Title: still some surprises...
Post by: AllenABQ on 2006 February 10, 06:13:36
This evening while playing I had a female sim with toddler home by themselves for the evening.  Her mother showed up on the lot, but I didn't see her nor did I hear any doorbell ring.  I finally caught a glimpse of her as she started walking around the side of the house.

Much to my surprise, the mother stopped in front of the window, turned to face looking into the house, and waved to her daughter who was standing on the other side of the window looking out.  The daughter then proceeded to queue up an action to chat with her mother and headed for the door.

I'd never seen this kind of interaction before and wonder if it wasn't some random fluke that looked like a natural sequence of events.  "Not answering the door? I'll go peek in the windows and wave if I see you to get your attention!"

 :D

Pretty cool!

Speaking of surprises, I was playing Nina Caliente in her new house after the birth of her (oops! ;D ) son Carlos, and I was randomly waving the pointer around the screen when I noticed there was an action available on the coffee table.  I clicked on it and the option 'Do Yoga' came up.  I clicked on that and Nina walked up to the coffee table (which happens to be under a hanging light).  A message came up that as there was something on the ceiling, it would get in the way and she couldn't do yoga.  I moved the light and chose yoga again.  She then vaulted onto the table and proceeded to do the normal yoga poses.  When she was done she backflipped back onto the floor.

Has this been around since time immemorial and I've just been too stupid to notice it until now?

That's a new one on me, too.

I also recently found out that the rugs that came with NL allow sims to give others' static electric shocks.  Funny!  But I guess can't be done with the hacked rugs from prior to NL.

I've had the kids do the electro-static charge on their parents...it's quite funny to see the evil little girns on their faces when they approach with their finger sticking out at the ready and zap the unsuspecting sim  :D

I've never encountered what you had happen Allen, or your yoga surprise Vecki....it seems this game has a lot of little surprises and perhaps more that are yet to be discovered!!  ;D

Geez...I thought a Yoga mat would be more comfortable and condusive to reaching a *'Nirvana' type state though?

*not the band (though they do rock!!)

I still have not seen the static shock thing..then again..I think my sims need more rugs in their homes.

That's funny about the mother stalking around outside.  I had that happen too, or what appeared to be, but the sim needed greeted.

Alex Goth was stalking around outside the home of his former lover who had his child.  When nobody paid him any attention he moved around the lot and appeared to be looking into the windows, it was sourta creepy lol

My outgoing sims sometimes automonously greet visitors-only when they have rung the doorbell though! I have only seen it very few times.

Hehe, just yesterday I learnt that toddlers could play in the trash.  :o

Title: Re: still some surprises...
Post by: Emma on 2006 February 10, 10:04:56
The trash piles? They always could! I remember when I just had the base game, I was dealing with some other sim on the lot, and I thought the toddler was playing with the rabbit toy....no, in the trash! The pile was huge, the toddler stunk, and the roaches were everywhere!

I love it when a parent arrives on the lot and you tell your sim to greet them and they run hell for leather out to greet them, parent opens arms wide and they leap into their arms!  Hermia Capp, (nee Monty) does it whenever either of the Monty elders turns up for an unexpected visit!

Some sims seem to visit more than others.  In my original Pleasantview, the Brokes in particular were always round each other's houses, especially Brandi's youngest, who was family.  In my current one though, the family who do this most are one of my own families - the mother is Romance and one of her sons is Pleasure and they visit each other everytime I play their lots, on a daily basis more or less.  I find it rather creepy in a way, because it's clear that if they weren't related they'd probably have 3 lightning bolts and I think somewhere deep down they know that.  A bit yucky.  I've not had anyone peering into windows as far as I know, but mine are either auto-greeted by the DMA Teleporter or if it's switched off I see them and get someone to greet them.  I'll have to try not greeting them and see what happens.

The youngest Broke in my game is always Romance, with 10 points outgoing (Leo) and he just drops in when he feels like it.  When he was at college, if no-one was home, he'd just hop into the hot-tub until they got back!  But he still kicked over dustbins of sims he hadn't met!

I have some outgoing sims, who will just walk right in and make themselves at home (watch tv/soak tub etc) without ringing the doorbell.

I didn't know about the yoga or the rug, I'll have to try those.

I always like these kind of threads because usually there are many things we haven't discovered yet.

The most recent thing that I discovered was that sims can peek into vampire's coffins while they are asleep, and the sim peaking gets scared :P I'm quite sure that many people know this but I only noticed it recently. Always a suprise when you've had the game for like 4-5 months and just find something new.

