Title: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: Anach on 2010 June 01, 16:59:44 Quote Game Update for 1.12/2.7/3.3 'POSTED ON 05/28/10 05:34 PM To install this update, please start your game and use the "Updates" tab in your Launcher. This game update includes: * This game update enables dynamic ad serving capabilities in The Sims 3. However, there are no immediate plans to activate any content of this kind. The Sims 3 EULA has further details. See http://www.ea.com/1/product-eulas. * Lights placed on residential and community lots will now properly display onto the neighborhood * Sims may now walk and stand on bridges * Players who play The Sims 3 with game modifications can now create a folder in which to place their game modifications. The folder should be located here: C:\Documents and Settings\YourComputer\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods * When Mods are placed in the official Mod folder, a notification will appear to remind players that Mods are installed. * Placing Mod packages into the Mod folder is an officially sanctioned way to bypass assembly signing verification. The Resource.cfg file must be placed in this folder in order for the modifications to work correctly. * When Mods are installed that are incompatible, the player will receive a message notifying them of the error. * Additional bug fixes to existing features Edit Town Mode * Players may now add, delete, and move residential and community lots from the Edit Town menu * Players may now add, delete, and move neighborhood decorative objects from the Edit Town menu * Players may now purchase and upgrade neighborhood community lots using the new Real Estate system via the Computer * When using the Library in Edit Town, lots will now display their venue type (i.e. Park) Gameplay Changes * Story Progression has been improved to prevent Sims required to complete Opportunities from changing. * Sim genetics have been improved so that children now better reflect their parents' skin tone and hairstyles. * Sims can unlock outfit choices and share them with household members when using the "Plan Outfit" interaction on the Dresser. Build/Buy Mode * Players may now use Create a Style on Ceilings or add and delete them when in Build Mode * Players may now use Create a Style on the edges of floor tiles * When placing walls, rooms, foundations/decks, floor tiles, roofs, pools, fences, and basements the measuring tape tool will display to aid in more precise building. * Wall Covering sets can now be found in a tab in Build Mode * Players may now manipulate the roof pitch for individual roof sections when in Build Mode * Sculptures can be found in a new Sculpture sorting category when in Buy Mode Create a Sim * Players may now use the Tattoo feature to customize Sims when in Create a Sim * Players may now select the Fiancé, Girlfriend, and Boyfriend relationship settings when in Create a Sim UI & Controls * The user-interfaces for Sim View and Map View have been merged to provide more control and consistency between the two modes. * The Opportunity interface has been improved to clearly outline the fiction, gameplay objectives, rewards, and Opportunity location for all Opportunities and Adventures. World Adventures * Certain Adventures and Opportunities will properly display in the Opportunities Panel when traveling between worlds BASE: http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_1.12.70.006001_from_1.11.7.005001.exe http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_1.12.70.006002_from_1.11.7.005002.exe http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_1.12.70.006003_from_1.11.7.005003.exe http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_1.12.70.006005_from_1.11.7.005005.exe http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_1.12.70.0060017_from_1.11.7.0050017.exe WA: http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_2.7.7.006001_from_2.6.11.005001.exe http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_2.7.7.006002_from_2.6.11.005002.exe http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_2.7.7.006003_from_2.6.11.005003.exe http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_2.7.7.006005_from_2.6.11.005005.exe http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_2.7.7.006017_from_2.6.11.005017.exe HELS: http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_3.3.11.006001_from_3.2.8.005001.exe http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_3.3.11.006017_from_3.2.8.005017.exe Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12.70 Patch Post by: Roobs on 2010 June 01, 17:11:02 http://www.thesims3.com/community/news.html?selMonth=4&selYear=2010#920859580
They finally fixed the lights? Say it ain't so! Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12.70 Patch Post by: Druscylla on 2010 June 01, 17:18:59 And they finally added the dynamic ad serving. We knew that was coming.
Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12.70 Patch Post by: Anach on 2010 June 01, 17:20:43 I don't know the full version numbers of the other patches for WA and HELS, so I couldn't post them here yet.
Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12.70 Patch Post by: Drakron on 2010 June 01, 17:24:37 They changed the launcher, its MUCH MUCH MUCH FASTER on scrolling now, also not installed items are put at the top.
Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12.70 Patch Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 17:25:43 When Mods are installed that are incompatible, the player will receive a message notifying them of the error.
Huh. Does this seriously mean that the game is now fully funcitoning with mods(as in, the game "supports" them), to the extent where it will indeed tell us when X won't work with Y? That's pretty awesome. Installing it now. Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12.70 Patch Post by: Alwayswatching on 2010 June 01, 17:27:40 Does this mean AwesomeMod will have to be installed in that folder instead of where it normally is?
Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12.70 Patch Post by: Anach on 2010 June 01, 17:29:14 When Mods are installed that are incompatible, the player will receive a message notifying them of the error. Huh. Does this seriously mean that the game is now fully funcitoning with mods(as in, the game "supports" them), to the extent where it will indeed tell us when X won't work with Y? That's pretty awesome. Installing it now. It told me right away that some mods (AM) were out of date. Quite cool actually. I can't see it working very well for most mods, especially XML tweaks. How would it know? Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12.70 Patch Post by: brownlustgirl on 2010 June 01, 17:29:31 Sheesh, I don't need ambitions now. I was most interested in the lot editor and the fixes. I am a little skeptical about the mods folder, I will not believe it's usefulness til I see it.
Sounds good, will wait on deciding on the executions. Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12.70 Patch Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 17:31:12 FDASHGLKAHSDF
forgive my orgasm but oh dear god Players may now use Create a Style on the edges of floor tiles AHHHHHHHHHHH Lights placed on residential and community lots will now properly display onto the neighborhood ;-; I...I... ;___________; I don't know what to say... ;____; FFFFFFFFFFFFFF Excitement destroyed. I'm getting the "Base game not compatible with latest installed expansion" error in the launcher, just from the latest patch...I really hope I don't have to reinstall... Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12.70 Patch Post by: uknortherner on 2010 June 01, 17:45:41 And they finally added the dynamic ad serving. We knew that was coming. Actually the code's always been there. I've stumbled across some XML references a few times when looking through the FullBuild packages. It looks like this patch merely updates it. Then again, if "there are no immediate plans to activate any content of this kind" as the patch notes state, then why update the code? I've paid for my game and I see no reason why I should be bombarded with ads in something I've paid for in full. The purpose of the new Mods folder, is that we no longer need the framework installed. Also mods like my "No Build/Buy/CAS Music" seem to work correctly once again, and finally the best part, there is a little custom content icon displayed on all custom content in build/buy modes. Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12.70 Patch Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 18:53:25 there is a little custom content icon displayed on all custom content in build/buy modes.
People can bitch about EA all they want but this patch has me more excited than the expansion itself. Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: uknortherner on 2010 June 01, 19:18:43 Now they just need to go one step further and add the ability to delete CC in-game.
Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: blackcat on 2010 June 01, 19:26:50 Am I missing something or you really can move only empty lots around?
Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 19:28:19 Well, moving full lots around would cause major issues with landscaping. Moving empty lots lets you use non-traditional sizes in different places rather than being stuck with the preset sizes and only the preset sizes.
Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: blackcat on 2010 June 01, 19:34:41 Well, I can think of a workaround. Save lot in a bin, bulldoze, move empty lot, place lot from the bin. Won't work with occupied lots, though.
Also, is there a way to move things up and down on z-axis? All trees have this "root" area beneath them. Looks strange. Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 19:37:31 Ouch, that area is supposed to be below the "base" of the object. As in, below the part that actually touches the ground- that way things placed on slopes won't have gaps beneath them. If it's placing them with the root visible, it seems to be set up improperly!
Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: Menaceman on 2010 June 01, 19:49:51 I sooo want to update my game with this patch but I'm gonna hold off until an updated AM is released and until I get the actual game which hopefully will be this weekend.
Do we know yet if the new patch, no matter how brilliant it is, has borked installing decrapified store content or not? Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 19:57:22 Well, I managed to reinstall and patch fully every time, but wasn't really thinking about it- I have no way of determining if the game is running properly, because I can't use awesomemod to bypass CD checks, the game doesn't seem to accept a mounted iso as a CD being in the drive, and there are likely no cracks for this patch yet!

