They couldn't keep it simple like Sims 2. Probably trying to sell more soundtracks. Although if there is a way to extract them, I would be interested.

The link above doesn't seem familiar to me. I'm using a program called "The Sims 3 Sound Converter" but I honestly can't remember where I downloaded it. I do know I have never had to use a hex editor with it though.