I know i had that happen to me.  I had moved the elder parent of an adult sims out of the house. They had a 20/20 relationship.  I don't remember if I invited him or he came on his own, but I saw my sim run out the door to hug his papa.  I thought it was so sweet !! It's hard to remember that it's all programmed in when stuff like that happens.

It may be programmed in, but since only some sims seem to do it, it's always a pleasant surprise when it happens!  I wonder if it's just family sims who do  it though?  Hermia of course is family, as are both her parents.

My mind is playing tricks, I don't mean Hermia, do I?  I get so confused with all those Shakespearian names - I mean the one who's in love with kent Capp, not Juliette's sister!  Just can't think of her name!

My most recent surprise was the 'ruin painting' autonomous action that certain Sims get when they've been raised badly and are in a foul mood.

Title: Re: still some surprises...
Post by: IgnorantBliss on 2006 February 10, 19:40:32
I don't think the "ruin painting" has to do with being raised badly, but being on a bad mood and having high creativity skill.

Title: Re: still some surprises...
Post by: ElviraGoth on 2006 February 10, 21:44:00
I've seen the rug "shock" thing, but I haven't seen the others.  The only sims I've seen peeking in the windows are the paper boy/girl and the gardener.  The paper boy creeped me out the first time I saw it, because the sim in the house was in her undies at the time!

Title: Re: still some surprises...
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 10, 23:29:15
I've never ever seen the "ruin painting"!  And I have plenty of sims with high creativity!  Maybe they only do it if the painter is not a friend?

But I recently was rather surprised at Capp Manor (the original one from which I moved everyone out as it's so darn ridiculous to play!) when a passing townie walked three sim miles to the front door to read the newspaper that the old boy had left there!  I mean, it would have been quicker to walk to the next inhabited lot and pick up the paper there!

Title: Re: still some surprises...
Post by: Dark Trepie on 2006 February 10, 23:41:16
The whole Capp Manor lot is somewhat awkward to play.  I have to keep the camera pointed toward the road just in case someone interesting walks by because I'll never know otherwise if they do.

Incorpterating a garage on that lot was quite a task too, though I managed.  But it looks rather out of place on that hilly terrain.

Title: Re: still some surprises...
Post by: IgnorantBliss on 2006 February 10, 23:46:11
A correction to what I said: Apparently the "ruin painting" option can also be available for sims with low creativity skills, but the difference is that, with a sim of high creativity skill, ruining the painting may actually raise its value.

Well, all three large lots (Capp Manor, Monty ranch and the Summerdream monstrosity) have now become part of the scenery, and the inhabitants moved to more spacious houses with smaller estates!  What really annoyed me, though, was when I tried to improve the house next door to the Summerdreams (the one with the maze) there was something totally bugged about the staircases.  When I got rid of them I couldn't tile over the gap, even though I tried everything I could think of, including exiting and rebooting in an attempt to reset the lot.  Nothing worked!

Ignorant Bliss - how do I get my sims to do it?  Should I make them nastier?

Title: Re: still some surprises...
Post by: Dark Trepie on 2006 February 11, 00:32:52
I've only really started playing Veronaville recently.  While Capp Manor and Monty Ranch are managable.  That Summerdream house is just...  grah!  They can barely make it to their carpools with about 2 seconds to spare.

That hood has some of the worst looking pre-made sims in it too.  The Montys all look decent for the most part, and all of the younger generations of the Capps look pretty good.  But the older Capps all look pretty strange.  I had Kent Capp and Bianca Monty get married and have a baby.  That poor little girl is going to need a plastic surgary machine in the near future.

Title: Re: still some surprises...
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 11, 01:00:30
They got married in my game too - after I'd been through simPE and unchecked loads of family ticks for them and others that shouldn't ever have been there!  The summerdreams appeared to be related to nearly every sim they'd ever met!

But I don't think their daughter is ugly in my game - not so I noticed anyway - but I'd had a stuck twin scenario first time around and had to exit without saving and then go through it all again, and this time Bianca had just the one baby girl.  So maybe because things went wrong the first time I got a different set of genetics second time around!

The Montys aren't as bad as the Capps in appearance, I'd agree with that - but poor Romeo in my game grew up with the most enormous hooked nose that appeared to start above his eyebrows and a mouth with a lower lip that looked like he'd been stung by a swarm of bees!  so he got plastic surgery as soon as he moved into his house at uni!

