Title: Playing Mesh Tag
Post by: radiophonic on 2006 January 14, 00:01:38
I have a custom hairstyle package in my downloads folder. I'm trying to find the custom mesh that goes with it. Can someone tell me where to locate the string that tells you which mesh is being used using SimPE?

It seems logical (at least to me) that the file name of the mesh is hard coded into the package file. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance for any info.

I don't think the filename actually matters.  I think it's the GUID.

Try looking in the 3d id referencing file for "shape" data?
That will give you the internal numbers referenced in the game for the mesh.

As far as I know there's no other place where the shape numbers are referenced in a texture package.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot.

I do hate it when creators don't get the package files and give them proper filenames that you can recognise immediately as belonging together!  Saves all that messing about with the installer as well!  I mean, how long does it take someone who's made something to install it to an empty downloads folder, and replace that ridiculous string of letters with a name, then do the same for the mesh, and upload those packages in a zip!  And chuck the darn sims2pack where it belongs - in the recycle bin!
