Title: Household naming weirdness Post by: Insanity Prelude on 2012 February 05, 08:01:46 I just started an Appaloosa Plains save, and the game's generated a couple households to move into empty slots as per usual. Both immigrant households have a file path for a name, so it'll say things like "Visit the .../Excel/EP05/Households/Jenner household". (I may have the path there wrong, I didn't write it down.)
Is this a sign of impending BFBVFS? I have Awesomemod installed, along with Nraas Overwatch, ErrorTrap, Register and Careers. At the moment the only EP installed is Pets. Edit: On second thought maybe they weren't randomly generated (I only just now thought to look up who the starting homeless families are, so that's probably where the Jenner household came from.) If that matters, anyway. Title: Re: Game-generated household naming weirdness Post by: kissing_toast on 2012 February 05, 15:04:23 Did you install AP as a package?
Title: Re: Game-generated household naming weirdness Post by: Insanity Prelude on 2012 February 05, 20:31:42 No. I do have the routing fixes from MTS installed (probably should have mentioned that although I'm not sure it's relevant,) but that's in .world format.
Title: Re: Game-generated household naming weirdness Post by: Neowulf on 2012 February 05, 22:27:40 Usually the filepath-name problem affects the original famblies and houses in the world itself, and, as far as I know, has something to do with the placement of the .world file. AP is installed automatically by the Pets EP, so there shouldn't be any problem there. I have used the route fixings from MTS (though I imported the resources through S3PE), and haven't come across this issue. I've never seen this problem affect generated households, though. It looks like it's not actually generating the households, though, but pulling them from somewhere (hence the filepath). Where is the .world file placed, and how did you install the routing fixes?
Title: Re: Game-generated household naming weirdness Post by: Insanity Prelude on 2012 February 05, 22:31:00 The .world file is where it originally installed to (GameData/Shared/NonPackaged/Worlds) and I installed the routing fixes by renaming the original one from .world to .backup and placing the fixed one in its place. I downloaded the already-fixed .world, as I didn't really want to mess around with S3PE if I didn't have to.
Title: Re: Household naming weirdness Post by: Simsample on 2012 February 06, 00:19:37 This sounds like the STBLs have been broken for some reason; perhaps the world has been given a new ID by mistake. I would report it in the download thread.
Title: Re: Household naming weirdness Post by: Insanity Prelude on 2012 February 06, 02:36:23 I will. Thanks; maybe I should try applying the fixes myself after all.
Title: Re: Household naming weirdness Post by: nikkiforest on 2012 February 07, 01:23:01 This has happened to me too, and I didn't do anything but install Pets. It's a pretty easy fix; just go into Edit Town and change the household name if it bothers you.
Title: Re: Household naming weirdness Post by: Insanity Prelude on 2012 February 07, 20:47:56 So chances are EA borked something again, then? Big surprise. If it's not going to break my game, though (with how buggy this whole series is, I was concerned it was a sign of a bigger error,) I can live with renaming a household here and there.
