Title: Wry Neck Post by: themaltesebippy on 2005 August 05, 10:00:35 Some of my sims have a weird head tilt that only lasts though one age stage, usually child or teen but now one of my elders has it too. Anyone know why this happens?
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 August 05, 10:43:51 Did you use Move_objects on to move them? I've had this problem, not with the neck, but an arm that keeps ending up stuck out at an angle, and it's usually caused when I do that.
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: dizzy on 2005 August 05, 10:59:31 My sims seem to get stuck arms from playing too much chess.
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: fff on 2005 August 05, 13:36:01 Usually when my toddlers grow up, the little portrait of them (as children) on the control panel always shows them with their heads lolling on one side - they never actually appear like this in the game, only in their portrait. I always just put it down as being One Of Those Things.
Sorry, I wasn't much help, was I? ;) Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: LK on 2005 August 05, 14:37:40 This is probably due to Gorditas. Remember the Taco Bell commercials?
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: themaltesebippy on 2005 August 05, 21:01:07 No I don't use moveobjects on them. Sometimes it happens when they "look" at me and then they tilt their head and sometimes it is just when they walk around. Probably the damn Gordias. Chimichanga nite will be no more!
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: LK on 2005 August 06, 03:23:28 Come to think of it, the problem is probably boolProp, because that is the scapegoat for everything.
DAMN YOU, BOOLPROP! Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: gali on 2005 August 06, 11:46:09 DAMN YOU, BOOLPROP! Dido! I am scared to death from it, and prefer any hack instead of messing my game...:). Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: LK on 2005 August 06, 13:27:35 Ah, yes, but even third party hacks are immoral, according to one BBS user. Play the game the way it was meant to be played! Only then will you become so frustrated that you insert a marshmellow stick into your ear canal.
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 August 06, 13:32:15 If the game had been written like it was meant to be written, we wouldn't need hacks!
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: LK on 2005 August 06, 13:34:41 That was the point I tried to make to the person, but not in those words. It was more along the lines of, "Are you stupid or were you just born with the common sense of a rhubarb plant?"
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 August 06, 13:39:01 Well, since I was agreeing with you, I didn't actually see the need to be rude! But when you disagree, it's certainly OK to compare them to rhubarb!
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: LK on 2005 August 06, 13:43:04 Huh? I was agreeing with you agreeing with me. Or, rather, I agreed with what you said when you agreed with me the first time, but I just pointed out that I wasn't as tactful as you with my response to the BBSer.
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: Oddysey on 2005 August 06, 15:00:16 Some of my sims have a weird head tilt that only lasts though one age stage, usually child or teen but now one of my elders has it too. Anyone know why this happens? Do you have University? Sounds like the portrait you're getting is a zombie portrait, but that would be rather weird. Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: Marvin Kosh on 2005 August 06, 15:12:14 If the game had been written like it was meant to be written, we wouldn't need hacks! Amen to that. We need someone like Samuel Drake (http://www.oinc.net/B5/Enc/display.php?drake-samuel) who just won't sign off on a project until it's perfect ;-) Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: LK on 2005 August 06, 15:23:57 I always get frustrated with people on the BBS who swear that any kind of hack will result in total annhilation of the game, plus games in houses of people you don't know. If it weren't for them (the hacks), the game would eventually completely lock up and you'd be forced to whine for help on the BBS.
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: Marvin Kosh on 2005 August 06, 15:37:40 See, I don't understand, because if there were hacks of that nature, wouldn't they be filed under Game-Annihilating? Or maybe Fiery Ball Visible From Space - do not use?
Seriously though, maybe it's worth looking into demonstrating hacks which, using regular game mechanics, will cause your neighbourhood to grind to a halt. So people can actually see the effects instead of having to wait months and months to approach the limits of what the game can handle. Then again, there are some seriously stupid people out there who might actually use such hacks on their favourite neighbourhood. The same sort of people who fiddle around with the front of their computer going 'Ooooh, what's this button do?' Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: LK on 2005 August 06, 15:40:03 Actually, I suspect that 98% of the people who claim that hacks will turn your game into a festering slime pit have never actually downloaded a single hack in their entire lives, which is why so many people cannot figure out in which folder they're supposed to go.
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: dizzy on 2005 August 06, 19:14:33 I bet my NPC & Townie Maker hack (if improperly used) could turn your neighborhood into mush within 10 to 20 minutes, tops.
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: LK on 2005 August 06, 19:57:04 If I could wrangle a sheep, I'd test that theory.
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: Brynne on 2005 September 12, 14:18:26 I'm reviving this thread to ask if you've figured out why the head tilt thing happens, yet. I have a teen male who does it, and I had a female who was doing it as a child (which I thought was kind of cute at the time, but not so much on a teen male...), but grew out of it when she became a teen. It's not a big deal, just a little distracting.
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 September 12, 15:44:59 Damage posted pics at SimFreaks of one of her sims whose head was on - backwards!
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: Brynne on 2005 September 12, 15:47:08 ewwww...that's frightening!
Title: Re: Wry Neck Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 September 12, 15:53:07 Evidently he was fine once she unpaused!
