Title: Changelotzoning problems... is this a known bug or fixable?
Post by: Persephone on 2006 March 03, 09:11:03
I downloaded a community lot because I love the building, but I want to change it to a home business.  So I stripped it of all objects and then used changelotzoning residential to change it to a home lot.  I put a family in there and it appeared to work, but when I load the lot it just goes into build mode as if it were still a community lot.

Did you put a mailbox and residential trashcan on it?

Nope! ooops... would that fix it?  Will I have to download that stuff?  I thought you could switch back and forth via the cheat and the game takes care of it.

You can change back and forth and you will need the cheat to zone it residential, but the family won't load in the lot without (definitely) the mailbox and (possibly) the trashcan.  Do you have OFB installed?

Yes.  Ok, but I'll have to download a buymode mailbox right?  I think i've seen those around somewhere.  I've used the cheat to make a home into a dorm, and so on, but I realized I've never turned a lot that started as a community lot into a residential before.  Thanks, I knew it was going to be something dumb I did wrong.

Some people with OFB have reported some problems with placing items on the mailbox even with the moveobjects cheat on - so I don't know if this will still be possible with OFB.

You need to turn on moveobjects on to place the mailbox and trashcan.

Bad news:  the only place where I know of where you can get the mailbox and trashcan is Carrigon;s residential collection from Variousimmers and since she's not there and VS is up in flames.....

Sorta good news...I have that collection in my collection folder, but am not sure which one it is. I have attached my entire collections folder - it will be one of those files.

Thanks!  You solved it.  Found it in your 'weirdo' collection, and now the lot loads fine.  So happy! Thankyou!

Glad it works for you.
Just to clarify so someone doesn't come beat me up - that's Carrigon's weirdo collection.  ;)
