Title: Snatching myself bald?
Post by: Assmitten on 2006 January 11, 21:58:43
All this hair custom content talk has made me want to zip out a bunch of so-so custom hairstyles in my game. If I delete the downloads, will my Sims having bad hairdays end up bald or will it get replaced with Maxis hair? Anyone know?

TY!

Even sims with Maxis hair can end up having a bad hair day and walk past another lot totally bald!  I think though, the answer to your question depends on whether the hair you get rid of is a recolour of a Maxis hair, or a new mesh and if it's the latter, I would think you'd have to send your sim to the mirror!  Best really to decide which hair you don't want in your game, enter the lots of any sims you know have that hair, and give them a new hairdo first!

Thank you ZZ, quick and helpful as usual.

Well, I may be wrong about meshes, there may be some that just revert to a Maxis one, but I always replace their hair first.  for example, I had a sim with the beautiful beaded dreadlocks by Compulsive D, but they seemed, because of their high poly count, to affect my game, so I decided to take them out.  so before I removed them, I had the sim change his style to the long dreads.  So now, with any new hair mesh, I try it out on one lot first, maybe two or three sims with different variations (age, colour etc.) to see if it affects gameplay - as it will be worse at a community lot when maybe half a dozen sims could be there wearing that hair - then if it's a problem, I haven't got to trawl the hood to find the others!