I got a message tonight that I've never seen before.  Sim Jen Warren was invited downtown and had quite a successful outing (Super).  Straight after Sim Trepie told her what a good time they'd all had (while he was in the middle of attacking Cassandra, no less - I found this hilarious as his head popped-up from the fight at the same time he said it) she got a message saying something like "One can assume that wit can be acquired by hanging out with intellectuals.  Jen picked up a point of Logic skill".  This might be because she can't get any help in her career, she's already reached the top of Slacker.

Oh, and Trepie isn't in the habit of starting fights, incidentally.  Cassandra had done nothing but poke and slap him from the minute she arrived on the lot (no idea why). so I can only assume he'd had enough.

Wow.  I can't say my SimTrepie has ever been at odds with Cassandra.  He is however the bitterest of enemies with her father Mortimer.  One too many shovings from looking through the telescope.

Title: Re: still some surprises...
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 11, 01:27:48
Cassandra in my game was forever at community lots downtown - not so much picking fights as eyeing up the talent!  If any sim has the morals of an alleycat, it's Cassandra!

Sorry, Cassandra tried it on with anything remotely male between YA and elder, plain or ugly!  Poor girl is so desperate to have a baby!  (I've plenty of family sims who never get that want until they're married, and then infrequently!)

Ignorant Bliss - how do I get my sims to do it?  Should I make them nastier?

Supposedly there is a random chance the option pops up when the sim is in a bad mood. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with personality.

After your sims ruin a painting, do you keep the painting? I heard that it makes the painting dissapear (no, I'm not talking about "scrap painting"). I know it's supposed to increase the value, guide told me that, but a few people said the action "ruin painting" coming up in the que made it vanish.

Cassandra behaved with reasonable propriety in my game until just recently.  She and Darren are now elders, and their son Michael asked his boyfriend to move in.  Well, now in addition to Michael farting hearts for his squeeze and Darren farting hearts for Cassandra, I have her farting hearts for the boyfriend, and the boyfriend is farting hearts not only for Michael but for Darren.  Michael, apparently, is oblivious to all this chemistry brewing like some noxious industrial soup.

In addition, while she was always careful to get herself to the toilet in plenty of time before, now she hangs about and whines about having to pee until it's far too late, and pisses herself where she stands.  This has happened three times now, and she's been an elder for only three days.  Even though I always locate bathrooms conveniently, I may just have to remodel their home to include some toilet rooms -- one off each main room, by the look of things -- until some modder invents SimDepends.

I got so excited about this one I lined it up and copped an error message about doing it three times.  (You need to click on the child).  I had "play with fridge door"," rummage through garbage can", in which they found something that had been thrown out, "play", in the shower/bath, and in Uni ages ago I had "leave world", when they were going to class.  Yeh, of course I clicked on it:  good thing I saved coz they were no more..

Apparently, this has been mentioned before in various other threads. The heart farting, as you so eloquently put it ;) doesn't necessarily mean that the sim doing the farting has the hots for the sim they are farting the hearts all over. It is most likely a side effect of sims sharing their "memories" of fartings hearts all over their lovers. One sim will "tell" another sim just how much they've farted hearts over their lover. The other sim now has this "memory" and whenever they think of it, they get the same heart farting in their thought bubbles. This is probably the case, especially if you don't necessarily see any lightning bolts in the relationship panel between the two sims in question. ::)

This is sort of expected since this is the way elders have been programmed "by design" Elders apparently have to pee every hour on the hour or something. ::) Some things that might help remedy this are combos of the sleepclock and the bathroomusesyou, and probably Inge's "elders sleep through the night" hack.

... in Uni ages ago I had "leave world", when they were going to class.  Yeh, of course I clicked on it:  good thing I saved coz they were no more..

Well... what did you expect would happen? The sim did exactly what you told them to do. :P That reminds me of this episode of Arrested Development, when Michael looks into a bag that he found in the fridge, which is labeled "Dead Pigeon. Don't Eat!" so he takes a look inside, and then he says something to the effect, "Well, I don't know what I expected." As if he should have expected something else when the bag was clearly labeled. ROFL ;D

Now that is pure genius! And I'm sad to say that the 3rd season is over. I'm still holding out and hoping that it will get picked up by another network. *crosses fingers... and toes... and elbows* :P

Get gnomon's flamingoes from Simlogical and put the flamingo of contentment on any lot with elders living there.  Doesn't entirely stop the need to pee fairly frequently, but makes it less annoying as if you don't queue them to go, there bladder will become only half-full again.  I've never had an elder pee on the floor since I started putting them on my lots, which is probably why it was the only reported nanny problem I DIDN'T get!

