Title: Clean Installer lied to me Post by: flowerchile on 2006 February 09, 00:21:41 So I'm doing the unenviable task of reinstalling my downloads and good ol' Clean Installer rears it's ugly head and says "Already installed". Well that was a lie. I went to the game and nothing, nada, zip, zilch. So back to the downloads and more grief . So I say Bye Bye to Mr Clean Installer and get back to the task at hand. All downloads are back. Whats goin' on here, I ask ya.
Title: Re: Clean Installer lied to me Post by: C.S. on 2006 February 09, 00:38:57 Well, I'm probably asking a stupid question but, did you re-start the game after putting in your downloads so the custom contents can take effect? Assuming you have NL of course :P.
Title: Re: Clean Installer lied to me Post by: flowerchile on 2006 February 09, 00:42:24 Yeh mate! :D
Title: Re: Clean Installer lied to me Post by: angelyne on 2006 February 09, 00:48:35 errr.....What were you trying to install with clean installer....a house?
Title: Re: Clean Installer lied to me Post by: flowerchile on 2006 February 09, 00:51:27 I wasn't trying to install anything with the Clean Installer, I was merely trying to do the download dance and the Clean Installer kept popping up, totally uninvited.
Title: Re: Clean Installer lied to me Post by: angelyne on 2006 February 09, 01:32:20 you probably just double clicked on a file (or a bunch of them) and it launched the clean installer.
Title: Re: Clean Installer lied to me Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 09, 01:52:02 Lucky it was that and not the Maxis one!
Title: Re: Clean Installer lied to me Post by: flowerchile on 2006 February 09, 09:51:06 you probably just double clicked on a file (or a bunch of them) and it launched the clean installer. Hey you're good..I did try to do a bunch at a time, if there is a next time I'll do it one by one. BUT...it still lied, it did say they were installed and they weren't!Title: Re: Clean Installer lied to me Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 09, 10:26:21 It may be that Clean Installer was pulling up it's stored list of files. If you reboot, I think it should then go back to the files in the folder you indicate and check them again. May also work if you direct it to check a different folder, then redirect it to the one you want to check.
Title: Re: Clean Installer lied to me Post by: radiophonic on 2006 February 09, 13:31:50 Clean installer has been less than reliable since NightLife. It seems they've given up on the updates to it as well which makes the project a bit of an Annie as far as I'm concerned.
Nice program, now somebody needs take the code over, fork it and fix it. Title: Re: Clean Installer lied to me Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 09, 13:42:48 Still works for me! (Crosses fingers!) ;D
Title: Re: Clean Installer lied to me Post by: flowerchile on 2006 February 09, 23:37:37 ZZ, I think Jinx is my middle name. Or sexy fingers, coz I f*ck everything that I touch. (when it comes to the Sims that is).
You know the clear; couldn't be clearer instructions about backing up files and games and neighborhoods, well I F*CKED that. Unbelievable!!! Title: Re: Clean Installer lied to me Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 10, 00:38:12 Why not just let simPE or simEnhancer do it for you?
Title: Re: Clean Installer lied to me Post by: flowerchile on 2006 February 10, 13:23:22 Why not just let simPE or simEnhancer do it for you? I....don't....have....them.... :-[Thats why I'm here ZZ, to learn; but I think I think to much, it's all such a struggle. Title: Re: Clean Installer lied to me Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 10, 13:29:27 Well, when you open SimPE, open the Neighbourhood Browser, click on the Neighbourhood you want to save, and you will get the option to make a Back-up.
SimEnhancer is even simpler, as soon as you go to open the hood you get asked if you want to make a back-up. SimPE backups are stored in the EAGames folder along with your game folders, SimEnhancer just uses the Mydocuments folder. Your post has just made it to my favorites list. Thanks once again. Guess what I did today?SimEnhancer is even simpler, as soon as you go to open the hood you get asked if you want to make a back-up. SimPE backups are stored in the EAGames folder along with your game folders, SimEnhancer just uses the Mydocuments folder. I hit the big 5,000,000,001. I kid you not. So Sim PE will be downloaded and in use, and I will not do it myself. HAHA. My neighbor is a wiz at this stuff. Gotta love ím. Gotta ask ím! Title: Re: Clean Installer lied to me Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 10, 13:42:51 Lucky you! That's the kind of neighbour to have! Cultivate him like mad!
