Title: Woohoo'd to death
Post by: Pegasys on 2005 December 28, 00:39:22
I was recently playing Darren Dreamer (mostly to age him, 'cause he shouldn't be younger than Lilith and Angela, who are a few days away from Elder). Anyway, I got him a new live-in girlfriend, and for two days ALL he wanted to do was: play/flirt/kiss/make-out/woohoo with her. So just for fun I decided that I would oblige every want, regardless of her needs, and see if anything different spun up. His girlfriend is 1 point lazy, can barely get her *ss off the couch to fix something to eat. Anyway, she willingly obliged to his every whim, never rejected him, and they had a non-stop love fest for two days straight.  At the end of the second day, she got out of bed after woohoo, and crumpled to the ground. Darren was able to save her from the Grim Reaper but it was *only* after this event did he start spinning some different typical Knowledge wants such as see a ghost, gain a skill point, etc.

So I ask, was he spinning all these wants over and over because they weren't married or engaged, or it got stuck in a loop, or ??? It kind of made for an interesting story  :P Darren, the obsessed artist.

Well, if I could pick how I'm going to leave this world, I have to say, woohooing to death wouldn't be such a bad way to go.  :P ;D

yeah that would be the way to go if I could choose LOL

I had a Romance Sim, the daughter of Don Lothario, who was in a sorority, and she woohooed wtih her professor in the hot tub to get grade points.  I wanted to see how quickly she could fill up her grade meter doing that.  Unfortunately, she was starving by the time they did it several times, and she went to cook some food.  I got the notice that the professor was leaving, and he had hunger desperation thought bubbles.  So I didn't think anything more about it, until a little later she stops eating and goes to the back yard.  I couldn't understand why she would stop eating when there was food on her plate and she was still hungry.  Then I noticed that everyone had quit what they were doing and were going to the back yard, where I saw a figure crumpled on the ground.  I realized it was the professor, who had never made it off the lot, and so he expired.  So this was a lesson to all my college students.  Never woohoo when you are starving.  She would go to his grave and cry all the time.  I thought it might be good to let the sorority house have a grave for the knowledge sims to see, but the house got bugged and I lost it.  The game generated another professor when she went to class again.

Now, if you'd had a flamingo of contentment on the lot, it wouldn't have happened!

Now that wouldn't have been as amusing, though, would it? ;)

Yeah, but I bet he had a smile on his face!  ;D  :D

Maybe it's just Darren? In my game, he married Cassandra, and immediately after "trying for baby" HE got out of bed and died. Perhaps the man is cursed. And does anyone know what happened to his first wife?

Title: Re: Woohoo'd to death

Not sure, but her ghost is red, so I assume she died in a fire.

Title: Re: Woohoo'd to death

Actually, she has two ghosts, but only one gets resurrected with the Resurrectomitron.  I had Darren do this, and they had a baby and were very happy, and since he had drunk loads of elixir he didn't transition while I was playing that hood (before it got corrupted).

I noticed the change in behaviour of Knowledge sims after Uni was installed.  They have a constant woohoo want that rerolls every time its fulfilled.  I guess they want to learn everything there is to know.... ;)  The only difference between them and Romance sims is that they are happy to woohoo with just the one partner.  The constant want has made it really easy to keep Knowledge sims in platinum mode.

Title: Re: Woohoo'd to death
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 December 28, 06:30:43
But since romance sims constantly roll woohoo in bed, hot tub, love tub and public woohoo wants, you can fulfil these and ignore the promiscuity!  After all, a lot of humans also have these wants and suppress them because deep-down they really love their partner!  Just give them a career  LTW and they're just as easy to keep in platinum as Knowledge sims (who I've noticed are not rolling the want so often since NL.)

I find, if when the flirt rolls up, you only pick a low one (charm, wolf whistle, etc, etc), then, it may roll to something like talk. If you pick 'goose' then it tends be bumped to 'kiss' and 'make out'. (Which, always for me, at least, roll at the same time). Just my experience, is all.

I'd always thought Darleen got killed by a satalite.  In the story pictures that comes with the neighborhood you see her lying on the ground and watching clouds while Darren is doing something in the background.  And if you look around at the ground where her tombstone is when you first start in that family you can see a slight indention in the ground...

Though, her ghost is red.  But I don't think Darren or Dirk have any memories of a fire right before their memory of Darleen diying.  Hmmmm...

Actually, it's not an indentation, it's slightly raised as if it was a fresh tomb because it's about the length of a body, and the gravestone is at the head.  They applied a dirt terrain to look like the grass had not grown over it yet.  That's how all of the graves are at that cemetery downtown, also.