However, there are no immediate plans to activate any content of this kind. Is this the same thing they were supposedly going to do in the base game, but decided against it? Companies are going to pay EA to advertise in the game. Which company would want to advertise in the game if players could just turn the ads off and never see them? Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: jennnw on 2010 June 01, 20:16:00 Non of my "body slider" mods are working with the new patch. Anyone else experiencing this?

This with no mods installed. I just gave it a try too (would've had to update tomorrow anyway). No mods or anything. The lights are still broken as blackcat says. Lights do not radiate beyond lot limits or up walls. EA are basically talking out of their arses. Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: Menaceman on 2010 June 01, 20:59:39 The same advertisers who advertise ONLINE where people can turn off their ads and not see them. Though I dont know where they'd put ads in-game anyway, The theatre is designed to have movie posters appear on the four poster slots closest to the theatre doors. Then there are the billboards dotted around the towns which could potentially show ads as well. Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: Anach on 2010 June 01, 21:00:07 All the sliders work for me and I have most of them. Looks like the lights still do NOT work. Sliders are all working for me too. Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: YoungOldPrude on 2010 June 01, 21:10:56 The same advertisers who advertise ONLINE where people can turn off their ads and not see them. Though I dont know where they'd put ads in-game anyway, I remember seeing a screenshot from a fan-event pre-Base Game release. I saved it—I think. I'll take a look. Edit: It's a shot of the bench that sits against the wall of the grocery store. Behind the wall is a poster advertising Ford. Beyond the Ford logo and the image of a truck, the only other things I can make out are the words "Drive One", a website address, and the word "FLEX". Make of that what you will. And Menaceman is quite right. The billboards and the theater are excellent victims for the evil ads. So is the stadium…which is not a happy thought, as those ads would be humongous. Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 21:15:52 Oh, I see. I don't mind ads like that in other games, but in a game set in a world like but unlike our own and in a country with a native language that is most certainly not english? No thanks.
Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: dantethedark on 2010 June 01, 21:17:44 So how do we install and get our mods working now?
Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: Roobs on 2010 June 01, 21:20:46 My understanding was that the functionality has always been present, but only fake Simlish adverts are fed into the system (as opposed to the functionality being completely removed and Simlish ad textures applied to the rabbitholes and billboards)?
Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: ShortyBoo on 2010 June 01, 21:42:12 Ads really have no business in a game that isn't free. And if the ads are in English, they'll look way out of place.
So do we put all our cc in the My Docs/Mods folder now? I like that our cc will have icons now, but it would have been much nicer if we were able to delete cc from in game. I have stuff I don't want, but I have no idea how to find the actual file. Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: IAmTheRad on 2010 June 01, 21:53:37 I hope the ads won't be mandatory when they implement them, or if there'll be a way to hide them. Awesomemod maybe will be able to block them when they're implemented.
Opt-out is what some companies do. But EA is greedy for money, and probably won't have that as an option Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: YoungOldPrude on 2010 June 01, 22:03:33 I hope the ads won't be mandatory when they implement them, or if there'll be a way to hide them. Now I'm crashing once I pick the family I wish to play. I can't figure out what is happening now... You probably have a mod that isn't compatible with the game version. The sliders themselves are pretty much universal, but hacks to remove the number of sliders limit are version-specific and need to be updated or removed until an update is available.Using ellipses in the place of periods can also sometimes cause random crashes. Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: IAmTheRad on 2010 June 01, 23:03:16 I moved all my stuff to the Mods directory, and sorted it by packages (a folder) and by dbcs (another folder in the mods directory).

Probably, you need to get the address it's requesting the file from, and create a new line at the hosts files to redirect the request address to a speficied one. But you would need to see how the request is handle from the server-to-client, like if it would return a image for example. It probably uses the GET method, so, using that we are able to do whatever we want with it. WALL DRUG (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wall_Drug)!Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: jwaas on 2010 June 02, 18:43:34 For what it's worth, I made the 1.12 patch without installing Ambitions (although I have it) because I wanted to see how different the patch made things, and what it took to get a stable game. This is base game only, no AwesomeMod. Now that twallan updated his SuperComputer in record time, and Buzzler seems to have done the same with his mirror (though I haven't run the game yet since installing the updated mirror), it seems I've brought my One Fambly from pre-patch to post-patch without problems. This gives me some hope that I can bring them past the EP2 installation successfully.
