More Awesome Than You!

A new pre-release version of Sims2DB is available for testing now! Because I've made some fairly significant changes, before releasing it to the general public (and risk being pointed and laughed at as bugs are flushed out),  I'd like it to be tested by at least a handful of people.

A highlight of what's new includes:

- The ability to import and update Sim info from data extracted from SimPE (no more tedious manual data entry!)
- Support for duplicate names (You can keep track of as many Bella Goths and Ivy Copurs as you want!)
- Filters so that you can work with only one neighborhood at a time or filter out dead Sims
- A few more reports and more fields
- And more...

Edited to add: This is a weird example because it shows genetically, Lilith is not the offspring of Mary-Sue. Lilith should have black hair. But those Maxis-made characters don't follow the rules ;)

I've signed up. But no messages yet so I can't access. I'm actually wondering if I typed the correct email add!  ;) Anyways, hopefully I can be a tester. This is a very useful program.

The email message was auto-generated so I'm sure it got sent, but who knows, it might have gotten directed to your spam filter!  :P

Hi Pegasys, your site registration email got sent to my bulk folder, so I guess other people might have lost their emails to spam filters. I'm just waiting for access to your 'special' topic now. :)

Possibly, but I never set one up.  For about a week now I seem to be getting about half or less of all email.  But according to the ever so not helpful person on the other end of the phone there is nothing wrong with my email.  >:(

Well I joined and got a welcome letter to the forum and I activated the account through that, but I can't access the download, it says "Sorry, but only users granted special access can read topics in this forum."  Am I supposed to get some other email message after the one to activate the account? 

I think you are supposed to get another email. I didn't get one, though. I didn't get access to the special download page right away after registering, though. I think I went back a bit later or the next day and I could access the page.

You're supposed to click on the Usergroups at the top of the page, select Pre-Release Testers, select View information, and then click "Join".  It's an initiation ritual ;)

Seriously, though, I'm sorry if it's confusing or you didn't get signed up quickly. In any case I hope to have the official release available within a week. And for those who are testing, I just posted a newer release today - it has a shiny new feature called "Show Potential Mates". :) 

I did all that when I joined yesterday, now it says I will be notified when I've been approved.  I'm definitely not a member, I'm not on the list, and I haven't had any further emails since the validation one.  Hope it doesn't take too long, I really need this for my new version of Pleasantview before it gets too big!

It's a bit confusing really, because I'm able to login and it recognises me, so I'm assuming the tester part of it is a separate thing.  Will try to be patient ...

Not too late :) Although I'm releasing it tomorrow or Monday. The testers are doing an excellent job! Finding stuff that would have taken me weeks to discover.
