Title: House crashes upon Entry
Post by: idtaminger on 2006 February 27, 01:45:04
Ever since NL, one of my houses has absolutely refused to load, with or without CC. Every time I click on it the game hangs forever, and eventually shows a crash dialog box. I spent ages decorating this house, as it's huge, and I'm reluctant to just boot my sims out, in the process losing the decor. To be honest, I'm actually more fond of my decor than of the sims themselves. I'm willing to lose the sims if necessary. So, is there any way I could possibly salvage the interiors? Either via SimPE or some other process?

Does the house package?  If it does, you could just package it and hopefully whatever it is that is hanging it up will be corrected.

Well, sims are still living in it. I thought it was bad to package lots w/ sims on them?

And if I move them out, then I'm assuming the furniture goes along w/ them...

Well, you're only packaging the lot for your own use.  Also, when you reinstall the lot, you can deselect the family and Sims with the Clean Installer.  Back up your game, and install into an empty neighbourhood, just in case the Clean Installer messes it up.

Did you try loading the lot with the testingcheats enabled? It sometimes catches errors/objects that leave houses hanging on load, like the corrupted lights in some of the downtown lots.