As for the memories, I'm pretty sure Maxis added those in manually, much like we can using SimPE.  They probably forgot to add a memory of a fire, because it actually never happened.  Just like they put in memories of a burglar and a repoman in Dina's memories, and Don has a memory of getting shocked.  He also has memories of being rejected for making out with Bella and a memory of public woohoo with Kaylynn, but Kaylynn has no memories of anything.

Technically, only people who see the fire get a fire memory. If the fire occurs in another room, nobody sees the fire except the person who dies.

Title: Re: Woohoo'd to death
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 December 28, 08:54:38
I think the only memory of the incident Darleen has is "I am dead", and that goes once she is resurrected.  But when Angela died trying to make crepes suzettes, I'm pretty sure she had the memory of the fire before the "I am dead" one, and all her family plus Don who was visiting remember the fire, as they all came rushing in!

Title: Re: Woohoo'd to death
Post by: Lythdan on 2005 December 28, 09:39:14
Maxis probably couldn't be bothered giving Darleen memories. She probably just tried to cook a toaster pastry one morning and stuffed her face instead.

Title: Re: Woohoo'd to death
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 December 28, 09:48:40
Well, she had some memories, and since there are two Darleens the memories are confused, as are the characters themselves - one is a family sim the other is fortune, and that's just for starters!

Title: Re: Woohoo'd to death
Post by: Lythdan on 2005 December 28, 09:52:45
I think one was made for pictures, and the other is refrenced for memories. One has character data, the other doesn't.

Title: Re: Woohoo'd to death
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 December 28, 13:27:21
True, but totally wierd how several ghosts have duplicates.  If as you say the duplicate was made for pictures, why leave it in at all?  And why is one in daywear, one in a nighty?

Title: Re: Woohoo'd to death
Post by: Lythdan on 2005 December 28, 14:02:05
Maxis is lazy? I dunno. What I noticed is that one Micheal Bachelor is Popularity, and the one with character data is Knowledge.

Are the red ghosts only for fire, or other things as well? I once had an angry red ghost that died of hunger.

Interesting as well that, although Michael Bachelor and Mortimer Goth are supposedly from the original sims1, their characters and appearance are so different - I mean, Michael was a very lazy Libra with oriental features in Sims1!  How lazy can you get, they couldn't even bother to load the original game and check out what they were supposedly recreating!  (And since he was so lazy, I would NEVER have partnered Michael with Dinah!  no wonder Nina had to live with them, someone had to do the housework!  I'm sure that's how he met his end - Nina got fed up with cleaning puddles and bumped him off!

That could be but Don Lothario is a natural slob and look at who maxis atttempts to pair him up wit? Miss lazy herself Cassandra Goth

I personally think they don't really intend Don to go through with it!  After all, since he's not Fortune, and her only attraction is her family's money, why would he want to?  And, although he's a slob, he's not lazy!

Title: Re: Woohoo'd to death
Post by: Bangelnuts on 2005 December 28, 18:08:56
Don is a slob and I agree he isnt lazy! but if you get rid of the glasses and the hairstyle Caassandra is actually quite Pretty.so the attraction for him may be her looks, and as they are a huge mismatch I agree they probably arent meant to be together!

That's probably because Cass is a family sim and Don is a Romance sim...you could tinker a bit with the turn ons and try and get a bolt...

Title: Re: Woohoo'd to death
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 December 28, 23:51:00
I've had some Romance and Family sims get more than one bolt, but admittedly not many!  Family always seem to be best suited to a Knowledge Sim!  (My Mary-Sue only had one LB for Daniel until I made him Knowledge and her Family!  And she stopped swooning every time he walked past!

Yes, it's not just their aspirations that turn each other off, Virgo and Leo are not a good combination, especially the sloppy Leos!  But I've matched Cassandra with far more suitable husbands than Don, and she always ends up cheating!  Must be in the genes from Bella!

Title: Re: Woohoo'd to death

My Cassandra never cheats. :P

Title: Re: Woohoo'd to death
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 December 29, 04:57:53
Doesn't she have a job?  If she has a job, she starts cheating at work, then brings the current romance sim whose marriage she wants to break up home with her, and proceeds to break up her own!  (She even makes a dead set at Romance sims who are 100% (thanks to simPE) gay!  But when I had her married to Beau, she brought Daniel Pleasant (her best friend's husband and one of Beau's best friends) home from work with her and leapt into his arms.  I was stunned and Beau was furious!

