Title: Does this mesh look like this in your game?
Post by: Regina on 2006 February 25, 02:51:32
Imagine my surprise when my sim-self showed up at my daughter's wedding wearing this dress!  She'd recently turned into an elder and hadn't bought new formalwear.  I thought, "Why on earth am I trying to dress like a shrub?"

This is a NL mesh.  I'm wondering if it behaves this badly in everyone's game or if it's just me!  :-[

A few people have had this problem. Because it doesn't look like that in my game I suspect it's because of graphic settings and/or how good the videocard is.

Edit: Silly typo

Oh my!  This is the first time I've seen this problem. LOL  I was thinking, 'Honey, if you're going to go camouflage you might try something a bit better than that!'  :P

Well that's an interesting way of looking at it.  :D

Hmmm.  I may have to try it on another one--when I get another elder.

I can't say I'm too crazy about this design, but the mesh has a lot of potential.  Another thing I noticed weird is that she has TWO formalwear dresses when I never bought her any.  Mayhaps the other one is a carry-over from when she was an adult--I don't remember if she had it or not.  I know some of the outfits in NL do carry over, which is really nice.

I think that outfit might have a problem dependant on the graphic detail setting but i'm not sure.  I remember hearing something about one of the outfits doing that, if the detail level was too low it would look whacked.

I think fitness affected some of the outfits too, like if a sim was fat the outfit sort of exploded like that

edit - yup, I checked, same dress - fat elder - dress exploded

and my computer kicks ass so the graphic settings are all set high

Yep I just checked in my game too. If the elder is fat it explodes if slim it is ok.

Heh, well, time to find a dress that fits, rather than one that will explode when you put it in your fat ass.

ROFLOL!  That's basically what I was thinking!  Yep, that would probably explain the problem.  My sim-self is fat (and I work hard to keep her that way--too bad RL isn't like that!)--and she's not going to get fit just for that dress!  ;D

I did read in here others had the same kind of problem with some fat elder outfits.

I don't remember though if there was a work around it.... sorry....

I've had that shredded dress in my game too.  Haven't found a solution, I just don't use it :(

How do you put a dress in your ass???

I've got that issue with that dress in all of its color variations, as does my girlfriend. As we just purchased new graphics cards and our Sims are always fat, I've always just assumed that's an issue with the fat sim mesh or something? The first time it happened the me!Sim was wearing the dress and our response was basically "that looks painful."

There are a few outfits that do this on fat sims, its some morphing issue that Maxis forgot to fix...

You sure it's a typo...?

Yes, when I bugged Pescado about it, all he said was, "SILENCE, YOU!"

Which tells me it was indeed a typo.  ;D

That's why we have to pick on him when he does.  I have seen him type "teh" before, in chat.  And once I saw him forget a "/" in a quote tag, but he came back and fixed it.   ;D
