A load bar that moves, but never completes, is a Patch Fail. Which I found on my first try BTW. Title: Re: Installed awesomemod...now sims3 won't load Post by: Skadi on 2012 January 04, 20:45:32 THIS.
THIS DRIVES ME FUCKING NUTS. You ask something that has been covered over and over again. You make a new thread. YOU FUCK UP THE SEARCH RESULTS WITH YOUR CRAPPY FAIL. I found the answer using the site search, and even google (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=awesome+mod+now+game+won%27t+load). It is not AM. It is YOU. YOU have failed to install it correctly. FRAMEWORK/PATCH FAIL. No go away and fix it. AND STOP MAKING NEW THREADS FOR SHIT THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN COVERED TIME AND TIME AGAIN. Title: Re: Installed awesomemod...now sims3 won't load Post by: prettyevil on 2012 April 15, 03:48:54 Okay, I'm having this problem as well and I do not have patch fail or framework fail. I have been running Awesome Mod for over a year without problems and suddenly when Showtime came out, Awesome causes the game not to load.
I tried loading with Awesome only and it is the problem. Awesome was up-to-date at the time. I have tried to search moar, but searching moar only gave me patch fail and framework fail, neither of which are to blame. What does "causes the game not to load" mean? This is a very vague statement, details. You may also want to back up that last statement of yours with some facts, because those are the two most common causes of fail. Title: Re: Installed awesomemod...now sims3 won't load Post by: prettyevil on 2012 April 15, 04:52:06 Upon starting the game it will hang with the start bar at the very beginning; the bar doesn't even begin to load. I get the EA screen and the start video then that's it. No crash though, just sticks.
I have been running with the same framework for over a year so I think if it were installed incorrectly I'd know before now. As for patch fail, I use the MTS updater because none of the updates have ever installed properly through the game launcher. Unless something is wrong with that, I'm up-to-date, and I'm running an up-to-date Awesome mod. Title: Re: Installed awesomemod...now sims3 won't load Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2012 April 15, 05:10:39 Failure to load is a corrupted file or Framework Fail.
Title: Re: Installed awesomemod...now sims3 won't load Post by: prettyevil on 2012 April 15, 06:15:14 Downloaded a new copy of Awesome mod and same result.
My framework is still installed properly. All my other mods work just fine and Awesome was working fine until I updated. Title: Re: Installed awesomemod...now sims3 won't load Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2012 April 15, 08:11:52 "Other" mods working fine means nothing because they are not core mods. This is like saying that your terlet works, so therefore, your blender should also work and it's totally not your fault you didn't plug it in. Too bad they're totally unrelated. Failure to load is a direct result of either a corrupted file or framework fail: No one else has this problem.

Framework fail is not the problem. And no, I did not have the slider hack mod before; I installed it so I could still make sims while Awesome isn't working for me. Title: Re: Installed awesomemod...now sims3 won't load Post by: wizard_merlin on 2012 April 15, 23:36:31 Out of curiosity, which framework method are you using?

Continuing to beat the same drum and insist it is not framework fail is one sure way to fail to solve the problem. Also, if the slider hack is a core mod, did you remove it before trying to run with AM? Title: Re: Installed awesomemod...now sims3 won't load Post by: Sigmund on 2012 April 16, 17:26:39 Failure to load is a corrupted file or Framework Fail. I actually had this happen to me not long ago, and redownloading AM fixed the problem. You should definitely try downloading AM a few different times before assuming something is wrong with the mod. Title: Re: Installed awesomemod...now sims3 won't load Post by: Honey Maid on 2012 April 25, 00:42:02 I have a similar though hopefully less retarded issue.
I just updated to the newest version of awesomemod and sims 3 game version 1.33. Now my game crashes before even reaching the loading screen. The screen simply goes black and then my computer says the game has stopped responding. Half the time the launcher crashes as well. I've been using awesomemod for over a year, so it can't be the framework, can it? I didn't install a new EP or anything, I was just updating the game and awesomemod. Normally I just update game, update AM, clear caches and I'm good to go. Any idea what's wrong? Game works without AM in. I tried redownloading and installing both the 1.33 patch and the newest AM. Also, if the slider hack is a core mod, did you remove it before trying to run with AM? Your reading skills suck, don't they? Because that post you quote clearly says 'I did not have the slider hack mod before' meaning Awesome was run by itself - obviously since I also said I had it running for over a year. Framework.zip opened and installed into the Sims 3 folder. Game folder put into Sims 3 folder. Resource.cfg put into Mods folder. Only have one directory so no need to install in Expansion directories. And again, the Framework has been working for over a year without fail and is working fine with a different core mod, so it's not framework fail. Beating the same drum and insisting it is what it's not is a sure way to fail to solve the problem. And I redownloaded it multiple times - 6 at least. So they're all corrupted or it's not corrupted. I've moved on though. I've deleted all my Awesome worlds and cobbled together some Twallan mods to do the things I had Awesome doing before. I'm missing Awesome Story, but whatever. Given that most people don't have any issues at all, it is obviously something you're doing wrong. If you installed the framework.zip into the actual sims 3 game folders, then based on what you have said, you have framework fail. The resource.cfg only goes into the mods folder if you have installed the mods into the documents/electronic arts/sims 3 folder, but it could also be that the resource.cfg is wrong for your setup. especially if you recently downloaded i again. Given you said the problem only started with showtime, and if you are using the old method, I bet you forgot to expand the framework into the new EP folders, which would be FRAMEWORK FAIL. Title: Re: Installed awesomemod...now sims3 won't load Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2012 April 26, 01:22:59 Wait, the old method doesn't need any changing, though. I haven't changed my setup since the original base game, and everything works, so if you changed anything at all, you must be doing it wrong.
Title: Re: Installed awesomemod...now sims3 won't load Post by: wizard_merlin on 2012 April 26, 19:34:21 Does the old method still require the d3dx9_31.dll file to be placed in every EP/SP installed, or did that requirement cease at some point? Early in the piece, many people had framework problems due to not adding the d3dx9_31.dll file into the new folders. I have done that for all, including showtime when it was installed, it doesn't appear to be causing a problem, but is it still necessary?
Title: Re: Installed awesomemod...now sims3 won't load Post by: witch on 2012 April 26, 19:39:33 I've found it to be necessary. If I get a new EP and don't drop in the dll, my game won't play.

I've found the same to be true. Hell, I can't even run AM in the new location without putting the framework in the old way with the .dll. Damned if I know why. |
