Title: Inserting/Removing Hacks?
Post by: laylei on 2005 July 29, 23:06:50
Just a quick question-

When removing and/or inserting hacks into the game (say, I've been playing my mostly hack-free Legacy family, but now I'm going to go play a regular family and I want my Permafridge back), do I need to fully exit out of the game, or can I just alt-tab out to desktop, remove/insert the hack back into/out of the game, and go back in without shutting down the game?

You can't touch the download folder (or any other TS2 subfolder) while the Sims is running. Even if it allows you to, you'll just end up forcing the game to crash.

Quit before messing with the files.

In my game, if I put them in when I'm on the neighbourhood screen, they go in no problem. It's the same as downloading a house from the Exchange - you can do that and it will appear in the Lots & Houses Bin without needing to exit the game and it has to go into your Teleport folder to be able to do that.  It won't let you add them back when you're on a lot, though.  I can't guarantee that it won't mess-up your game, I can only say that I've had no problems with it.  Then again, I've only done it a couple of times when I've forgotten to add a new download or something.  Normally I add things before I start playing.

Ah, thanks. I'll make sure to quit before messing around with it. :)