I've noticed this with a few Sims as well, makes it pretty clear that the chemistry is calculated for everyone and just suppressed for relatives. One of my Sims was as platonically all over one of his stepdaughters as he could be as soon as she turned into a teen; he and her Romance Sim mother just divorced right after he turned elder, and bam! No longer related, they had two bolts to start with :P

That's not nice!  Step-siblings I can understand, after all, they don't choose to be someone's step-child and therefore a stepsibling to that person's children, but when you take on the responsibility of being a step-parent, it should be a lifetime commitment!

Heh, yeah, you'd think so. Well, considering the Sims can't even recognize their own great-grandchildren, it's probably too much to hope that an ex-stepdaughter would still be considered related.

I have a Sim just born into a family with some "immortals", so the relations are seriously screwed up without actually being genetic incest - her nieces are also her aunts. (First-gen CAS Sim who had three bolts with her son's girlfriend's son, and they ended up having a daughter.) The mother being semi-immortal, she already has great-grandchildren. The father of her current lover is also the father of one of her sons. I didn't realize why the son's girlfriend wanted to teach skills to the toddler until I realized she was the toddler's grandma... anyway, yeah. Stuff that wouldn't happen in real life, but it amuses me anyway...

I rarely play a hood that long!  Too easily bored, I guess!  But I tend to edit relationships like step-parents, brothers and sister-in-law in SimPE.  I really can't face the idea of Dustin and Beau being furious with Keanu because he's tried it on with one of their wives!  Doesn't seem to stop Keanu getting the wants, though!

Heh, yeah, I'm currently getting annoyed by some of the wants. One of my favorite Sims (Fortune) got his first kiss in college and promptly rolled up the want to get engaged to her, which I allowed. After the marriage, he rolled up a want to have a baby. After that going on, I've been waiting for wants on some of the others in established relationships, but even the Family Sims are neglecting to roll up the customary wants to get married and have a baby... it's really strange. Usually you can get them to want to get engaged or married on a date, too, but that hasn't been happening either. Agh, Sims.

I couldn't keep restarting neighborhoods... I hate having to start from scratch. I've kept this one going since the game first came out. Great-grandchildren of my first CAS adults are as far as it's gotten, though. None of my CAS children have died yet, though they're all elders now, as are the first of my born-in-game. Still, there's plenty I haven't seen, especially since I don't let them get in bad moods/red aspiration too much. Might have to do that more often to see what happens.

I've noticed it a lot with family sims who've graduated - they sometimes don't seem to get the normal family wants.  Maybe they realise there's more to life than popping sprogs?

Zephyr, I'm thinking that post-Uni sims are just entirely too seasoned.  I had a family sim graduate from college and marry and here I was thinking she'd immediately roll the want to have a baby, but nooooo!  She wanted to buy electronic entertainment or some such!  Soon after she and her George got their pinball machine, she rolled the want to have a baby.  Poor uneducated sims just don't know what they're missing.  :P

I've seen more strange wants since installing NL, though.  It used to be no sim in my game other than family ever rolled a want to have a child after having one.  I've now got knowledge sims rolling wants to have second children.

I've got a knowledge sim with the lifetime want of 'Graduate 3 Children from College', rather than max skills or reach the top of a career. He rolled it after reaching mad scientist, which was his first lifetime want. I expected something more like reaching the top of the medical career, but seeing that knowledge Sims can want more children makes that lifetime want seem a little more sensible.

I mean, he is married to a family sim anyway, and their first two children have already graduated college, so it's not that hard to do. It was just a little unexpected.

I'm definitely liking that more than just Family Sims are rolling up the want more often, or at least it seems that way. I have a knowledge Sim who, because she had her first baby as a teen with InTeen, rolled up the want to have that baby when she hit her second day. The same Sim, now an adult, just hit her second day with her second pregnancy and she suddenly rolled the Want to have that one, too. I'm sure it has to do with personality also, but I like it. Otherwise only Family Sims would ever have kids in my game...

Oh, I don't take their wishes into consideration there - All my romance sims end up having kids whether they want to or not!  But I do usually try to grant a Family sim's want if I can.  Unfortunately for one of my poor sims, she and her husband have now tried at least 6 times and no luck at all!  Is the pregnancy modifier also responsible for sterility? ;D

I have a knowledge sim with the same LTW, but in her case she had it straight out of CAS. She'll be getting it because my dice rolls also determined that she would have 3 children out of CAS as well.

