This thread may be subject to occasional pruning.  Information of lasting usefulness should be saved elsewhere.

I would not advise use TSR Workshop to "convert" .package files as I notice it have a bad habit of ditching some of textures files.

There is a way around it that is export the .dds and import then back but its just annoying, also some older and odd stuff cannot be loaded properly,.

in short: i cant get the EA store stuff (decrapified and in dbc  and what not in documents/electronic arts/the sims 3/DCCache, I also tried in yadda yadda yadda the sims 3/mods/DCCache with the line PackageFile Mods/packages/*dbc added to the resource config) to show up in game. what am i doing wrong?

Im sure this question gets asked a lot since others typically hate EA as much as i. Im just getting back into the sims (havent played in months) to check out ambitions and have just learned that EA has unleashed some sort of fuckery thats making i difficult for people to add EA store items. So i skimmed this thread first and found that dbc is the ideal format for EA store stuff. Then i followed the directions in this thread: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,17707.0.html to create and install dbc, but nothing will show up in game.

I'm pretty sure i missed a step or put the stuff in the wrong place, if anyone could fill me in on what i did wrong that'd be cool.

FYI:  I never use dbc files and all my custom content shows up in the game and works great with both Ambitions and World Adventures installed.  I use package files.  I've used S3pe to combine a lot of package files, and my game plays fast and quite smoothly. I'm not sure why people don't use package files.  They work perfectly once you learn how to combine/merge them with s3pe to avoid lag, and that's only necessary if you have more than 400 package files or so.  Using s3pe is easy once you learn how. I don't see the need to use dbc files at all.  I haven't had any problem at all using package files, and I have both expansions and am all the way patched up.

You'll need to set up your game files (framework) differently to use custom content with Ambitions and its related patches.  You will need the new resource file that you can find at Mod the Sims to use custom content with Ambitions and the newest patch.  You can find it (and how to set the new framework up) here:

It says that we can post questions about the TS3 store items here so I hope I'm posting this in the right thread. I was wondering if anybody got their hands on the $20 bonus item and/or know what the item is? A link to a picture of it maybe?

Also Snooty mentioned new hairstyles along with the Beach, sun, sand release. Are these included in the download thread or are they still needed?

Did you merge all of your packages into a single 2Gb file? If so it is no wonder that you noticed your game slow down. Try merging them in batches of no more than 200MB. If your game still seems to be slower than before you have probably got some bad CC that you will either need to fix with Delphy's tools or remove.

@ Drakron. I didn't even know the bonus items changed every month. Is there a place where I can see a list of bonus items from each month?

I've been having the same problem with my DBC content not showing up, but I know for certain that my resource.cfg is in order.

Okay so I've been putting all the sims 3 store files into my game and they show up as installed in the launcher,

Where do you have them? In mods or in DCCache? I have renamed my store file to storedcdb0.dbc, and have placed them in a folder named DCCache within the new Mod folder located in the user files. If renamed and left in EAs DCCach, the game doesn't read them.
My resource.cfg reads like this:

Mine are working fine. Resource.cfg is within the new mods folder. Inside my new mods folder is a DCCache folder, a Packages folder with subfolders within, a Test folder, and a Probation folder. You wouldn't need the last two listed, I just have them for ease of testing new custom content without merging the files into my working set, and a test folder because I was trying my hand at making my own xml mods.

Can anyone give me a link to store contents starting June 1? Each sets or objects with it own links, not compiled together in a single rar and in untouched sims3pack. The downloads seems to be cluttered all over the topics here.

Explain; as far as I knew, people preferred decrap versions and .package.

Well, people are supplied with the untouched, they decrap and recompress it themselves and install.

I prefer untouched because I can make them .package myself.

And to answer your question, I don't think so(IIRC).

The preference is to have untouched files so you know you're not getting one where, say, the counters in the Ultra Lounge Kitchen and Bath pack are broken from a previous version of s3rc. It is strongly suggested all over this site to decrapify the items yourself. It isn't particularly hard, and this way everyone knows that there is a clean version of the file available in the event something were to change again, or if they had to reinstall them for whatever reason x.

Oh, and no, they don't work in the launcher without being decrapified first unless they belong to you.

This is probably in here someplace, I have had to reinstall all my games due to the last windows update.  Now I am back at the beginning trying to remember how to reinstall all my custom content, I have the frame network installed even for the latest expansion.  I have saved all my content into packages.  Can someone explain the process to me once again on how to put my content into the game.  I have gotten most of the packages from here and they are in package format, with the exception of what I had previous on my hard drive from the EA Store.  I just can not remember as how to install the packages into the mod files that had been created using the frame netword.

Thank you that did work for the files that have as you would say decrapified and installed and are working.  Now I am working on another project of transferring previous files into .dbc files (I think is the name) I am using s3pe.  I think however I am missing a step as the content is still not showing when I put it into my game.  This is what I have done so far.  I have all the files previously that have not been decrapified (files from the EA Store and from other sites) into a folder.  I then use s3pe to open the files and import them, then save them as dbc files is this correct or am I missing a step?

Those are unmodified files and I have them.  I have decrapified and still am having problems with the new sets.  The file I linked to was a package file that has already been combined which is the only way I haven't tried to add them to my game.  I have all the other sets in my game just fine but I can't seem to get the new ones to work.  Like I said I have tried decrapifying the sims3packs.  They still don't install for me.  I have tried adding the items as package files but my game refuses to load.  I haven't tried a combined package file and that is why I was hoping I could try that file.  I realize that the ways I have already tried should have worked and that it has worked for others and if I could make it work for me like it has before that would be great but I guess my computer or game isn't going to let that happen. Thanks for trying to help. Even though this is MATY I don't mean for this to sound bitchy.  I am just tired of doing what is supposed to work and having my game give me the finger. Hopefully the package files will work. They should in theory since it acts just like user made custom content that way.

Your decrapified files are installing for me so it is somehow that decrapify has stopped working on my machine.  I am not surprised since my computer and I have quite a love/hate relationship.  It does things that no one seems to be able to explain.  At least it is working with your files.  Thanks.

How are you decrapifying your files?  If I drag my files onto decrapify then nothing ever happens. I have to run them through command prompt. I drag the decrapify icon to the command prompt window then press [space]-fD[space] and then drag in my packages seperated by commas. Hit enter and that usually does the trick for me.

Have you cleared your browser cache? Maybe you just keep getting an old one. I also had issue with the browser when I forgot to switch the no-cds .dll with the original when I used the launcher.

For what it's worth, the way I processed my files was to use JFade's Compressorizer (http://forum.jfade.com/download/file.php?id=310), but first I extracted the latest S3 Compression tools from Pescado (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ts3/tools/s3rc-win.rar) in the same directory. The S3RC.exe included in that version is newer than the one that comes with the Compressorizer.

Anyway, I  then run the Compressorizer with the decrapify box checked on the files I want to install and that way seems to do it for me.

Have another question I don't know if anyone has run across this issue yet or if it is a glitch.  I colored customized beds for my game.  Nothing really to much about that.  Previously before I never had this problem now I do.  My sims go to the bed will not sleep, they go to the bed, look at it, spin around as if getting ready to sleep then stand there then pop outside.  They wal around trying to find a bed and do the same thing all over again.  They will nap, but will not sleep.  Anyone else have problems with this?  I am using the content that has been downloaded from here and have no major issues, just when I reinstalled everything.  I have all 4 expansion packs, and have installed all content into base game and all expansions in the mod and packet that was created.  Has anyone else had the issue where they just stare, spin around and look at the bed and is there a fix for this without me reinstalling the games and content once again, I have tried to save my files but it will not let me save anything?

Does anyone know why children can't go to school, it's bugging me. And yes, before you ask, I do know that it is currently a park place. I really don't want the social worker stealin' my kids. Thanks.

First of all there aren't 4 EPs! Just 2 EPs and a stuff pack along with base game.
Secondly if your Sims can't use beds properly and you can't save then I would guess your game is corrupted.

