Title: mike inside Post by: Indiasong on 2006 January 18, 23:32:40 His site is down, could anyone tell me again where to find his cheats tutorial, or tell me where to put paste the cheats, they are so convenient.
Title: Re: mike inside Post by: Brynne on 2006 January 18, 23:35:27 My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Config. It's the userStartup.cheat, I believe.
Title: Re: mike inside Post by: Gwill on 2006 January 18, 23:36:03 I have no problem accessing the site.
Title: Re: mike inside Post by: Renatus on 2006 January 19, 00:34:13 I believe the Mike Inside site also has a forum. You'd be much better off posting questions about the tutorials there at their forum. We're helpful, but we aren't Tech Support For All Of Sims 2.
Title: Re: mike inside Post by: uaintjak on 2006 January 19, 00:50:08 Of course, if the site is down, then you probably couldn't access their forums...

The original poster couldn't get to the site and that's why they posted here. Kinda hard to post in a forum when you can't reach it. :-\ Title: Re: mike inside Post by: flowerchile on 2006 January 19, 00:53:19 :o I went to check out Mikes forum last night. He stated that there were X amount of members, but none were on-line. Granted, I didn't register, was only there as a guest but whats the point if nobody's home?? I think I'll stick to MATY.
Title: Re: mike inside Post by: radiophonic on 2006 January 19, 01:01:36 Here is my set based on his if you're interested:
alias m "moveObjects on" "Enables the ability to move normally unmovable objects" "" To use them, cut and paste the list into My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Config\UserStartup.cheat, start the game and load a lot. You can then type the word that resides directly after the word "alias". You can access the list by typing "help" in the command box (ctrl+shift+C). Cheers! Title: Re: mike inside Post by: MokeyHokey on 2006 January 19, 03:45:20 Quote To use them, cut and paste the list into My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Config\UserStartup.cheat, start the game and load a lot. I think you have to manually create the file. Just pasting the list into Wordpad will do, just make sure that it ends in .cheat and not .doc or whatever, else it won't work. Title: Re: mike inside Post by: Baa on 2006 January 19, 04:05:02 C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Nightlife\TSData\Res\Config\globalStartup.cheat
If you only have Uni, access the The Sims 2 University and not the NL folder, same for the original game. Access the folder for the latest game installed. Open it in Notepad and paste what you need. I've attached mine and it includes all useful cheats. Guide: m = moveobjects on m- = move objects off s = snapobjectstogrid true s- = snapobjectstogrid false t = testingcheatsenabled true t- = testingcheatsenabled false 45 = allow 45 degree angle rotation 45- = doesn't. party = makes max number of sims allowed on lot to 50 skyscraper = makes highest level 15 dt = dormtools on dt- = dormtools off [404'ed!] Title: Re: mike inside Post by: Liss on 2006 January 19, 04:47:07 oooo! *copies radiophonic's aliases*!!
Title: Re: mike inside Post by: Sleepycat on 2006 January 19, 05:00:02 well I don't have much in my userstartup.cheat file and the two I do have in it, I don't turn off
floatProp tvVolume 0.1 faceBlendLimits off until I found out about the tv volume one I rarely let my sims even own a tv because they were just way too loud! Title: Re: mike inside Post by: Renatus on 2006 January 19, 10:56:06 Of course, if the site is down, then you probably couldn't access their forums... *slaps forehead* Right, of course. Posting when I'm tired is a stupid idea, obviously. Title: Re: mike inside Post by: jrd on 2006 January 19, 11:04:38 My set:
http://members.chello.nl/b.kroonspecker/games/userstartup.cheat Title: Re: mike inside Post by: Sleepycat on 2006 January 19, 12:06:56 I just added a bunch to mine ::)
I asked myself why I keep typing them all out when I don't have to, granted some I don't use much but some I hardly use (like the dorm tools one) because I can't remember the exact spelling and/or don't feel like typing it *laughs* I'm curious as to why Kingdom uses a "globalStartup.cheat" rather then the usual "userstartup.cheat", whats the difference? (other then where you stick the file) Title: Re: mike inside Post by: MokeyHokey on 2006 January 19, 13:19:15 I was under the impression that you shouldn't mess with the global one in Program Files, but just create the User one in My Docs. *shrug* I've no idea if it really matters or not.
Title: Re: mike inside Post by: Renatus on 2006 January 19, 14:00:02 I think the global one applies to all user accounts. When the censorgrid cheat worked I had to put it in the globalstartup.cheat file to get it to work, for some reason.
Title: Re: mike inside Post by: radiophonic on 2006 January 19, 14:03:15 Placing those strings in the global file will cause the "cheats" to be used by all user accounts on the machine.
Placing them in the file that resides in "My Documents" makes them available to the owner of the "My Documents" folder only. Did that make sense? I'm still working on my first cup of coffee. Edit: I see someone beat me to it. :D Title: Re: mike inside Post by: flowerchile on 2006 January 19, 14:15:06 To access a list of cheats, while in your game try typing in your cheat window help -all
It's pretty helpful as you don't have to exit the game. Title: Re: mike inside Post by: MokeyHokey on 2006 January 19, 14:26:38 Gotcha. Ergo, it wouldn't matter for me since my husband wouldn't touch the Sims if you paid him... ::)
Title: Re: mike inside Post by: Indiasong on 2006 January 19, 17:59:49 Thank you, everyone! I could never remember the whole command.
