Title: Game needs a certain amount of (NON-NPC) townies?
Post by: ThyGuy on 2006 January 30, 21:31:22
I was going through pleasant view deleting (non npc) townies, until there was a single adult left. When I loaded the neighborhood it took around five minutes for the game to load, and I went back to simpe to make sure nothing serious had happen. Nothing serious had happened, but I was startled to see that the game had re-created five children, five tens, and around ten adult townies. I figured the game wouldn't be able to do this with the notownieregen, but apparently the game needed this amount to load the neighborhood.

Anyone know why it would need useless townies?

Are you sure you have custom content enabled and the correct version of notownieregen? I deleteallcharacters and when I go back into the game, I have no characters except the ones I've added.

Yes, make sure you have custom content enabled and a recent version of notownieregen. The game doesn't need townies at all and with custom content enabled and the most recent version of notownieregen I have not had it try to generate any townies on me, over about 5 neighborhoods first cleared out with deleteallcharacters.

Went back and checked, it's the current version. I'm going to try the cheat you talked about. Do I have to put all the families in the bin to stop them from being deleted?

Sorry. When you deleteallcharacters, you delete ALL characters. You could clone them and import the clones back in, but memories will be gone. If you make sure the mod is installed correctly and custom content is enabled, no FURTHER townies will be generated after the current crop meets with a swarm of flies or a pool missing a ladder or a cowplant.  ;)
