I don't spend much time in buy/build but there seems to be next to nothing included in this EP. The other thing I noticed right away is that they again failed to add this EP's supernatural to the CAS picker thingy. What's the point of doing that if they're not going to use it.

I'm getting a fuckton of script errors in the new worls too, and I'm only using NRAAS mods now. The Scott family is totally broken as all the script errors are coming from them.

I find the resorts a nice idea, but rather pointless. You can only go to resorts that are in your hometown. It ends up being more of a staycation than a vacation. And, you cannot have a resort lot in any of the World Adventures worlds.  Also, scuba diving. Maybe I didn't play around with it long enough, but in 8 sim hours of doing it, I found one chest and got mauled by a shark.

All in all, I'm finding this expansion rather boring. Decent idea, but horrible execution.

I'm playing Isla Paradiso and I've also noticed script errors with the Scott family.  How come all the script errors from them?

They have a decent selection of clothing that I'm sure to get sick of and hide in the future anyways. And Life-guarding is boring. Who knew?  ::)

Well, I found out why the Scott family has a bunch of script errors.  I started a new game, clicked on their house, and their house disappeared and they were standing out in the middle of the ocean on the other side of the neighborhood.  Another house did the same thing.  I created a girl and moved her in the Happy House Boat (it's docked at Promising Port), and it disappeared and my girl was in the middle of the ocean on the other side of the neighborhood also.  I don't know why those two houses are doing that.  I saved a copy of both houses and moved the Scott family in another house.  I found out trying to move those two houses somewhere else made it so I couldn't click on anybody's house.  It was grayed out.  I guess those two houses are messed up.  Somebody with knowledge of such things will have to look into this.

I put two windsurfing boards on the deck of the You're on a Boat houseboat, and they seem to have been eaten by the Kraken, as I can't find them. Never even got to use them either. Still waiting for a Shark mauling, and I cheated to get the friend of the Kraken LTR, and I cannot summon it on any boat I wish, like it claims.

I'm also getting a lot of unroutable sims in Isla Paradisio, in edition to the script errors with the Scotts, who eventually just disappeared from the world completely.

As someone pointed out, fantastic idea, extremely shitty exectuion. It's EA though, so should we ever expect them to release a game that's not broken? So glad I've never paid for any of this.

Yeaaahhhhh... let's see:

The world, I don't see what's special about it apart from the fact that you need a boat to shop for groceries... Other than that it's full of dull sims with dull lives just like every other post-LN world. But at least the game doesn't run like crap on it.

The resort system is... well I actually haven't tried it but I can't really imagine what can be so great about it that's worth $50.

The boats are a rip-off. Apart from one or two fishing boats, a giant jetski and a shitty ass boat that passes along for a "speed boat" you don't get anything worth adding to your vehicle collection. No cigarette boats, no yachts, nothing. They work, sort-of, although I doubt they have much use anywhere other than on Isla Paradiso, not to mention the "boat parking space" or whatever is a pain in the ass to place anywhere, even on Isla Paradiso.

The house boats are... stupid. Who the fuck wants to live on a boat? Jesus Christ Maxis! Think! THINK!!

I haven't tried underwater exploration yet cause I can't find out how to learn the damn Scuba Diving skill.

As for the usual objects, clothing, etc... I think even UL added more stuff.

I haven't played yet (I'm waiting for AM to update before I patch or install IP) but I did read that you have to snorkel to build diving skill. I also read that one of the rabbit holes (Science building, I think) is supposed to offer diving classes.

I like the idea of houseboats, it's just a bit crap that they're all big square lumps with no effort to make them a bit more boat shaped.

I believe the technical term is "bestiality".

My game lags horribly when there are any type of pets on screen. As in, the FPS drops a lot as long as there is one pet showing on the screen. This is with only no-cd mod and no cc content...any ideas why this is the case?

Finally know what's causing the script errors with the Scott family and making their houseboat, plus others disappear.  Twallan's Error Trap.  There is already a discussion at his site about it.  I took his Error Trap mod out, and left my game running for 30 minutes, and nothing disappeared. 

This thread should be titled:"I am using outdated mods. I will come here and Piss and Moan about my stupidness."  NRAAS said he is working on the mods for IP. So far nothing has been cleared. Awesomemod - Not cleared.

I haven't updated to the latest patch & I have not installed IP yet. It sounds like it is buggy already without the need for outdated mods thrown in for fun.

