Title: After a BIG house Post by: Database on 2006 February 22, 19:36:49 I'm looking for a very BIG house - I'm starting up a family like Brynne's :P
Can anyone help, please? Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: Brynne on 2006 February 22, 19:44:12 I converted a dorm.
Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: Ancient Sim on 2006 February 22, 19:46:53 Why don't you try a townhouse? You can add storeys ad infinitum with those, especially if you use one of the single-tile staircases or ladders that you just plonk in any old place. I have quite a few double townhouses with 4 storeys apiece, you can get hundreds of Sims in 'em.
Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: Sleepycat on 2006 February 22, 20:19:57 check these out and see if you like them.
http://www.insimenator.net/showthread.php?t=291 ;D They both have alot of extra space in them. I have other Lots uploaded at InSim but most of them are "affordable" and smaller but they can all be added on to without having to rip the whole house apart to do it. One of these I'm going to get back into building more houses to share... Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: Database on 2006 February 22, 20:33:08 Brynne: Cool, I might do that :)
Ancient: Bleh. I hate those :P Sleepycat: Thanks! I'll take a look Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: podgeybean on 2006 February 22, 20:46:58 check these out and see if you like them. http://www.insimenator.net/showthread.php?t=291 ;D He he. Randomly stumble across this topic, and find 2 wonderful lots. Glad someone asked for larger houses .They are great! I think Ill use 35 Lucky lane next time I play. P.s. Hi Data! Pimping one of my apartment buildings. Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: ElfPuddle on 2006 February 22, 21:30:51 Not a large house, but I find it helpful with big families....
The Grand Trianon Loft Bedroom set from the Dream Team at MTS2...I can't give you a link because that site gets banned from the school filter. But, if no one kind find it before I get home (in two hours), I'll get it to you then. Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: BlueSoup on 2006 February 22, 21:32:25 Here's the link for the Grand Trianon (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=76172&highlight=Grand+Trianon) series.

Just dump the Madam and "friendly ladies". http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/lot_detail.php?asset_id=5104&asset_type=lot&user_id=152626 One day I may update it for Uni and NL. Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: vilia on 2006 February 23, 11:53:16 You could try thesims2.com as they tend to feature and really big user created houses...
Ah stuff it, avoid the hassle and go straight to LaverwinkleSims http://www.laverwinklesims.com/ - you won't regret it. This house I made is large, although it only has two bedrooms - but there's room to place more stairs and build upwards. Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: gypsylady on 2006 February 23, 17:27:59 That is a really nice house ZephyrZodiac.
Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 23, 17:33:55 Glad you like it! I've got others, but I need to drag myself away from my game to finish tidying them up and making the pics etc. before I can upload them anywhere!
Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: gypsylady on 2006 February 23, 17:58:50 My building skills suck. My houses usually look alike. I start out trying to make them different but somehow they always look like a box.I have better luck with remodeling the ones that came with the game when my Sims need more room.
ETA.Ouch that hurt there went my lips :o Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 23, 18:05:36 Well, mostly box-shaped houses are good because they work well, so why run yourself down? The wierd and extravagant designs which look so wonderful often are extremely difficult to play, with sims getting stuck in corners etc! I tend to go for fairly simple shapes and open-plan kitchen/dining areas with lots of room for sims to manouevre around each other! And since most of my houses are in a half finished state when I tidy them up, they are still fairly adaptable.

So true I have found this with a few I have downloaded.Tthey looks so beautiful but in play mode I have had to either redesign them or get rid of them because they are unplayable as they are. Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 23, 18:13:46 Like so many Maxian ones! ;D
Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: Assmitten on 2006 February 23, 18:32:19 Yes, chiming in to say that the houses on laverwinkle are lovely! I love building my own, but I love looking at other people's ideas to get me out of a rut. There is a lot of ugly modern townhouse construction in my neighborhood and I find myself being influenced by that. So it's nice to see the pretty old-style houses on laverwinkle. ;D
Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: anelca on 2006 February 24, 01:32:24 those laverwinkle houses are great....thanks for the link ;D
i tend to build my own and sometimes i load them up on MTS2. i don't have any up there now as i took them all off a few days ago i have to keep to small lots and i quite like a boxy looking house. i can modify it if i want to. the external decorations and simple layouts work very well. those houses with lots of rooms, dormers and corridors are pretty horrendous to play Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 24, 01:36:33 Not to mention those Maxis houses where they've tried to build a classical villa, or the Summerdream lot where they've tried to make an amphitheatre! How can you play a house when wherever you turn there's a darn palm tree blocking your view! (I know you can use the tree-hider, but that's not the point, Maxis didn't have the tree hider, and they allowed those houses into the game!)
Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: Emma on 2006 February 24, 14:49:15 Tree hider Zeph? What's that and where can I get it? ;D
Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: BlueSoup on 2006 February 24, 14:51:13 www.simlogical.com for hiders. :)
Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: Emma on 2006 February 24, 14:51:35 Thanks Blue :-*
Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 24, 15:14:55 It's an extremely useful little object - as is the ceiling light hider! The really useful thing about them is, when the object is hidden, you can't click on it, even if it normally appears to take up half the room! (Which some lights, including the Maxis paper moon, appear to do!)
Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: Emma on 2006 February 24, 17:41:02 Yes, I noticed that-I tried for ages to click on the baby's crib, not realising the paper moon light was covering it! I've downloaded the ceiling light and tree hiders.
Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 24, 17:49:29 Yes, it's annoying enough when you get a custom ligt that does it, but when it's one of Maxis own and not even a recolour, it's really frustrating! I used to have one over a dining table and could never click on it to get the sims to clean up - of course, since NL it's rarely necessary, now I want to be able to click on the plate and tell the sim to LEAVE IT ALONE! (And let one of the other sims clean up ALL the plates! I get so sick of the trail all over the house to find a free sink!)
Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: anelca on 2006 February 24, 20:06:48 heh...that annoys the crap out of me too....if one sim is already clearing up why does everyone else have to get in on the act ::)
it's bad enough in a small house, all that schlepping across it to find a sink. then the others decide to just lay the crockery down willy-nilly all over the house Title: Re: After a BIG house Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 24, 20:19:26 I remember in sims1 that (a) they weren't so keen to clear up, and (b) they would often wait their turn at the sink or dish-washer!
what we need is a hacked dish-washer that somehow prevents sims from trying to use sinks! |