Title: Re: Woohoo'd to death

Bella actually although she is a Romance Sim doesnt really "cheat" if she is with a Sim she really loves and has super chemistry with. I had her married to Joe in one version of my Game and she never once cheated on him  :P cant say the same about Joe though he would cheat at the drop of a "hat". I currently have Bella Pregnant By Joe  Just to see if I can get a Miniature Justin,Samantha or Colleen born in Game from the two of them. I have Don Lothario's orphanange on Stand by for any kids the two of them have and dont want ;D

Give him a nicer beard (I like Hairfish's medium brown beard) and a surfer-boy hairstyle (Hairfish's one which doesn't cover up his eyes!) and he's really quite nice-looking too!

Now Ricky Cormier, on the other hand, new hair and trendy clothes and a nose job, looks positively evil!  And he stalks college students!  (He missed college, grew up before I had Uni!)  But maybe it's because he's been left looking after Orlando Centowski and Randy London and hasn't met anyone who wants to woohoo with him!  He had a teenage affair with Meadow, but when she invited him over to the house she shares in College, not even one Lightning bolt!  But Glen Grass, who was her boyfriend after Ricky grew up, and is a Knowledge sim, was a different story!

Yeah, I remember reading this story before, wasn't it on your site, Brynne?? ;)

And my Cassandra had a job and brought people home from work just like all sims do.  That doesn't mean she is cheating with them.  Sims only cheat if you tell them to.  I don't know why Cassandra and Brandi get such a bad rap.  They are both very sweet and caring Family sims, and I have never had a problem with either of them.  I married them both to CAS sims that I made for them, and they were faithful their entire lives, had 10 kids each and reached the top of their careers.

and as I recall i was the first one to marry Sim you off to Justin........ so sometimes good Ideas have a way of taking on a* life * of their own  Like My Idea to use version two of you as your twin sister and marry version 2 off to Josh  could well take on its own *life* your Don Lothario I dea was creative so I borrowed the base *idea* and then put my own touches on it as in he isnt running a orphanage in my hood soley for Joe and Bella"s benefit he iss there to accept all unwanted offspring from all families and *Teen* mistakes so as time goes on Don could end up raising literally dozens of kidsfrom various families. and who Knows I might someday create a wife for him but not right now

uhh her parentts arent raving beauties just average. and her exceptionallly pretty face now isnt going to make her ugly later,I have lots of gprgeous soms in my game and none of them have ever Produced an ugly child!Lisette is a orgeous toddler born to average Parents who produce beautiful girls her tteen sister is no slouch when it comes to looks.
So I have to disagree that her pretty face is going to turn funky as an adult

Most of my good looking toddlers have grown into good looking adults, but the exceptions to the rule have been atrocious.  :P They don't get much in the way of storylines...

Bangel, you'll appreciate this since you have Shellie: Shellie and her husband Tanner had a little girl, but she was "erased" from the game(not because she was ugly, noooo). She was hideous, and got even worse as she got older. Both parents are great looking, but their genetics didn't mix well in this particular case...

You can usually tell if a kid will get better growing up by looking at their parents back when they were young, especially if they take alot after one parent.

Can't do that if the parents were CAS sims, though.

The only addition so far to my Tricou family has been Kiernan's alien twins!  I changed his aspiration to Knowledge as I thought that if you get resurrected, you might as well make a fresh start!

uh huh I have to agree Shellie is gorgeous so I can appreciate the utter shock a hideous kid from to gorgeous parents can bring on Ive had that happen when I was doin the prosperity challenge Kris and Steve Aming's child Justine  comes rushing to my mind from the second neighborhood I had to create when the first got corrupted. I* still keep reincarnating Kris and Steve for their Fabulous genetics that pass on to their kids. Justine was their 5th child and second daughter after the Cas teenage Bart and toddler Max . they had twins a boy and a girl Dusty and Nicole.Justine was a single birth sandwiched in between two sets of twins.Justine was ugly from the moment of birth on and unfortunately being a challenge kid there was not a thing I could do about her looks other than change her clothes and hair.
Sadly transitionin toddler made her even uglier than she had been as a babyand so the story goes...Justine went from ugly to hideous to three bagger by the time she was an adult. something didnt mix right from Kris and Steve and the result makes me shudder even now. however  I have never had a Gorgeous toddler like Lisette ever turn from Gorgeous to Ugly or funky at later ages  as Rohina suggests will happen to Lisette. I suspect that Lisette ultimately will look some what Like Gvaudoin as she ages and Gvaudoin hardly qualifys as funky or ugly as a YA or as Teen the two ages I have seen her at.Gvaudoin is a mix of both her parents as is Lisette other than Hair color coming from Daddy in both girls cases the girls actually are a blend of both parents.I was Just surprised at how the genetics Blended for Lisette and made her such a gorgeous toddler

Hmm...I remember once I was suprised when this guy, (whose nose was pushed too far up his head) when he grew into an adult...it was the right size! I was so suprised, especially since his siblings never grew into their noses...