It's been talked a lot about in this thread (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,18680.0.html). Most people are attributing it to the early test version of Awesomemod for Ambitions, though some are saying the have the problem without it even with the base game.

I have tried searching this site and others for this question but cannot seem to find a direct answer. Please understand, this is my last resort.

I am running Mac OSX with Base, WA, HL, and Ambitions. I recently just switched to my Mac so I did a clean install of all 4 and then decided to redownload the store content from here. I downloaded, unzipped, and double clicked to install via the launcher with the internet off. Then I play (with the internet off) and nothing appears.

What do I need to do differently? I am very new to this, especially on Mac. Any help or point in the right direction is appreciated.

Question. I've been trying to turn all the new Dr. Pepper items into .package files for my game and they have all worked except for the new hair. I've tried with both untouched files as well as decrapified and compressed but it keeps doing the same thing.

I think I'll wait for someone to upload the whole Dr. Pepper set with the new files into a package file (could anyone please do that?) but I'd like to know what the hell I'm doing wrong anyway.

True, but Mod the Sims is Care Bear land so you'd probably want to be vague and dance around it or else just pm it.

In theory, installing the Store items is just a matter of getting them decrapified and installed via the launcher, though I'm not sure which Mac programs would do that, or else converting them to package or getting an archive of them already in package form, making sure the framework and directories are setup correctly and then placing the packages there.


The hair did install for me, but I admittedly I haven't checked in game yet.

Also, it's not hard to convert a sims3pack to package yourself. The program I use is Delphy's Sims3pack Multi Installer (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=364038). It's very easy to use and quickly converts a one or multiple sims3pack files into package files.

At no point did I say it wasn't an idiotic thing to do.

None of the sims 3 store packages are installing for me.....well they seem to install and it even says in the launcher that they're installed but when I load up the game they're not there and the next time I look at the launcher it says the package is not yet installed? It's like it either uninstalls the package before I play or it doesn't install at all and it just says that it does.

Although I've also had this problem with custom content sim packages and not just ones from maty :/

Actually, I seemed to have solved my problem under that conclusion before I even got a chance to check back here!  ;D

Although I didn't find a Mac program to convert the files into .package format, I used the DCBackup file. I just copy and pasted the contents into my mods/package folder and wala: all the second update material is in my game!

Now, I admit the game runs incredibly slow. I'm hoping by renaming the files to something not so long and by deleting some exchange bull shit I accidentally downloaded I should be able to get it up to speed.

It did. I renamed about 1,000 files, which took forever. But in my honest opinion, I think it was worth it. Was it worth the hundreds of dollars it would've cost me? No. So heres a thanks to everyone for the help and for the sharing!  :D

That's what I'm doing. Sorry, I should have explained myself better. I use Delphy's Multi Installer and I converted every Dr. Pepper file into a package without problems. The ponytail hair, however, keeps coming out as two different, nameless files which from my experience don't work in game. How do I make the file come out right? I've converted both an untouched version and a decrapified/compressed version of the Sims3Pack but the two come out like that.

I put both ponytail files in my game, and they work. Check under Hats. It doesn't look very special. But the reason there are two files is because EA always includes a separate hair file for elders in the package.

Your files are oddly labeled.  Is there any way for anyone to know what you have without downloading them and looking inside?

They're labeled with the same convention as the first post in this thread (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15100.0.html), where I originally started getting the files. Therefore, you can generally use that post to measure what is in the archive. Example: U13 is the 13th update. It is all of the items from the 13th month since Sims 3 has been out, which also happens to be this month. It also happens to be a partial month, since it isn't over yet. All files to the date on that 7zip are present from this month's updates. I have them separated by major sets and everything else, essentially the same as the main update post does. Starting with items from July 1 and on, I will have a U14 folder going and updated as I have time.

This isn't completely related to the store but it's about the Dr. Pepper Items....

I'm wondering if anyone has any download links for the dr pepper items? In Particular the ponytail, red tracksuit, lips couch, beach chair, surfing suit, surf board and that yellow top.

I have a question regarding the fences from the sims store. I have all of the available store items (and other official stuff) and when I decrapify and install them via the launcher, all of them show up in my game without problems. The only exception are some of the fences. Notably, they all belong to either the Hewnsman or the Ultra Lounge set. However, I don`t believe that the correponding .sims3pack files I use are corrupted. I downloaded and tested them from different sources. Additionally, when I install the unmodified files using base game/WA version 1.7/2.2, and copy the .dbc files into the mod folder of my currrent game (1.12/2.7/3.3/4.0) all the fences do show up. Am I the only one experiencing this, or is this a flaw with the current compressor/decrapifyer version (similar like the old issues with the fireplaces or ultra lounge counter, which were fixed)?

I have SEARCHED MOAR but I can't find all of them.

I've found some of them (lips couch, retro couch, yellow top)

but the adult female ponytail, surfboard and that surfing suit I still can't find. I looked in all the store update downloads

Note that the actual files are named somewhat differently than their names on the website, so Pepper's Pony Tail is the file afHairHatSTOREPonytailLong.Sims3Pack, etc.

It is moderated to be free of extraneous posts and contains only downloads. For the most recently released store/bonus content, read the replies in reverse order and check the last page first.

Bluh, the wedding set needs some fixes. There's quite a few plants, but most of them are only found under Misc and Statues (one is not found in statues), and none are found under plants, where they should be.

Edit: Reading Comprehension Fail. I was thinking you were talking about the untouched simpacks uploaded by Trinity for some reason.

I downloaded Trinity's sims3pack file of the Romanza Wedding and converted it myself into a .package and I noticed that the festive fencing wasn't in the game - I think EA didn't put the fence in the set - like that Fanciful Fashions Set - there were suppose to be 3 pairs of high heels and only 2 were in the set.

This is weird - I spent the 25 points and bought the festive fencing separate, installed it, and started up my game.  When I got into a house, I noticed not only did I have the sims3pack file of the festive fencing, but, the .package of the festive fencing was showing up.  I got out of my game, uninstalled the sims3pack file of the festive fencing and started up my game.  I got into a house, and I noticed now the .package of the festive fencing wasn't showing up anymore.  I don't understand.

Panama Crew has the new Dr. Pepper stuff in package format in his pack he just posted and the others are in a previous pack of his. This isn't an à la carte restaurant. Just get the packs and take out what you need.

I would do what Panama suggested. Make the festive fencing .package separate and then just upload that single file or include it in your combined .package file of the wedding stuff. I still do not have the festive fencing so if you could upload the Sims3Pack, it would be greatly appreciated.

You people have all made sure you're using the latest version of the decrapifier, haven't you?

Dunno. You could try manually decrapifying with a new download.

Okay, thanks Witch. I'll try that next time and see if it works without any flaws.

I used the very latest s3rc/decrapify.exe and the file is still wonky. It installs fine and you'll see it in your launcher, it just won't appear in-game. Decrapifying the single object itself and trying to install it won't do anything since it's already installed, and using it as a decrapified .package won't either because the resource will still be broken. At least it's an easy thing to fix until Pescado has time to look at the decrapifier.

Come to think, weren't there some other fences people mentioned as missing? I fixed them all a while ago myself but figured the decrapifier was working fine for them by now. If they're still broken I can make some more packages.

Well, let's see.  Your post has ABSOLUTELY NOT A THING TO DO WITH THE TS3 STORE AND/OR ITS ITEMS, so that's kind of your first hint that this isn't the proper place for it.  Contextual clues can be all hard and stuff, I know, but it's a cross we have to bear when dealing with the written word.

No one replied and I haven't checked myself so I'm not sure, but seems possible the decrapified Hewnsman and Ultra Lounge fences are also not showing properly.

I knew that package. format slows down the game but i don't understand decapify thing, how to make it?
I red alot of forums about it but still i cant make working dbc. files

Adelajde-- I was having a hard time getting them to install in my game too, an for some reason this site always is slow for me, so it took awhile to load pages and find the answer. Anyways a couple of pages back, I saw this quote from Motoki which was super helpful to me.


