Title: Nightlife Getting Ported To The Mac In March
Post by: Simsbaby on 2006 January 23, 16:17:24
Aspyr (http://insidemacgames.com/news/story.php?ID=12751) is going to port The Sims 2 Nightlife. I can't wait! What should I do to get ready?

Huh. That IS exciting! I'm a Mac person myself but cynically decided that Sims 2 was never coming to Mac a while ago and have bought it for my wife's PC. And Aspyr, you say? A great company that deserves my support?? Blast! I'm going to have to scrape up money to buy the Mac versions somehow, so long as hacks and neighborhoods can transfer (and they should, as far as I know).

As for advice, I would figure out your hack choices and have them ready to go. Also, have your neighborhoods backed up. I managed to screw both points up with NL, and it really annoyed me: I was fixing my own stupidity when I should have been playing.

Thanks I had my hoods and downloads on my iPod, just haven't downloaded the nightlife hacks.
P.S. The mac game is faster! :)

Now you're intriguing me. If you don't mind taking the time, what are your specs, and what default game settings do you get from them? The PC - which FAR exceeds the stated minimum requirements - runs the game smoothly but does so on the lowest graphics setting (no fingers), no cinematics (never seen one), and pathetic movie capture options (good animation OR sound...take your pick!).

My 2 GHz G5 iMac could probably run circles around that! Oh, to see fingers...

My specs.
iBook G4
1 GHz Power PC
1 GB Ram
60 GB HD
32 ATI Mobility Radeon 9200

I get around 24 FPS on the goth house with shadows off, lighting medium, object detail low, textures medium, and resolution 800 x 600 in fullscreen.
No setting is grayed out.
Did I forget anything?  You can check your frame rate with S, Shift, and Control.

Thanks, Simsbaby. I'll start saving now.

There are plenty of options greyed out on my wife's rather nice Compaq PC. Sounds like this won't be an issue at all on the G5. Besides, it'll get me off her machine...