Actually, NRAAS did update his mods.  Error Trap is the one that's causing errors with the houseboats.  He did say Master Controller needs another update for University.  I only sent one sim to University and didn't have problems, but, I don't plan on sending anybody back at the moment.

He updated them to be compatible with 1.55, not with IP.  He has explicitly stated that he needs to double-check that they work correctly with the actual expansion installed.  Check NRaas State of the Mod.

Is this new "IP" even distinct from 1.55? What is it, 1.56? Otherwise, the code should be exactly the same.

edit: according to the patch downloader my game is still 1.55 with IP installed.

Not quite true, as there's still some lag and routing issues even with the mods and CC removed, and with a new game generated.

But other than that, yes I'm a tard for assuming that the updates for 1.55 would still work once the EP was installed. Pretty much figured that out once everyone else complained of the same issues with the same mod.  Going back to lurk MOAR.

All of you need to give EA some credit, they are good guys. Well not really... actually they aren't even neutral... hell saying they are evil is a catastrophic understatement, but most of the bugs, glitches and screw-ups that you fucknuts give them credit for are actually caused by the fact that you don't know how to install the damn game properly.

My game actually runs better after University Life, and it doesn't seem to have slowed down after Island Paradise, a contributing factor to that could be the fact that I'm not a moron.

Not sure about pee increasing the likelihood of being eaten. There was an underwater cave with tentacles sticking out, that is the next thing on my list of horrors to explore.

I can confirm you need to snorkel to get to scuba, once you get to level 2 you can start exploring the underwater zones. They are rated by skill level.

I don't know if I am liking the boat taxi thing - it depends how well it will work with the next round of CAW. If scuba is restricted to this world it is going to be a very boring skill.

The tentacles sound very interesting - I might install IP earlier than planned.


Afaik you can transfer the diving spots to other worlds, just not build your own. Hopefully the next CAW version will make this possible, too.

For those wondering: there is a buff while you are underwater controlling how much air you have left, and afterwards you get a "depressurising" buff that stops you from going back down straight away.

As far as I can tell, the only things in Isla Paradiso that can't be duplicated in other worlds are the uncharted islands.

No matter which way you slice it, you overpay for everything EA puts out for TS3.

Framing IP as a full expansion pack creates massive expectation/anticipation, but as always, it's disappointing and doesn't add enough to the game to truly merit the word "expansion".

I'm finding IP to be virtually unplayable. Horrible lag (even in Buy/Build modes. FPS is stable, there just seems to be a delay between every click and action when I'm building) and I'm getting a constant barrage of unroutable sims in the new hood.

Then get a better PC.

I am getting a bit of lag in build buy, manly when I try and use the eyedropper. I have made my first dive lot in Sunlit Tides using the tutorial linked from the BBS, it works well.

I've been watching several Let's Players on youtube lately and pretty much all of them experience some kind of lag in IP, some more than others. Basically the game pauses while the animations keep on going and then continues again, this happens every couple of simminutes. Even with LP'ers who normally have rather smooth game-play. I've also heard people complaining about Overwatch throwing up a significant amount of routing errors in IP and there only. According to others they experience this "lag" only in IP and in no other worlds. Seeing as how the routing works from several LP'ers I can say that I'm not surprised. IP seems as though it's more of a routing nightmare than Bridgeport.

I don't understand why someone here is whining about EA (yet again)... they sell cheaply-made piss-f*cking crap for top bucks, it is a known fact since TS1, or even earlier. If you got S3 thinking that all would be better all of a sudden, you are a moron.

On a more related matter, I like EP10 better than that Supercrappual EP with not-undead pseudozombies and all that dumb wizard/fairy/hairy stuff no-one can use.

Like the mermaids are any better; they're useless. The new shiny effect they have wears off real quick when you realize that once you've seen them swim around for a few minutes that that's all they're worth.

Going to piss & moan about my townie/npc Sims riding around on jet skis on the road.  There was a rather attractive Sim my Sim wanted to date, but he was forever tragically stuck on a jet ski.

Mermaids are stupid & I hate their stockings.

Just got everything installed and those jet skis piss me off. I haven't come across anything else yet. Ilsa Paradiso was a little choppy, but only played for about a sim week.

Ever since installing Island Paradise, I have a lovely glitch where my sim resets every day at 5 am. That's with all CC/mods taken out. lol sims.

There are also routing errors but those seem pretty standard with every new world they make.

I guess, uh, the islands are pretty. Yep. That's my plus for this game.