Often they only need two kids to graduate to fulfil the LTW.

It actually makes a lot of sense for a Knowledge sim to have that want and it definitly relates to the Private School want - after all, he/she would want the best education for their kids!

ZZ, over on Jase's site he's written about fertility issues of Maxian made sims.  It might be worth a peek if yours isn't CAS made.  His fix is to select the infertile sim and spawn their inteem clock, which you can only do if you use inteem.

No, I'm afraid poor Ruby is one of mine own poor creations!  and I don't know if it's her fault or his!  But I've been using pregnancy for all, so I might take that out and see if she gets pregnant then!

Incidentally, the very first pregnancy I had after installing that hack was a pair of almost identical twins!  Even though one is Sagi and the other Leo (an astrological impossiblity for twins!!!!) their personalities are very similar, each has 10 outgoing and fun, 1 neatness and niceness, so the only difference is that the Leo child has 4 for activity, while the Sagi has 10!  (But you honestly can't tell that one is more active than the other!)  And they have both got the same custom hairstyle, plus their faces are so alike it's impossible to tell them apart in their jammies.

And I just noticed the wierdest thing!  Belle woke up, and I checked to see how her relationship with anna was doing - and a quarter of the icon was RED!  Then, as soon as anna woke up and was available to play, the red section disappeared!  So it seems, Belle was furious with her sister for being ASLEEP!

I saw a sim, Darren Dreamer, snacked directly from the fridge once. He wanted have a swim, so I directed him to take a dip in the pool. He was also quite hungry at the time, and once his swimming want was fulfilled, the pool icon was replaced by a fridge one. I thought the dumbass was going to make a meal himself although food was already being served, but being curious, I moused over the fridge icon to see what he wanted to eat. To my surprise, it said 'stuff face', so I watched as he walked to the fridge, took a few nibbles of vegetables here and there and gulped down some milk from the carton. Smartest thing I've ever seen a sim do :D.

My sims only seem to want to "stuff face" while they're cooking a meal, which then burns.  Stupid sims!

It's only happened that one time in my game, I wouldn't mind watching them burn their food (so long as they don't set it on fire, I make them eat it anyway) for as long as the novelty of seeing them eat directly from the fridge lasts :P.

Update on my latest twins - they have identical DNA!  could it be that JT's mod actually makes clones?  If so, then it's wierd that the kids look more like the non-birth parent!

I checked both parents for pregnancy modifiers too, neither has one.

If you're using TJ's Triplets and Quads hack, then maybe it's the same thing I've noticed. Usually, when I get twins using that, one looks a lot like the 'mother' and the other looks a lot like the 'father'. Even if one of the parents has recessive eye/hair colour, and both are CAS.

I love it when a parent arrives on the lot and you tell your sim to greet them and they run hell for leather out to greet them, parent opens arms wide and they leap into their arms!  Hermia Capp, (nee Monty) does it whenever either of the Monty elders turns up for an unexpected visit!

I love this...so cute. I like it more that it just happens sparadically instead of with every parent/child.

BTW the ruin painting thing...I have only seen children/teens do it when they are in the red in the aspiration meter.

I've seen more strange wants since installing NL, though.  It used to be no sim in my game other than family ever rolled a want to have a child after having one.  I've now got knowledge sims rolling wants to have second children.

I've noticed this too, but it's very rare.  One of my popularity sims actually rolled up the want twice to have a baby each time she was pregnant.  Never had that happen before.  And I actually had a family sim that feared having a baby w/o wanting one at the same time for almost the entire length of his adult age span.

I don't get surprised much anymore but for some reason I had never seen Sims jumping in the flowers until they destroyed them.  Daniel and Mary Sue simply won't let Dustin come over to see Angela anymore after that one.  The trash can kicking was bad enough but that went over the line!

Yeah, I've seen the stamp on flowers.  It was the brother of the one who ruined the painting.  A truly dysfunctional family! :)  I also like the facial expressions used by the children in anticipation of doing the act of destruction.  It's a combination of rage and mischief.  One up to the Maxoids on this - it's a really good feature.  If you only play happy Sims without freewill, then you miss out on quite a few 'Easter Eggs'.

No, I'm only using the Pregnancy for All hack!  And as far as I can tell, they are both clones of Kane, who is not the birth parent.  Not only do they look like him, but they are similar in personality.  One only varies by one point on active, he's 3, she's 4, the other (a sagi instead of a leo) has 10 active, but otherwise is the same.  They are all three neat - 1, outgoing - 10, playful - 10 and nice - 1.