You might be interested to know that the daughter of my alien Zen Whyte and his wife Ianthe, Iona Blues (she was born before they married) was an ugly child.  Ianthe has a custom pale skin from AlleMeineSims and the elf face and huge ears, and isn't terribly attractive, especially with her mohican hair-style, but Zen is pretty good-looking.  Iona was an ugly child and an ugly teen, but she's now gone to college and suddenly she seemed to blossom.

I've seen both. I've seen sims who disappointed me once they aged, so that's why I kept Justin as a teen for so long. I was afraid he'd never live up to my expectations.  :P

true  but in real lif most toddlers nd real small children have stubby noses and it isnt till closer to mid child hood that the nose begins to make radical changes for the final adult shape that wont occur until a persons mid teens

Oh, I have. For some reason, this guy who was rather handsome as a teen had his nose mutate when he became an adult. It got a huge bump in the middle, and a lump at the end, and I have no idea why. He passed this onto his kids, of course. The alternitive was to have a pushed up nose, small eyes, high eyebrows and no upper lip...

Title: Re: Woohoo'd to death
Post by: Bangelnuts on 2005 December 29, 10:35:55
thats no doubt true. however the somewhat stubby niose is the last to start growing on humans in large part because the nose doesnt stop growing until age 16 or later. which is why even 5 and 6 year olds still have the "toddler nose" to one degree or another and it looks like Maxis has carried that  fact to extremes with sim kids.

Alexander Goth.  He wasn't too bad looking when he was a child or even a teenager.  But when he became an adult, wow, I couldn't believe him.  It took a bit of playing around with different hair and stuff before he finally grew on me.

MaxoidTom said that facial blending in children and younger makes them look a lot alike, because adult features on children don't usually look attractive.  You can turn off facial blending before a baby is born to allow their true features to show, but they probably won't look as good as children until they reach teen or adult.  I tried this on one of my sims in Strangetown, an alien child, and he had rough edges to his features that I assume would have been smoothed by the blending.  That's why most babies look alike, and toddlers usually look alike for the most part even with different hairstyles.  Most of my sim children look a lot alike even if they aren't related except for some extreme features.  Like Brynne said, it's hard to get a child that looks good.  I just learn to live with them until they pass that stage.  Fortunately, it's only 7 days (unless you play aging off ;))

Post by: Lythdan on 2005 December 29, 11:46:47
Yeah, most children look alike. Alexander Goth...*shudders* I'd forgotten about him. Unfortunately, most of my sims have at least one extreme facial trait...and sometimes they get two...or three...

My sim-son (saved right now since reloading with NL -- he has a SHOCKING resemblance to my son.  I mean, almost creepy!) married the prettiest sim I'd ever seen/made. She had alien skin and eyes.  Their son, Draco had my son's nose throughout his childhood and teen years.  I thought, OH NO the nose is going to be so strange when he grows up.  He went steady with Xylina Dreamer, Darrens alien daughter from abduction (she was pretty too -- got Darren's nose).  They went to college together.  When Draco transitiioned to young adult.... YOWZA he was handsome!

He and Xylina got engaged and were in their senior year when I used SimPE to make backups instead of copying my Sims 2 folder and I lost all that progress.  The sims are still saved though, so someday I may use them, but I'm not going to reconstruct all the family relationships and everything.... takes too long.... unless I just used him.... hmmm... and not all six of my kids!

Interesting. I really like Alexander Goth.  I don't think he's ugly at all, he is interesting and he is very sweet in my game. He had a want for a "first kiss" which didn't get satisified until Uni, and as soon as he had his first kiss, he wanted to get engaged. Awwww.

I just graduated Alexander from Uni and I am planning to get him married today! Someone somewhere said they thought Beau was ugly, and he is another of my favorite Sims. I think I am just in general attracted to the more "unusual" looking Sims, they have a lot of character.

Rainbow, I love what you've done with Alexander! He looks quite distinguished in your game. Isn't he the darling family man? I think the combination of his playfulness + Knowledge is what appeals to me.

Ahh, I have crushes on the great majority of my male Sims!

Title: Re: Woohoo'd to death

I made him Fortune, because the family was wealthy, and he was a Criminal Mastermind.  I might try him as Knowledge though this time around.  It was just annoying how he always wanted to buy things with an occasional want to do stuff with his wife or sister.