That completely works for me, just get those tools and stuff your downloads in the right folder and this will auto-decrapify and compress everything for you so it can run through the launcher okay.  Any of the other things I tried failed each time, so btw, thanks Motoki for this ^_^

I just checked and only half of the fences installed correctly.  All Sims3Packs were decrapified with "s3rc.exe -fD" using the newest s3rc.  The fences that don't work are Manor Fence and Off-Fence from the Hewnsman set, Protective Fence from the Ultra Lounge Comfort set (the Division Fence from the same set works), and the Festive Fencing from the Romanza Ceremony set.  There are other items from those sets in the game, so the sets are installed.

Oh, dear God.  Buy the damn store items and go away, please.

I noticed the patterns in the Zen set don't exactly work as they should. (I extracted the packages after running them through the compressurizor, and then packaged them in one file.) The appear as blank, unselectable things in the fabric section.

That's strange. When I extracted there were 3 patterns, and one looked like it was meant to work with the shoji screen.

A new s3rc was released today which fixes the issues with the four fences.

Hi I tried installing the steampunk package from the front page of the forums however when i have it in the launcher it shows the package image and the file type says "Object" And when I use the installer and look at the downloads it just has the same image with object , not the individual files and none of it shows up in game , its the same with several other sets ...
Can anyone help me?

There is a tutorial posted here at MATY by Anach on how to compile all of your files (.dbc) so your game runs smoother. I also have a tutorial that is pretty much the same as Anachs but with some changes. You can find it here: http://ts3.tscexchange.com/index.php?topic=1397.0. The decrapifier is for Sims3Packs. The whole purpose of the decrapifier is to fool the game into thinking that store content is just regular CC, not pirated content. If you try and extract the files with Delphys extractor tool and then compile them in S3PE (without decrapifying), you will receive an error because the store content is now pirated since you didn't buy it directly from the store. If you download .package files of the store items, you just add them into your mods/packages folder.You can, if you choose to do so, compile them into single files such as 'June 2010'. If you don't understand how the whole process works, I would suggest just waiting until the months are in single .package files and download them instead of trying to compile them yourself. All of the files Panama Crew posts are in package format.

And yes as jeromycraig noted, you can also quite easily convert sims3packs to package format with various tools such as Delphy's Sims3Pack Multi Extractor at Mod the Sims. I suggest you look into such tools in the future to avoid bugging people to do it for you and post it.

I also have the same items posted in .package format. Panama Crews files are all combined but I posted mine as individual files if you want them in singular form. Also, posted on the SAME PAGE, is a link for the life's a beach and other June 2010 .package files for download.

If you just read the descriptions above everyone's links, you will know what files are .package format and what files are S3packs. There are a few people here that have their own 4shared account and constantly update all of the files so if you search MOAR, I'm sure you will find who they are. Then I would suggest just checking their pages for updates instead of coming on here and whining that you can't find anything.

If your card and drivers are allowing that resolution, it should be selectable in the game. I know some cards don't have it in their drivers by default as a standard resolution even though the card supports it. In that case you'd probably have to fiddle with the drivers or ini files prior to driver install. There are ways to add a resolution to your video cards set of available standard resolutions, but it's rather beyond the scope of this site.

I'd suggest checking out either ATI or Nvidia fan forums, depending upon which card you have, and search around with regard to adding custom resolutions.

I just updated my graphics card last week (I'm running a Nvidia 100M card for notebooks) and now I have 5 new options in my game for the size screen. While TS3 is loaded, click on options --> and then the first tab should be selected already which are the graphics settings. I just looked through my options and I have all of the new screen sizes except for the one you are asking about :-\ but I do have the option of 60 hz for the screen refresh rate.

Oh and I thought I was the only one receiving these little missives. I even tried to reply, but the mailbox, as noted, is full. I was just going to send a link to motoki's helpful post about uninstalling, then reinstalling mods in the new place.


Now I feel like I've been two-timed.

Patching isn't really an option for anyone who wants to continue to use mods and custom content. Creators will always create for the latest version of the game and you'll be left behind.

If someone's game won't patch there's something wrong. Probably the modified or overwrote one of the important game files such as with a NOCD crack etc. Ideally if you backed up your original unchanged files before you modified them you can just put them back. The error log in the patcher will tell you which files it's erroring out on and aren't the correct version it's looking for.

If you still can't get it to patch then you really should just reinstall from scratch. You can backup your saved game and custom content so you don't have to lose anything.

Seriously, anyone trying to do a song and a dance to get things to work without patching don't. You need to get that patch situation taken care of first. If all else fails, reinstall, start over and don't use those damned nocd cracks that come with the torrents!. Awesomemod already included NOCD functionality and if that doesn't work Twallan has a stand alone NOCD mod in the form of a package that does not require you to replace any important files. I don't have the link off hand so just do a search for it.

Hm... something's wrong.

So I downloaded all of the item sets on the first page of the other thread. I placed them in the Downloads section, which makes them appear via launcher. I installed them, and they worked as I played. However, after quitting the game and opening it again, a lot of the items vanished! Only patterns, some items, and two clothes remained intact.

Coincidentally, that's what I first did prior to joining and none popped out. None for "disappeared installed files", "custom files disappeared", "vanished installed files", and even "deleted installed files".

Did you decrapify? or if you don't want to decrapify, you'll have to extract them with Delphy's simspack extractor, after running them through the compressurizor, and finally, merge them all using s3pe so the massive amount of files will not cause massive lag.

Oh, and if you Decrapify, you'll need to decrapify all your saves too. So.. what you need to search is... 'Merging packages', or 'Decrapify' or possibly 'dcb files' or 'merged store content.'

Ah thanks. I'll go for the latter, since I already have Delphy's tool.

Just a question out of curiosity here; do game saves still need to be decrapified? I'm a bit wary since the format of the saves changed. I decrapify my mods folder and the sims3packs before they get put into .dbc, but I haven't done the game saves in a while.

I don't think it's something you need to regularly do. My understanding, and someone correct me if I am wrong here, was that it was mainly just a one time thing when the decrapify process started so that any references to the old un-decrapified store hair, clothing and objects in the save would be aligned with the decrapified versions.

Even if you did run an undecrapified save with decrapified objects as far as I know the worst that will happen is some stuff just doesn't show. I loaded an old save from last year recently and the only problems were one sim I had put store hair on ended up bald and some furniture in a couple of houses was substituted for base game versions, but nothing blew up and it was easy enough just to re-add those things.

Anyway, if your save was decrapified once way back and and you are regularly decrapifying store items and lots prior to installing them via the launcher I don't see any reason why you should need to keep decrapifying your save file. The save shouldn't have any way to reference un-decrapified files if you are doing that.

OK Ta. All my games are now new, so I will decrapify today.

The wedding set that was posted in the s3store downloads thread is the entire set.  I was wondering if anybody knew a way for me to separate out JUST the clothing files from the s3pack?  Or if anyone has already done that, could they post it for downloading?  I can't use the launcher to install the files, and when I convert them to .package files, it's too much for my computer to handle and it won't load my neighborhoods (it's just build and buy objects that have this effect).  I tried Rainbow Brite's tutorial to put them into one gigantic .package file but it's a no-go.  My computer is still not happy with this and won't load the game.

(I am 100% sure it's the romanza wedding files, as the game loads just fine when I remove them.)

Today i restarted to play the sims3 from a few months brake only to find that all the store stuff i had downloaded wasnt showing up in game.
Im kind of confused as to what steps i should take now.
Has this problem been fixed? Do i need a fresh download of the items or is there a new method of installing them?

I tried that link you listed its not working..  I guess it really doesn't matter cause I cant get the patch to load.. I have nailed it down to the new file in game/bin/ EAWebkit.  will allow to load partly but still not accept the patch.
cleared the cache files in program data and for some reason that darn patch will not load,, so gonna have to go to my other computer to try it.. there wasn't any cc loaded.. just the plain base game not even played.. can play it without the patch but once that patch is at 98% fails , EA support has no idea what the problem is.. they said after a week of deleting the registry and other files they now need more time to find out what the reason is.. but that was the main info I needed I got thank you..  untill that patch is accepted I cant load any cc..
But really this site has so much info and you can learn so much.. just takes time.