I have noticed the following differences, stubbornly continuing on with my research into the unmodded story mode: 1. The story mode now seems very aggressive about moving new famblies into town. Until just recently, the game seemed most interested in emptying the town as soon as possible. But now I get at least one newspaper article per day about some new household moving into town. I anticipate that if I put houses on some of the empty lots, this behavior would only escalate. 2. Certain objects (the exercise machines at any rate) suddenly seem pickier about placement. I ordered one of my Sims to use the treadmill, and he complained that he couldn't reach it. When I picked it up in Buy/Build mode, it snapped out of place immediately, as though it had been placed by moveobjects. I was not allowed to place it in ways that would most certainly have been allowed before the patch. Once I found a permissible location, my Sim was able to use the treadmill. 3. There are two new items in my Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 folder: a file called "tslus.bin," and a folder called "IGACache" containing the following three files: "radial.cdb," "radial.scb," and "radial.tdb." I am guessing that these are things that the EP will make use of. 4. As I expected, I had to leave my mods in their original location. 5. The tweak to Sims3.ini that allows Sims to walk through each other, absolutely did not work after patching. The game loaded, but I had mousefail along with everything being frozen except for the plumbbob. It is possible I did it wrong, but I don't think so. 6. Some simple and ancient mods that I consider essential, such as no-censor and no-intro, still work in their base game versions. I anticipate that they will no longer work after installing EP2, even though I don't plan on reinstalling EP1 along with it. I've just added a few of Anach's mods too, so I'll see whether the result is stable before installing EP2. I'm a bit worried, particularly about the game logging (mine was on by default, and I had already played a bit before discovering this) and about some of the other bugs I'm reading about here (I think it's 100% certain that there will be another patch within a week, as others have warned me), but I have the EP and there's no turning back now. Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: Anach on 2010 June 02, 19:32:59 The no-intro mod works fine with ambitions. Nothing changed there.
For de-censor I use http://ts3.tscexchange.com/index.php?topic=1784.0 If you want to move your mods to your Documents/EA/Sims 3/Mods folder then you will need to put your resource.cfg in the new mods folder, and edit the path of the various lines to say "PackedFile Packages/*.package" instead of "PackedFile Mods/Packages/*.package" Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: nanisim on 2010 June 02, 20:53:10 Desperate calling: Anybody knows what it means?
type: ACCESS_VIOLATION writing address 0x1e458ff0 address: 0x1e458ff0 <unknown module> This is what I only get after repeated crashes with the infamous patch. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game thousand times and its impossible to play at all. :'( Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: Tangie on 2010 June 02, 21:18:13 Did you previously mess with your Windows DEP settings? If so, you might need to add EP02 to your list of files that DEP will ignore. At first I had crashing every time I tried to enter a lot, but doing this stopped my crashing.

I've added the sims to the list in DEP and now it works!!! Title: WA ground texture missing after patch? Post by: Goggalor on 2010 June 05, 14:11:01 After patching I noticed that all WA ground painting textures have gone missing from lots. They are still in the catalogue though.
In a fresh started neighbourhood for example, the France museum lot look like this in world view: (http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r427/Goggalor_Pics/Sims3/th_37b73d92.jpg) (http://s354.photobucket.com/albums/r427/Goggalor_Pics/Sims3/?action=view¤t=37b73d92.jpg) When I enter the lot: (http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r427/Goggalor_Pics/Sims3/th_fc8402e1.jpg) (http://s354.photobucket.com/albums/r427/Goggalor_Pics/Sims3/?action=view¤t=fc8402e1.jpg) I first noticed this on a lot I had built that had both textures from base game and WA. The base game ones were still there, but not the WA ones. Has this happened to anyone else? Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: Clara on 2010 June 05, 14:18:29 It's happening to me too. I noticed last night in a custom world that uses WA paints and I emailed the creator, who confirmed the same problem. I didn't realize it extended to the actual game worlds too. Something else to add to the patch for the patch.
Title: Re: Those looking for the 1.12/2.7/3.3 Patches Post by: ElectricSimmer on 2010 June 05, 14:35:48 I'm getting that too. It really sucks because it just makes the game seem even MORE unfinished.