Aron, the birth parent, totally different in looks and personality, a fairly neat Gemini with the elf face, a darker skintone and genetic custom hair.  I've since realised that the hair the twins have is not, as I thought originally, custom, (thought it must be as I forgot, Kane's hair is the Maxis custom hair which you can only apply once the sim is in the game and he therefore has genetic blond hair) but blonde.

I might just add, I've since checked the DNA for both parents - although obviously thre are similarities between the twins and their parents, they don't seem to have just the DNA from one parent, so I don't think they can be clones.

I saw this for the first time yesterday, which makes me think maybe now I knew what to look for because it couldn't have actually been the first time! I was having the adult daughter greet her elder mother when she walked by, to keep her from kicking over the trashcan because she's furious at her ex-husband, and she did that open-arms 'c'mere, c'mere, gimme a hug!' thing, and the daughter raaaan downstairs to hug her. Very cute.

I find it rather creepy in a way, because it's clear that if they weren't related they'd probably have 3 lightning bolts and I think somewhere deep down they know that.  A bit yucky.

Lordy, I effed up a couple of my Uni kids recently by accidentally moving the dorm they were in to the lot bin WHILE they were still in it, so they lost all of their relationships and such.  I had one of their mothers teleported to the lot so I could cheat and make them family again, but before that happened they had 3 lightning bolts for each other and were totally flirting all over the place.  It was nuts.

I also recently found out that the rugs that came with NL allow sims to give others' static electric shocks.  Funny!  But I guess can't be done with the hacked rugs from prior to NL.
How do you do this, just free will only? Or can only children do it. I've been playing Cassandra's house lately and made her walk back and forth on a rug, hoping she could shock her husband. When I made them just stand there, she just wanted to pillowfight (actually her obsession with pillowfighting is one of the reasons I love her).
Yeah, I've gotten neat points from dates twice. First time I thought it was because I cheated the motives up (toddler unpaused game, everything was bottomed out) and the hygene bar was full, second time though the sims were half through their hygene motive and neither one was super neat, just a little. It could be the occasional random skillpoint as a reward for a dream date.

You can get kids to shock teens and adults by having them stand on the rug; when they click on another sim, there's now an option for 'static shock' under the 'Prank' menu.

I'm not sure if it takes Grouchy or Playful or what, but I've seen where kids will do it autonomously - or, well, at least try to. I had one, a visitor, who apparently got distracted before completing the shock, because he was stuck with an evil expression and his finger sticking out for a while even while doing other things. It made for some amusing pictures. I've never actually seen the shock, though, so it's good to know it's not only an autonomous thing...

And I finally saw a pregnant sim rub her own belly and hold her aching back. I had heard about that, but had never in all this time seen it. I think because I just started playing free-will off, so it's something they do when they're standing around with no orders.

Well, I have all my Sims on macrotastics, and she had nothing else to do at that time.  It was right after she had finished doing something, and right before Power Idle kicks in and tells her to sit on the couch quietly.  So, if she's going to be bored after only one minute of inactivity, then I've been letting her live too much of the good life!  Next time, I'll make her clean.  ;D

I've been playing Dina Caliente for the first time ever (well, I always married her off to Mortimer to get her out of my way) and she has introduced two firsts to me.  One night, she went up and tucked Alexander Goth in (I thought they only did this to their own children) and I caught her rubbing her pregnant belly a day or two later.  She's kind of adorable.

They'll tuck in any child they recognise as family.  Teens will also tuck in their younger siblings.

I married her off to a Romance sim with a daughter in one game, she had her own baby soon after and she was a very good mother, despite being so lazy!

I use freewill on (they're so boring otherwise) and I've recently noticed the rubbing the belly idle more often, too. Of course, I use the various macros and things enough that their needs are usually always green anyway, so they have more chance to now than they did before, I suppose...

Good one!  I never did outgrow Barbies, and I have grandchildren playing with them now!

I leave freewill on, and occassionally I see a pg mom rub her belly.  Also see dad-to-be talk to belly, and after the baby's born they'll talk to the baby (play peek-a-boo) while mom's holding it.  And just recently I've had parents and siblings (even child siblings) sit down and play with a toddler while the toddler is playing with a toy.

And I seem to have more sims writing in their diaries lately.  I think I have only seen that once or twice pre-NL, but now I have one sim who will sit down and write if I leave him alone for more than a few sim minutes!