No it still works. I just tried it. Also the just updated for the patch version of Awesomemod works to remove the CD check too.

However you can't launch the game from the launcher. This includes from the default desktop icon the game makes which calls the launcher first.

You have to run directly from the game executable, which would be TS3.exe if you only have the basegame, TS3EP01.exe if World Adventures is the most recent expansion/stuffpack your have, TS3SP01.exe if HELS is the most recent expansion/stuff pack you have or TS3EP02.exe if you have Ambitions.

I'm still having no joy' even with the blow-by-blow description, keeps repeating itself, telling me to insert disk.

Installing the latest AWESOMEMOD seems to have done the trick and it's running faster.

Right now they have KISS, Lil Wayne, Ozzy Osbourne, Sex Pistols, and Shakria.

The Dr. Pepper stuff looks nice, particularly the chair. Is there a package with all of the dr pepper stuff anywhere?

Not only that but it's not in Simlish script or pictures of Sims dressed up like those artists, it's just a direct copy and past of some real world poster.

I don't download user made custom content that uses real world pictures and contains English text so I won't be downloading this either.

Really, it looks like the most amateurish custom content in the community. It boggles my mind they think people will want to use their sim points for this.

Most of those live nation items do look like crap.  To top it off, I just read this following quote at the bottom of the live nation page.

EA won't allow people to spend their "free" points on the items.

Packages do work. You just installed them wrong. You should address that first before attempting to add further items to your game.

Additionally, a method to bypass the checks on the store files and get the launcher to install them does exist. If you had searched and/or read these threads more you would have already known this.

Got the 7 new Dr Pepper items (thanks!). I ran across a thread on the Sims 3 forum about the new Dr Pepper promo stuff. There are a few items that I haven't yet seen anywhere. I did a search and nothing popped up for these items. Anyone know if they're part of the new promo set, or are these old and I just overlooked them?

Yep, those are new items. I couldn't get them because I ran out of codes. Maybe tomorrow I get more.

I think there are ten new Dr. Pepper items in total. The gown, two shirts, the hair, a theatre chair, popcorn, two trophies, two wall hanging things.

There's 3 wall hangings actually. The Golden Record, the Prized Jersey and the Starlet's Autograph, so there's 11 items total that are new for July.

With the old Mods folder set-up my game simply refused to read combined package files. With the new setup of the Mods folder, it does read them and chokes - it takes 35 minutes to start the game and about as long to load the 'hood with the combined package installed, while both take about 5 minutes when I take the package back out.

It's probably a Mac thing, but really annoying.

Anyhow, thank heaven for this site where I can get the Dr Pepper stuff without having to swallow the soda...  8)

And I have another question: the launcher used to be recursive, and now only sees what is in downloads, not in subfolders. Am I the only one with this issue?

Why would you have subfolders in your Downloads folder?  The files are in your DCCache folder after you install a sims3pack.  It seems a little pointless to organize the sims3packs into little subfolders when the actual gameplay files are consolidated into massive DCB's.

I assume they do it for backup purposes like I do. Although, if that is the case, I don't see why you would want it looking in subfolders, because your launcher would be all cluttered with everything, and not just the shit you are installing now. I keep non-decrapified store items in a subfolder in downloads, once every month or so I delete the old store.dbc and make a new one that includes the newer sets. I also keep a few of my more used objects in their own folder, in case I need to delete something and rebuild the .dbc. It's easier then going into my backup drive and extracting all of them all over again. Or maybe Indiasong extracts the rars straight to Downloads and is bothered by the fact that in order for the Launcher to see them, they need to go remove them from any folders they may have been in within the rars.

Since I've been keeping the sims3packs backups in downloads, which has been a few months now, it has never seen into the subfolders.

I keep the original .sims3packs in subfolders on one of my HDDs. When I want to re-do the .dbc files I merely do a search on the CC root folder for *.sims3pack files, then copy/paste the whole bally lot to the downloads folder for processing with decrapify etc.

I'm trying to minimise the size of my files and I've deleted the THUM parts from my packages files using S3PE, which I read on another site (the site said that even without the THUM parts, the game will automatically create thumnails). My query is, can the same be done with the DBC files in my DBCCACHE folder?

Yes, it can. This actually works out well because with decrapified files, the thumbnails included show up as too large in the catalogue. Deleting them from the DCCache DBCs forces the game to generate normal looking thumbnails instead.

The one side effect is that you won't see any thumbnails for the objects if you're browsing them in the launcher. I never do that so it isn't a problem for me.

I haven't played since February, I think, but I have had my sims3packs in folders since the beginning, for backup purposes.I promised myself never to suffer again the mess that was my downloads folder in Sims1.
And I extracted them directly in their folders. The launcher would show the non installed at the top, so it didn't matter if I forgot what I hadn't installed. I have reinstalled everything but the sims3packs, and will go the decrapifying route this time, since the working launcher method doesn't work anymore. So I suppose the non recursive launcher doesn't matter , as I will have to keep the untouched files elsewhere.
Done. It seems to have worked, I have a big fat dbc with 904mb of store items.

yes is a glitch... reinstall you game (frist sims 3 base(whit all patchs...) after ambitions etc....)

I've tried getting these files from the other things posted and none of them worked on my launcher, I've tried other suggestions to get them to work on my launcher and they still don't work for me, I recently download the Island Villa/Dr. Pepper stuff in monkeyhead package and they were the only ones that worked for me, I tried converting some of the things to monkey head myself and anything from the store comes out with a lot of extra packages and they still don't work. But when they are a sing package folder, they seem to work really well.

Does anyone have the 'Study In Fractures' mirror? It was a free item in the store but has been removed recently. Here's a picture:

Does anyone know where the link to the decrapified Steampunk sets is? And if not, can anyone upload them for me?

I downloaded these sets from MATY a long time ago, and it worked. Then I had to reinstall my game. Now I can't find working copies of the Steampunk sets. I downloaded one that was posted a long time ago but either it wasn't decrapified or the tool's now outdated, or something, because it didn't work.

I'm on a Mac so I need the decrapified files, unless that's also changed in the time since I last played Sims...

Decrapify is a really simple DOS based program that uses very little resources. Are there not DOS emulators for Mac (http://tinyurl.com/2eb9s2g)?

For the record, I did try to solve my own problem, but this time I didn't manage to. I tried to find files that worked, but couldn't. Then I tried to find current information on how to clean them on a Mac, but only found instructions for people who have a second machine running Windows. If the information is there I haven't found it yet.

I'm skeptical that you looked very hard. If you had bothered to search, you would know that Pescado has stated more than once that decrapified files should not be shared, so no, you won't be able to find them. The answer is to decrapify them yourself. Google DOS emulator for mac and go from there.

I believe there's no proper workaround for macs when it comes to decrapifying. Sharing the already decrapped files has is only a partial solution, as the files seem to bork somewhere between computers and the internets. I'm using a mini laptop with XP to decrap my files, it's a bit slow but does the trick. The other option is Boot Camp.

Dos emulators could work, but looks like no-one has really looked into it.

As it would require far less resources than emulating Windows, one would think it would be a better solution.

Alternately, someone could ask Pescado for the source code to S3RC/Decrapify or use the existing source code for Peter Jones' S3SU that extracts packages (http://sourceforge.net/projects/sims3tools/files/s3su/1006-06-1852/s3su-Source_1006-06-1852.7z/download) to compile a utility that either decrapifies on Mac or extracts Sims3Pack to package on Mac.

As far as I know, JFade's 3Viewer still works for extracting sims3packs to packages on a mac, but it doesn't decrapify or compressorize.