Here's my Don-related pickle I'm now trying to figure out. Until I aged these toddlers up to teens, I didn't notice the strong resemblance some of them have to either  Joe or Bella. I'm supposed to pretend that there is no blood relation between these two? They are actually full blooded siblings, but I broke all family ties between them.

Well, they look brown in your pic, Bangel!  (Have you ever noticed Ricky Cormier's eyes?  They're astounding!)

Do they have the hots for each other, Brynne?  If so, I think you'd better do something about it! ;D

They'd better not! That's sim Brynne's husband! lol
I have already paired up two of them with family members, though. One of the daughters is dating her own nephew, and one of the sons is dating his niece.  :P

Well, as long as they don't think they're related.  :P

The eyes on the Don in the menu bar definitely look brown!

I don't know, Brynne, Simsincestuous!

Well, I hope for your sake that any children they might have aren't born with two heads...then again, my sims all marry they're second cousins.

Me too, lythdan!

The two kids that are dating what should be their family members have both been surgically altered...and genetically as well. So hopefully no goth-loth-bayfield monster sims.

Bangel, I think it's just the picture. His eyes still look brown, but I trust you that they're green.  ;)

Well, at least I wasn't imagining it, as you noticed it too! ;)

No, not imagining it. Like in my avatar, my eyes are lightish blue, but they look dark to me. It's just the pic.

I suppose when you consider how far the pic has travelled, it's not surprising something isn't right!

I think its the sky back drop because his eyea are definitely green I looked at them so I need to remove that and let the normal Maxis sky show

Nah, I think it's just because it's from a distance and most eyes look dark at a distance...

So, why so secretive about it, then?  ;)
Just maybe this is one Idea I dont want lifted from me.you didnt want me to use a base idea you had to develop a new story line for Don. well Don's new life is part of a story that will be written :) creative Ideas tend to get "borrowed" and since I rarely have creative Ideas in the first place I have learned that when I do share them they get "lifted" . Don's New Life is being written and will be published on live Journal in a Journal created Just for Don once the story is ready to be viewed
What's this about, Bangel?  Are you accusing Brynne of stealing your storyline??  I haven't seen her do any of your stories.  Which one are you referring to?

Rainbow I am not going to go into this subJect its not worth it OK!  ::)I have moved on and would rather Just play my story line with Don which quite frankly until Im ready to publish it is going to remain under wraps suffice to say it has no resemblance to anything Brynne has ever written.if people want to read about his adventures when its published thats fine. if not thats fine too since the creativity with Don is a collaborative effort. I must say all your post here did was irritate me and I m sure that point will be loud and clear when you or anyone else reads this. so do Me and everyone else a Favor  and Drop it!!!!!

Bangel, chill out. Please. Rainbow was sticking up for me and I thank her for that. You did imply in an earlier post that I ripped you off by the sim me and Justin getting married thing, and I was pretty damn angry about that, as I can assure you that your story was not even on the radar when I did that in my game. And that's hardly a storyline, anyway. The Don thing was a blatant ripoff, and so I really resented having the tables turned on me like that. But I tried to let it go, and you posted that second comment, which I just noticed yesterday. Other people are reading the same thing into it, so you can't tell us all we're imagining it. So please. If you want it to stop, then you stop with your little implications, and stop with your little convenient game glitches that are so anti-Val it's not funny every time you get pissed at me. And I'm aware that you are pissed, yes. I've been told. And as for your concern about your reputation here on this forum, you can't blame me and rainbow for that.

I'm not sure why you are getting upset with me.  This is the first time I've said anything to you about it.  I'm sorry you were irritated by my post, but frankly, I found your post to be quite irritating as well, because it was quite clear that you were accusing someone of stealing your ideas.  So if you want this subject dropped, then you need to be the one to drop it since you have been the one that keeps making these little digs.  You can't say things like this and not expect people to react.  You can't make accusations and tell people to drop it when they respond.  It doesn't work that way.

Come on everyone, it's a new year, let's make a new start before this turns into an all out war!  Time for hugs and apologies all round, I think.  So, to begin, if I've offended anyone, anywhere on this forum, I apologise for it now.

I'm willing to forgive, but this petty crap has to stop, first. No, ZZ you haven't offended anyone as far as I'm concerned.

Oh, I think I have - just maybe you haven't noticed!  I think really this is all the Christmas syndrome!  Think how many marriages break up at Christmas, and friends falling out is pretty common too!

When you reach my age, you have a lot of experience to fall back on - so us elders are often right!  So, whose going to apologise and kiss and make up next, I wonder?
