Title: CrAP frying graphics card. Post by: dawnp on 2011 June 20, 16:33:42 On another site, a user has asked about CAP overheating their graphics card.
Any ideas on why this would happen and any idea on how to fix it? The PC specs are high and the graphics card is an AMD Radeon. She had a few crashing problems until I told her about the FPS Limiter here and now she plays without any crashes. She has tried EA and they couldn't answer her question. She has looked through other forums too. I searched here but I couldn't find anything related to CAP and graphics cards. Title: Re: CrAP frying graphics card. If any game or application causes the graphics card to work too hard, such as an unlimitedTS3 running at 220 fps will overheat and fry a graphics card, irrespective of how good or bad, cheap or expensive, low or high end the card is or isn't. The best way to stop this is to use an fps limiter to keep the rate closer to an acceptable level, thus keeping the heat lower allowing the cooling components to work adequately. Post by: Bruce Banner on 2011 June 21, 19:13:09 CAP doesn't have a V-Sync option ( just like Sims 3 itself ) , but you could add CAP to the list in the application I posted here ( http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15585.msg571257.html#msg571257 ) to enable V-Sync with that .
Title: Re: CrAP frying graphics card. Post by: Skadi on 2011 June 21, 20:10:36 I have the same issue with CAW. I use the EVGA and Nvidia tools to force vsync and keep the gpu fan at 100%. Using the FPS limiter is also an awesome way to do it. Either way the tools EA release are a PITA to work with sometimes.