As happy as I am with my mac, we're a minority in the Sims community, and it's ridiculous to expect other people to constantly cater to your own personal needs. There isn't a perfect solution, but since the majority of Sims users are on Windows, you just have to work around it.

I know what a shell is, numbnuts. The thing is, no one can be bothered to give me access to one, and I don't actually have a Mac, probably because I'm not dumb enough to pay more money for the same damn computer with an apple on it.

I'm back and started working on upadting my files and gathering the items I've missed while I was away. I should have the new items posted in my 4shared folder later today or tomorrow, in package format and with any changes needed to fix items.

However there are a couple things I'm missing that I haven't seen posted yet. Not sure if I just missed them or if no one has them yet. If no one has them I can try to get a couple of the things later this week.

Also, I think you will find little interest in those band T-shirts and posters as they are cheap 5 second cut and paste jobs. Likewise for any non-game content such as images you can put on your BBS profile, Windows wallpaper and whatnot.

Not sure if this was in response to me. But I don't use the Decrapify tool. I use S3cr, Sims3Pack Multi Insaller, S3pe, CTU & s3oc only to edit my sims3packs and turn them into packages. I never put them thru the Decrapify, for me it's an unneeded step and also it then allows individuals to decide if they want to or not.

As for the bandstuff I just found it odd cause usually someone gets everything even the little things like that at some point and shares. Not a big deal and as said I plan to get them if nothing else and would be glad to share if anyone wanted them.

It was more or less a reminder to anyone, but I wasn't sure if your preparation process included decrapify of not.

Of course then if you don't decrapify the lazy Mactard pirates will whine.  ::)

On those shirts/posters, I don't know if EA made them for Livenation or Livenation made those themselves but they are seriously the laziest effort of any objects in the store by far. A BBS noob could easily make similar content in very little time by slapping some random image on the net into a shirt or poster in TSR Workshop.

Compare those to say something like this (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=409706) where the creator took real movie posters, remade them with with actual sims and put the text in Simlish and the lack of effort is apparent. They stick out like a sore thumb and do not fit the game environment at all, not to mention the fact that they are charging people for what is essentially advertising.

I am sure there are some people out there who want them, but I won't be downloading everything EA posts no matter what the quality simply because it is EA.

Hey now, I use a mac, and I supply the raw files. Of course, I also decrapify using my windows install on parallels. The lack of technical intelligence of the vocal mac users just amplifies my opinion that macs shouldn't be widely used as a personal computer.

It looks like the techie people who were able to create programs running on both-- JFade and the 3Viewer, Echo and Postal are the two coming to mind-- are no longer involved in the community.

In addition to parallels, which Silent Dreamer mentioned, boot camp is another common way of running Windows programs on a Mac. I'm currently trying out VirtualBox, mostly for decrapifying and S3PE, and it's working fine so far. There are plenty of options out there, the people who whine about wanting decrapified files are just being lazy.

Thanks. And for the record "Mactard" only refers to those on a Mac who are attempting to ARR the files and are not resourceful enough to find ways to decrapify them. If someone legitimately purchases items from the store (or gets them as a bonus for purchase) then they should install without modification with no problem. If they don't you then can legitimately complain to EA about it. (Although I would not expect a useful or competent reply. :P)

Noted. ;) Anyway, I wish I was savvy enough to be of help compiling the decrapifier for Mac, but I'm not... On the other hand, I knew when I got my Mac that this sort of thing was bound to happen. It's my own responsibility to find a way to make it work.

EA Tech Support is a joke. Although if you're on a Mac, and nag on long enough about an issue, they will very often buy you off with free SimPoints. Someone in level 3 Tech Support actually admitted to me that they didn't have the game installed on a Mac in the support office. So I guess throwing SimPoints at me is easier than trying to fix my issues. I still have my issues, but I did get some four or five thousand free Simpoints out of it this past year...

Pescado, the creator of the decrapify tool, has expressly stated people should not share decrapified files. If you are on a Mac or just a tard on a PC figure it the fuck out and STFU because plenty of other people have made it work.

Even when I was young, color was still considered a novelty and most things were still in black and white. The addition of color to westerns is actually one of those concessions to modern viewers, much like sounds-in-space. The real thing would have been in black and white.

Hey for some reason the store packs aren't installing right. So yeah I get them on my desktop as .sims3pack and then double click on them and wait for it to finish, then click on it in my launcher and install it to game, but when I open my game it doesn't show at all! What the blizzy is going on? Thats not mentioning the more recent store items don't work at all...

If you want to install through the launcher, you need to decrapify and recompress the files. You can find the programs you need and the instructions right here on this board.

I've been away from the game for a long time, but this may be of help to my fellow Mactards:

I've been using 3viewer (which is Java and therefore cross-platform) to install CC. AFAIK it works fine with batch installations (assuming you choose the correct installation paths of course). No decrapifying necessary.

That's true. Decrapifying is only necessary if you want to install via the launcher, OR if you decrapified your other files (Saves, library, etc.). I did this when I was playing under boot camp for awhile, and so now decrapify all my downloads before putting them in the game.

Hmm, that works? Isn't there some XML value that marks them as paid content though? IIRC, decrapify changes that so it's no longer marked as paid content.

I guess that value is only really used by the launcher, but I don't trust EA not to change the game itself at some point so that it checks it too.

It seemed to work fine the last time I did it - the Montalcino car appeared in the catalog when I installed that, for example.

Now that I've tried installing quite a bit more store CC (up to "May 2010" according to this particular torrent), it seems that the game's launch time is noticeably slowed by its presence, to the point that it doesn't get past the initial splash screen when I installed all 292 files.

I divided my content into three batches of 100 sims3packs each, and the game launched, albeit slowly, with any one of the three batches, so I think the issue is not a particular borked CC. More experimentation may be called for. (Of course maybe this is a known issue that I have forgotten about.)

Weird thing, i just downloaded the new store (provance, puschin pedals etc) stuff, i run it through sr3s and decapify as im doing always, but this items wont show up in the game.The laucher is showing it up as installed....

It worked for me.  Try redownloading the decrapifier; maybe you have an older version.

Does Anyone have the newest Dr.Pepper dress and hair style separate?  All I can find are combined packs.

In general, we frown upon people asking for specific files to be posted for them because they are too lazy to get a combined pack and fish the files they want out of them. However in this case I posted them on page 7 of this very thread:


Next time look through the threads more. If you are looking for items released in July, check the posts in this thread and the store downloads thread around July. If you still don't find them then just get the combined pack and yank out what you want. I guarantee it's faster than waiting for someone else to post it.

AFAIK, all the Dr. Pepper items are individual and don't actually come in sets. When people pack them up as group I believe they are just throwing them all together into one zip file.

If you get them as sims3packs and need it as a package use Delphy's Sims3Pack MultiExtractor (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=364038) or 3Viewer (http://forum.jfade.com/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=466) if you are on a Mac.

ETA: It seems these 'packs' of store items in package format made by Panama Crew are all shoved together into one package, including Dr. Pepper stuff. Never having bothered to download the store files in package format before I never noticed this. It's a huge pain in the ass to separate files once they've been shoved together, but on the flip side I know how to combine separate files if I really want to.

At any rate, if you just want specific files it's easier to just get the sims3packs and then if you need a package extract them yourself with the tools I linked above.

The other thread for store releases has links to the sims3packs. One of the file hosters has them zipped by month of release, the other has them all separate. Generally avoid anyone that pre-combines .package files or pre-decrapifies their files and do it yourself. It's extremely easy and this will save you hassles down the road.

I have also found it useful to keep a copy of the sims3packs undecrapified (is that even a word?). I have a couple of external terrabyte drives so space is not an issue.

I used to have a EA hair called short and choppy (for FA) - hell it must have been one of the very first hairs because I used it to make my selfsim. Somewhere along the way I have lost this hair and I cannot find it again. There's a couple of references in the downloads thread, but one's for a broken link and the other doesn't actually contain that hair.

No worries I will not be posting anymore. All I did was try to share one of my downloads, give positive feedback and all I got in return was rudeness.

