Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: Ness on 2006 March 06, 20:07:49 I've been playing with a toy shop so haven't had much to do with flowers
servo is pretty decent so far - although I can't fathom the maxian inconsistency in having servo go nuts when he's sent to the pool, but being perfectly fine takings showers, baths, cleaning puddles, drinking water and jumping in the hot tub! Just doesn't make sense! As for the baby controller - wouldn't be without it! I served my penance of raising 8 generations of sims without macros - very happy to have some of the micromanagement dealt with now. Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: sara_dippity on 2006 March 06, 20:11:14 Aww man, I had been avoiding posts about the flowers because I was hoping that whatever snapdragons did would be a surprise. I don't know I would have noticed the motives though, unless it was in the flower description.
I hoped they would bite people. Oh well. Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: LordHellscream on 2006 March 06, 20:15:55 OMG thanks for this info
i was thinking if flowers arranging is a totally worthless talent luckily both my servo couple have gold badge in that lol Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: Elvie on 2006 March 06, 20:58:07 Maybe someone Awesome could make a hack that would prevent Servo from wanting to eat? EVERYtime s/he eats, s/he loses fitness, and Servo likes to eat >:(
Does Servo have any special "robotic" wants, or just regular Sim wants? Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 March 06, 21:03:21 Does Servo have any special "robotic" wants, or just regular Sim wants? You mean like destroying all humans? Apparently not.Title: Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! Post by: akatonbo on 2006 March 06, 21:05:22 So is Servo actually more difficult to control than normal Sims, or are y'all just nowhere near as micromanaging as I am?

Post by: sanmonroe on 2006 March 06, 22:59:30 Does Servo have any special "robotic" wants, or just regular Sim wants? You mean like destroying all humans? Apparently not.He gets those wants after going swimming! The best thing is sims can't pass out on comm lots. So if you have servo alone on a comm lot he never shuts down when insane!!! My dream of servo, that one day a Robot-Moses character will come nd lead them to the human killing promised land. Someone like this. Too Much Spare Time, with music by Neil Cicierega a.k.a. Lemon Demon. Very funny. Takes a while to load, though.