My Sim just went and took a jetski to ride on the road, too. Sometimes they get on their jetski to go somewhere in the water, and it doesn't move at all. And they get stuck there forever. Or they stand up on it and do idle animations. Those things are borked as Hell.

There's a mod at MTS that removes the scales from mermaids in human form and makes them much less stupid.

What can mermaids do anyway besides summon tentacle rape on random boats and swim faster?

They can dive without running out of air or needing to depressurize afterwards.  That's about it.  Everything else is annoying and they are more needy than a regular sim.  A hydration bar replaces hygiene and they'll pass out and eventually croak if there are no other sims around to dump a bucket of water on them.  They also gain voracious appetites that can only be fully satisfied by eating foods containing kelp (anything else only fills the hunger bar about 1/4 or 1/3rd of the way).

The tard is strong with this one.

Oh, it's been strutting around like it's a badass from day one while people who actually somewhat matter ignored it, so it's hardly surprising that it's attempting to punch outside of its weight class now.

I played IP for a few hours, and then my PC got bored with it and it now crashes as soon as it loads. I am not impressed with the small amount of new content, and the numerous shortcuts taken. Haven't seen any glitches yet but I've been playing with AM from the start.

I sometimes get a reset when the sims try to explore a cave, suddenly they're all standing on the shore of a nearby island, still in their scuba gear.

I've had two burglars in the middle of the ocean, no police. I think only the burglars have boats. One burglar stole a chest of drawers and took off in his speedboat in the middle of a storm. Gotta give him points for effort.

I tried to order a pizza on my island home. The pizza boy showed up, but I couldn't take delivery. Eventually I had to reset him to get him off my porch.

There's a glitch/feature that teleports your sim to land if the cave you explore doesn't have any tentacles in them when you choose the interaction. Just check whether there are tentacles coming out of the cave before exploring it. You can fix it by going into edit town and reset the lot by going into build/buy mode and move some stuff around. Or simply use a mod to reset the lot. I usually cba though so I simply move on to another diving spot which has an explorable cave. Usually the tentacles appear the next day either way.

What's the status on recurring services, such as maids, for island homes?

I believe they use boats, well, skijets. The newspaper kid and burglars do, so...

My maid seems to be able to get to the houseboat, whether it's at a dock or in the ocean. My burglar had a speedboat but apparently the police do not.  ::)

Oh the angst! I became so frustrated with routing errors I even killed my sim self when she became stuck at a dresser on her house boat.

All that aside, boats in my sim's inventory continue to pissadear (disapear) and my Sims can no longer interact with other sims when directed. I did "Resetsim" then tried "reseteveryone" that did piddly-shit-squat nothing in solving the interaction issue. I've also pulled various mods, ran Delphy's Dashboard and replaced mods, everything is updated appropriately. The only conflict I've noted is with Rachelstoolbox's  July update Sims 3 Store Updates 021-040.package and her own Sims 3 store fixes 06-26-2013.package. Not sure what to do about that situation. 

I'm beginning to believe my sims are conspiring a revolution against my godlike abilities.  The whole situation is very irritating and I am becoming strangely paranoid, to say the least.

I have objects all over the house that become unusable. Dressers, beds, chairs and so on. All of the sudden they are blocked and if you try to move them in buy mode it shows red areas that were not before. I checked in the living room trying to place a kid toy and there were blocked spots all over the place that should not be.

I also have sims try to use things and cannot and go to the front of the lot to complain. A sim will not be able to use an object on the third floor and walk all the down to the front of the house to stomp and complain. I had pretty much zero of this before IP.

So irritating!

I was wondering if anyone has successfully been abducted from a houseboat, or is this something EAxis messed up?  When I trigger the abduction, the mystical lights seem to appear in the middle of the ocean and my sim can't get there.

Took me a week of endless frustration trying to make the game load with my updated mods before realizing this stupid thing had corrupted something in my DC Cache folder. I had to totally delete everything in it and reinstall all my store packs but I can FINALLY play again and all my mods are working. Never had that happen before, but I guess its still better than a total reinstall from scratch.

Has anyone else had trouble with build/buy mode on the houseboats? I'm not sure if we are supposed to be able to use it or not. The buttons for build/buy are grayed out when I am zoomed in, but they become available when I zoom out to the neighborhood view, so I can still make changes if I just zoom out first. It's odd.

If you are using AM, 'setconfig alwaysbuildbuyhere false' until you are done building your houseboat.