A) they aren't decrapified.
B) they have all already been posted by others in .sims3pack format just look back a few pages. Cause I don't want to use all my space at 4shared for posting various different formats of the same stuff when there are already others who have it in that format alot.

Do you have unmodified versions of the T-mobile  files? I only have the pants, which I can post when I get home later, but I glitched out yesterday and haven't been able to access the page without a 'wait 24 hours' notice yet. Though now the website is just giving me the same obnoxious error, so I can't even check to see if my 24 hours is up yet.

So, to get things straight: first I should get the S3 Compression tools, then run the JFade's Compressorizer, and then I should have the files turned into .packages, right? What is more convenient? To do this, or to use the .dbc "option"? If I have a lot of files to put into the game, which option would you recommend?

That's the problem. Everyone who says that they searched and couldn't find anything only did one search. If the phrase or word that you ran a search on did not have any result try saying it a different way and if that doesn't result in anything try again. And agan. And again. The answers are there. Well then I have two suggestions to make it work better:

True it's not needed there are other ways but I perfer packages cause they can be easily edited to fix things that EA messed up liike clothes & objects in the wrong section or objects that cost $1 which also bugs me.

EA will be selling worlds, Barnacle Bay (http://www.thesims3.com/community/www.thesims3.com/barnaclebay) will be available at the store in the fall.

I bet this will quite expensive.

Need to be decrapified to use the Sims3Pack. I use the one file Motoki  provided, I think a couple of pages back.

Been waiting to get my grubby fingers on the LoudFast set.

Can't get the loud fast set to work. Decrapifying gives an error that flashes by too fast to read.

Why not just convert them yourself? That's what I'm doing.

Never had much luck with converting sims3packs and getting them to work properly.

You should attempt to fix it with s3rc first, I remember Pescado said about this with some troubled Sims3Packs.

Simply run the following:
s3rc -fD "LoudFastFullSet.Sims3Pack"

Duh, got it to work, didn't clean my caches after my first attempt.

I got a command script from this site, I am pretty sure Motoki posted it. Followed the instructions and put it in the folder. That is the only drag and drop I use. I think everything is done at once.

If only I could find where Motoki posted that helpful tool.

At this point I wanna just uninstall ALL the store stuff (sims3pack or otherwise) and redownload it lal because for all I know half of it doesnt work. I'm lost.

I've now lost track of the author's name, but it's on the site somewhere.

1.   Save this with an text-editor (Start > Run > "notepad" > OK, f.e.) to s3rcBatch.cmd
2.   The file icon has now (depending on your Windows-Version) something like cogwheels.
3.   If you copy this file f.e. in your Save-Folder TOGETHER with the s3rc.exe, and double-click on it, it decrapifies all .sims3pack, .package, .nhd, .sim, .dbc in every subdirectory (i.e. save-game) it can find.

That's it Witch. Using that is the only way I can get the Sims3Pack to work.

10 minutes later and...it still doesn't work.

It did make one file that didn't work before work, but that's about it.

I just installed all the new downloads successfully. I suspect it's an ID10T error.

That set-up worked for me on all the most recent stuff.  There's also S3PE, which is what I think what was referred to earlier as JFade's front end.  Not sure.  I've not used that myself.

Other than that, I got nothing, short of redownloading stuff to make sure you don't have a borked file.

No, that is just S3PE.

JFade did a shell for s3rc called Compressorizer but its just a user interface, if s3rc is not decrapifing then the Compressonizer is not going to work either.

I dont decrapify, I create .dbc so I can only say it works on my end as usual.

Note: Pescado says if you decrapify the sims3packs, you also need to do other files.

"If you decrapify objects, you must decrapify all of your SAVED GAMES (.nhd & .packages in your .sims3), PRESETS (userPresets.package), and LIBRARY."

I usually also use Delphy'd dashboard thingy to clear all the caches after a new install.

Just out of curiousity, has anyone successfully downloaded the Octoberfest set from either of the two download links in this thread? Neither one is working for me.. and not sure if it's the files, or my internet connection atm...

That link did also work for me, but it took about 30 minutes before the file was downloaded.

I think it's a problem with the filehosting.  My download speed dropped drastically on that file as well.

I think its a mediafire problem, my AV kept blocking the download as malicious. I finally got everything and I have updated my 4shared, link in the siggy.

I got the Oktoberfest set working from one of the links here but not straight away. I decrapified it and installed which it told me it succeeded in but the content didn't actually show in the Installed Content tab until the fourth time I restarted the launcher and after deleting some old content I no longer wanted.
Same issue with the Loud, Fast, Clash! set.

Octberfest was fine for me, but i forgot to do the loud fast full download so im doing it now, and its 18 minutes! Normally like 7/8 minutes to download it... super bummed ;(

not sure what you people are doing, but all of the september items installed and worked the first time for me.

It has to be the hosting causing all the issues. I managed to get octoberfest just fine but one of the others I downloaded took bit, and the download rate was inconstant during the download. It did not install properly after being decrapified, even after trying again with the vanilla file to make sure that the decrapify process had gone okay. I had to redownload it then kept an eye on the download rate. Mediafire is bad about this shit.

Everything worked fine for me as well. Less than a minute to download any file, decrapified and installed perfectly.

Installed everything as usual without any problems. The hardest part was being patient while the "punk" set was being downloaded (took about 15 minutes!).

Sphinx has not packed this Set. It has 80 MB unpacked, the packed as .rar has 60 MB.

I don't like to complain, I am just thankful that there are people like you who will upload this stuff for us poor slobs who can't afford it but really want the store stuff! without youmy game would be really empty and sad!

Decrapify them yourself. It's been said over and over that we're not supposed to share decrapified files since they could cause issues. Stop being so fucking lazy and do it yourself.

Since you write like you were deprived of oxygen to the point of partial brain damage, I really doubt you can learn how to convert sims3packs OR decrapify.  I would suggest you stick to something less complicated, like learning how to butter toast.  Should you really, really want to test your limits, learn how to READ, how to WRITE, and how to SEARCH before posting again.

I am curious if anyone else is having issues with fast lane. I have started getting an error code 12 recently playing it.

I played for a while last night and I think I have it narrowed down but has this happened to anyone else with the new EP. I have all the other EP's but this is the first one I have had this issue creep up in.

We're going to have to run NVDIA performance monitor and record it. I was under the assumption it was a conflict in the game.... it seemed to only happen when I did quite a bit of farming (two of my sims are gardeners and both earn points when each other works, so I thought maybe the game didn't like both of them leveling up) and it also happened when I went into CAS and tried to save afterwards. I seem to also be getting my household characters randomly running (I have to put them on the clipboard then re-enter them into the house). I took out all mods when I installed the new game. I've also had it happen with CC & without it, and I've had it happen with cheats enabled and without. I have a very high performance computer, graphics card and 4GB of RAM.... so I am boggled. But I am sure EA knows what they are doing right! F'n game... I love it and hate it in the same thought!

Have there not been made a .package or a set of packages (that do not come in 20+ parts) containing all the Store items? After Fast Lane most of the packages started conflicting.

I finished making one last night (I was mostly making sure the clothing categories were correct, because townies in speedos, kilts, leiderhosen and wedding gowns at inappropriate times annoyed me), I think mine is between 7 and 10 packages total, but I haven't gotten the chance to test it yet, and I'm not sure I want to upload it.

Have you tried merging them yourself? It's not that hard. Or you could go the decrapify route, which is 'easier' apart from the fact that you can't fix things.

Sims3packs decrapified before Pescado fixed the program doing so are unusable. The only way to go about it is to find the original files and decrapify them using the newest version of the "decrapifier". As for merged package files, I suspect what Moryrie is trying to say is that there is no way to reverse the process. That is, if you merge package files once, you can't unmerge them and erase single files. You have to find the original package files and merge them. This information is readily available to find on the site when performing a search. If you ask again, be ready to be sporked.

I'm not including those, the free sponge t-shirts, the orange t-shirts (Though I did include the patterns from that shirt) the Dr. Pepper concert shirts, or  the two free T-mobile shirts.

They're all free, they're all readily available, and I don't have any use for those specific files. The Toyota stuff is all crappy duplicates of the Renault stuff, so everyone SHOULD just use the Renault stuff. The 2nd Toyota set is plastered with ugly, 'Buy Toyota' ads, and unless someone replaces the textures on all that with blankness, I see no worth in including those.

If you want them, grab someone else's set, not mine, decrapify and install, or just do a normal launcher install, because they're all free anyway.

edit: I May consider including the extra Prius stuff, but only the stuff in the celebration pack that isn't duplicated in the Renault pack. But only if other people want it as well. And I won't include it until I need to update the packages again for new stuff.

And if you do not mind a quick question, that I'm going to ask even if you do mind, the "Never the Bride" (blue dress with pink bow on the front) dress from the "Romanza Bridal Party"set keeps being assigned to my pregnant Sims despite it not having a pregnancy mesh; Has this been fixed in your packages?

Ah, yes, I noticed those being classified as pregnant, and I didn't know about a lack of mesh, so I left it as is. But, you'll never see it if it is chosen unless your pregnant ladies wear formal wear often. I will see about fixing that if I can find what file they were in, eventually.

Hey, I'm good with not seeing it on every damn pregnant Sim as everyday wear!  It's funny for non-pregnant Sims with the Insane trait for random giggles, but otherwise that dress is pretty nauseating.

I didn't think to do that. The names are all listed in the packages, so I could, create such a file. I'll see about doing that in the near future? Faster if you don't mind sloppy snips instead of a nicely typed list.

Also, about updates. I plan to more or less, take the smallest file, merge everything new with it after fixes, upload it, and delete the old file, just so the number of packages stays small. Does anyone object to this method or have any better ideas?

It's an all in one thing. I'll extract all the items, and make the clothing un-random and merge it with the file that has the (now disabled for maternity) bridesmaid dresses and upload it in a bit. Anyone who actually wants the world, is strongly advised to decrapify and ignore my method entirely as package file worlds don't work so well.

The world's okay. It has a lot of campground lots, and lots of the parks are "unincorporated", that is to say they don't have edges and look like they're built into the landscape. There are some cute houses too.

The color of the beaches...is actually my biggest problem with it, it's ugly as hell.

Actually the whole point is that you have go sucker a non-cheapass friend into buying SimPoints through your referral link. If it all works as it should, you will both get one of the outfits, and you as the referrer will get 'free Simpoints' (they don't say how many, so it's probably going to be something laughable like 50 points...)
I think it has to be their first bundle, though, for you to get any of the sets.

Problem with Barnacle Bay... I cannot install it in launcher. I decrapyfied *.sims3pack, put it into downloads folder and installed through launcher and then closed it. But when I launched that stupid launcher again, Barnacle Bay wasn't installed and it isn't in game. What did they do with that tool of E(A)vil? I can't install any of *.sims3packs...

I have been bypassing the launcher for many moon now, I just use the packages system right now and actually it works out well, I put my packages in The Sims 3 folder under My Computer, and use the one under My Documents for hacks/mods/etc, I don't even think I use the launcher for anything but starting the game and deleting accidentally taken photos.

P.S. Does anyone have the new world in a .package format?

AFAIK, the only way to do it is using the decrapify tool. Not sure if legally purchased store items will install in S3P form without being decrapified or not.

I don't know if this will help, but the first time I tried installing Barnacle Bay (after decrapifying it), it acted like it wasn't decrapified (so EA message telling that it was installed but no symbol next to it in the launcher showing that it was indeed installed). So I re-decrapified it, and this time it worked!

Which means I haven't even installed it yet while I was calling you out. Can you guess what happened after I decrapped it and installed it through the installer? It worked, that;s what.

I decrapified Barnacle Bay and installed no problems at all. I can't imagine why some have problems with this, it's too easy.

I don't decrapify items I have bought from the store, only the items I get here. Everything installs fine and shows up fine.

I am having similar issues, with a BB .package in my mods folder, ok please tell me if I am doing this right..

First I get the S3P file and run it through the compressor, next I move the file to a folder and use delphys multi extractor installer and have all the files go into another folder,  next I use s3pe and create a new project,  then import all the files as a .package, then check the compress button, next I let them import and save the entire thing as a .package.

Am I missing a step?

Decrapified Barnacle Bay is not behaving properly.

Worlds don't work in package format.

It sounds right. But my question is: if you know how to decrapify why are you still using package files? That was only a temporary fix to the update that borked the installer from installing pirated store packs. And I think what everyone who is packaging BB is forgetting is that you have to manually add the .world file to your installed worlds folder, just like with riverview. Or something like that.

They do actually. It's just annoying to work with, and you need to drop them in the same folder than Sunset Valley is installed in. After changing the file extension from .package to .world.

Thats a good question, we can now install with the launcher again, because when I do it now it never shows up in the game.

Thanks for letting me know. I haven't used package files on the store stuff in a very long time. Besides, that sounds like a very tedious and time consuming way to do it...and probably not a good method for some of the moronic lifeforms that show up here crying.

The other problem with that method is how every name is displayed. They look something like like: Game/TS3/Worlds/Riverview/Sims/Don /Game/TS3/Worlds/Riverview/Sims/Lothlario.

Looks like that for every sim, lot, ect. Which is why decrapifying is better if you want the world instead of just the special stuff in the world. But, there's other quirks with decrapifying that one might prefer package format for. Such as: If you share decorated lots/sims. If you use crapified content, everyone can use your stuff. People who decrapify, just decrapify your files. If you use decrapified stuff, you can't share with anyone who doesn't also use decrapified content. This is probably why some MTS2 sims were pulled a while ago. Also. Decrapified stuff packages itself with your lots, which makes lot sizes larger than needed, and can result in duplicated content.

Unless there's a reverse decrapify method I'm unaware of anyway.

That's a moot point for me. I don't share sims or lots or anything like that. I have no interest in doing so. I play the game so that I can spend time in a pointless and mindless manner for a little while before getting back into the tediousness of RL.

Decrapify is simple. Download file. Compress file. Decrapify file. Install file. Continue repeating last 3 steps until it works.

Other method is: Download file. Compress file. Extract file. Figure out what package is what. Drop world file in with Sunset Valley after changing it to .world. Merge other packages with whatever store packages you already have.

2nd method always works the first time in my experience, unless you merge things wrong. But it requires knowledge of S3PE, which might stump the lazy, or the incompetent.

(After compressor) ok I found out I was completely using the wrong tool for decrapifiy, but when I use decrapifiy.exe do I just put the sims3pack in the folder with it and then run it?

Decrapify it properly, then double click it, the in game installer will install, then play the game. It's not hard. Now remember, don't fuck it up and you might have to sign up to see it.

Follow instructions there. If you are still having trouble with the .world file showing up, then take the world file from the InstalledWorlds(even if it isn't showing up it is probable that it did install), go into your Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\GameData\Shared\NonPackaged\Worlds and drop the .world file in there.

Well we do still need the 2 new bundle sets but how to get them is the Q lol, I think a person can get them without a refer but no idea if you also get the points free. I do wonder if we will get another bundle gifts for october or if this one will count as the bundle gifts for october.

How it works is that someone with a registered account (A) gives a referral link to another person with a registered account (B) who has never bought SimPoints before. B then buys a point bundle of $10 (to get the Quarterback/Cheerleader set) or $20 (to get the Divalicious set) and the set shows up in both A and B's account histories to download. A also gets a bonus of 100 SimPoints (for the $10 bundle) or 300 SimPoints (for the $20 bundle). Then A has to refer another person who has never bought SimPoints in order to get the other set. It's really quite ridiculous.

I'm probably just an idiot, but Barnacle Bay's icon isn't showing up for me in the launcher. I always decrapify before I move it to the downloads folder. Anyway, whenever any item doesn't show up, there is always an error when I download and it says it failed to install, and it says to be sure that the game is up to date. I know an outdated game isn't my problem because it isn't outdated..

Does anybody know what causes this iconlessness? It isn't blank completely, but it does show a box. I'm not sure how to get rid of that, or how to get Barnacle to work in my game. I'm kind of pissed because I read that the Caliente sisters would be in the new neighborhood, so it was probably worth checking out. I'm probably a disgrace when it comes to pirating, but I do have my share of experiences and I have read up about a lot (such as decrapifying) on MATY.

By "icon", do you mean "thumbnail"?

If so, sometimes decrapifying will keep the thumbnail from displaying in the launcher.  If Barnacle Bay shows up on your main menu as an available neighborhood to play, it's installed correctly, regardless of what the launcher might be doing.

Try decrapifying it again. Make sure you are decrapifying properly. It does work.

You do have to be patched all the way up to the most recent patch before you can install BB.  You are patched, right?

Edit/ This is really marvelous. I've tried another decrapifying method that I've found (and surprise!- it is the right way) and it's now working and the thumbnail is showing up. I recommend the Compressorizer Redux method to anybody who was having the problem I had.

There is really no difference what so ever between redux and just using the decrapifier from here and the method linked here before, by myself or others, except for a shiny screen. Is it possible that your decrapifier.exe was old?

Honestly, it is more likely that I was just doing it wrong to begin with.

I had the newest version of decrapifier installed. It was the one I used with the compressor.

I have found that I haven't made any mistakes since I started using the .cmd file and letting the compressor and decrapifier run on auto. Before, I had been forgetting which file I was on when doing large batches, or having to split the batch into smaller portions. Have you ever made a s3rcBatch.cmd file? The instructions for that was in the link I posted a few posts back. If Dedux is working for you though, I suppose it doesn't matter.

I actually did have a .cmd file made, but I wasn't using it when I was "decrapifying". For some reason I was under the impression that I didn't need it.

Finally got working BBay in my game. Not worth 16 bucks. Does someone have reff. items?

The .cmd is the only way I can install compressed/decrapified Sims3Packs. Put it all in a folder and the S3Ps, double click the .cmd and success. Very easy.



I may be wrong, but when I used Aikea's edits on decrapified Store items, they do not work in my game. The mesh is missing and leave the sim without a body or missing a scalp.

Once an item is decrapified, TS3 treats it as an entirely new and different item from the original file, so mods for the original crapified file probably aren't going to work.

Try decrapifying Aikea's edited package and putting it in a override folder.

I'm so technically challenged that I have been afraid to try the decrapifier, instead I have just waited until someone decrapified the files and then posted them.  I saw this message yesterday and decided to give it a try.  Wow!!!  Thank you so much.  It was as easy as you said it would be!  Oh, and it worked...

But what ever you do, DO NOT decrapify package files that are not store related!

I just have a quick question. Normally I just install store cc as .packages so I've never messed with decrapify before, but since I want Barnacle Bay to show up properly, I'm planning to do it for just that one file. I did some searching and found instructions on how to decrapify, but I'm curious about the part where it says to decrapify the save files, presets, etc. and I'm wondering if it's necessary in my case? It wasn't mentioned in all the tutorials I found, and when it was, it wasn't explained very clearly why you had to do it or if you had to in all cases. I don't have any other store cc that's not in .package form and I don't plan on installing anything other than neighborhoods in Sims3Pack form in the future.

If you are only installing Barnacle Bay, then you do not need to decrapify your saves, library and saved sims or userpresets.package . You only need to do this is you are changing from un-decrapified store stuff to decrapified store stuff as this fixes the missing object/clothes/hair problems.
I will update my tutorial to make this more clear to people.

Not understanding the override folder, haven't seen anything in search. Maybe I missed it.

When you organize your packages under Mods, you can choose to create an Override folder with a priority higher than the folder with the normal packages. Just search resource.cfg.

Basically make a new folder in your The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder called Overrides and open you resource.cfg and add this line to the top:

Priority 501
PackedFile Packages/Overrides/*.package

This will make the packages in the overrides folder, override the store objects in .dbc or any other content.
I can remember reading about it some where (MTS maybe).

ok I put the file in the same folder as decrapify.exe and dragged it over the .exe and then dragged it into the window, then installed the world and it is now working 100% thanks so much MATY friends!

Does anybody actually want Barnacle Bay in a package/world file? I would be happy to try doing it, but I wouldn't know if it worked.

Ok something weird just happened..

I started playing BBay last night. I installed it via the launcher after decrapifying with Compressorizer Redux. I have done this with all store content with great success. Anyway, Last night, I saved a BBay game using 'Save As' and then quit the game. Tonight I started that saved game back up and everything seemed fine. After some decorating I saved the game. Before it finished saving the game crashed. There was no warning at all.. it just completely disappeared instantly.. just gone in a second. My computer was fine and it seemed like I never even had the game running just a second ago. Ok I've seen this once in a blue moon and usually it's no big deal. The weird thing is that when I restarted the game and went to reload the BBay saved game it was completely gone. I checked in my saves folder and it's not there either. All my other saves are fine.

I have no idea why this happened. I wonder if it happened cause it crashed while it was saving or if it's a new way EA is trying to defeat the pirrrrrates.. lol ::)

Suck it up.  If you want Barnacle Bay, you're going to either have to pay for it or put on your Big Kid Pants and learn how to decrapify.  Trust me when I tell you, A) It really is not worth the amount you'd have to pay to get the Simpoints for it; and B) the steps you'd have to take to make a .package world work in your game are more complicated than simply decrapifying the damn thing and installing it.

Decrapifying is way too easy. I did the text thing and all i need to do is put the 3 files and the sims stuff and thats it, in second I have funtional stuff.

Well, I'm bored and I feel like being useful. So I'm going to upload a decrapified, working Barnacle Bay for anybody who is hesitant to make it work.

But I have to say, I don't understand the fear. I'd also like to say that you can't expect a nice person like me to hold your hand every time you want to pirate something. With that said, in about ten minutes I'll have a working Mediafire link for you that has a decrapified Barnacle Bay.

I'll feel good when I know it's useful to somebody.  :)

You're not supposed to share decrapified files. Pescado said not to do it and it's been repeated over and over, yet people still do it. Decrapifying is really, really easy. I did if for the first time tonight and it took like a minute. Way easier than converting to .package files, which is also pretty simple.

I wasn't aware, but I'll take it down in an instant if I get asked to.

Until then, we should let the tards enjoy their easy way out.  :)

So how many times shall it be said NOT TO SHARE DECRAPPIFIED SIMS3PACKs OVER THE NET? It's very easy to do it yourself, not to mention even if you have to figure it out by trial and error you really can't fuck anything up. Just try it atleast, really what's so hard? Don't be so lazy. Like I posted before I wrote a tutorial for it for noobs that can't google or figure things out on their own. Honestly, I have no clue. People just say not to. On a different forum I frequent I've shared stuff with people and for some it works and for others it doesn't. So if anything I think it's just easier to say do it yourself than to try to explain to people that it may or may not work, you might have to do it yourself. IDK.

I feel like it makes the whole idea "more illegal" and "more likely to be caught".. There has to be a reason that Pescado doesn't want people to post decrapified files, other than because lazy people don't deserve them. I'm playing it safe. I deleted the Mediafire file.

Pescado doesn't seem like he'd make up a rule against sharing decrapified files for reasons as childish and arbitrary as "so people won't be lazy". If anything, it could replace all the other Barnacle Bay links and that one simply used as the primary download.

It's NOT hard to decrapify, but if someone has been kind enough to do it and post a link, why make people take an extra step, just because someone "feels" like it? I assumed he was above that.

"So people won't be lazy" IS a valid reason.  MATY doesn't enable weakness and laziness, but encourages people to be self-sufficient.  If people don't like MATY's take on things, they are more than welcome to go elsewhere.

But I definitely agree that if people have things handed to them, they'll never learn for themselves. Decrapifying is almost effortless.
