Title: Game Shit Itself And Died
Post by: Ichigo on 2010 April 03, 19:24:45
My computer's been a little stupid lately, but I haven't made any drastic changes to it or even downloaded anything. I'm only running Awesome.

So I decided to reinstall Awesome. When I right click the monkey, it goes "InstallMonkey.exe has encountered an error and needs to close" and says something about the dll32. Fanfuckingtastic. So I'm thinking I'll just start it up anyhow, but then it says "Sims3Launcher.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close". Once more, it throws that cunting dll32 in my face again. What the cock? ???

I'm making quite the leap in logic, but whenever I do a search for anything, be it on Bing, Google, Yahoo!, it flickers a bit and then takes me to some random link I didn't even select. So TS3 isn't the only thing getting mangled.

FUCK ME SENSELESS! RegCure didn't fix it, so how do I?

Sounds like the effects of a malware infection - the broswer hijacking especially.  How up to date is your virus protection software and when was the last time you scanned?

I found it, but how do I fix it?

You use the spyware or virus program that found it.  ???!
Also, delete your internet cache and any afflicted windows backups.

What program are you using?  If you don't already have it, download Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/). It's a very effective removal tool, and if whatever you have isn't cleaning the problem, it probably will.  I'd scan with it anyways, just in case it catches something the other program missed.

So I ran Malwarebytes and deleted the numerous problems, but it still throws errors at me. Microsuck Security Essentials is at least recognizing the trojan now. What else can I do?  :-\

If it is recognizing the trojan, and you have the trojan's name, then google the removal steps.

If nothing else you could pull out that trusty disk that came with your computer and do a complete restoration.  A long drawn out process to be sure, but very effective in eliminating viruses.  Let this be a lesson to you kiddies, wear a condom!

It seems that trojan also adds registry entries, look for a malaware removal tool that can fully remove it.

I use Avast! but I am unsure if it can fully remove it.

That would be why they were suggested to use malwarebytes. Thank you, for once again posting the exact same thing that was mentioned earlier in the thread.

Spank all of you, BAAA and all that, because it's running and my computer's a mite less shitty. Avast! is God.

They can get them, but they are much more rare (though getting more frequent now due to increased users) and the machines from the last two or three years with dedicated graphics cards work fine for The Sims 3 and earlier. If the user doesn't play anything else, your statement becomes invalid. I agree that they are shit for high-end gaming, but while TS3 is a resource hog and poorly optimized, it isn't exactly high-end either.

Rohina, stop crapping over the serious threads, 'mkay?

If you're really THAT enamoured with my picture... maybe you should shrink it and make it your avatar.

Sorry, whut? Rohina is the one crapping on the 'serious threads?' You're the one unhelpfully fangurling about Mac when it's not relevant to the topic in hand.

God, remember those Mac commercials that implied that Mac users were retarded?  "I bought a PC, and it was all HARD and stuff!  There were WIRES and PLUGS and you had to PUT IT TOGETHER and insert a DISC!  Then I bought a Mac, and it was ready to go out of the box!  Mac:  so easy, even someone as infomercial-helpless as me can use it!"  Those commercials usually ended with the Mac user going outside and staring up at the rain until he drowned.

Don't be a pesticle, the MAC ads of course.

He does not appear to be listening.  Perhaps he was sucked into the nose as well.

It's such an impressive nose.  It's like she's growing a third boob.

I can't find the commercials, but I remember seeing them on television in the mid-90's.  This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eh660kYPsYw&feature=PlayList&p=D4B74CA8243FEA0B&playnext_from=PL&playnext=1&index=49) is like the precursor to them, but the ones I remember had testimonial actors.

Perhaps these are the commercials of which you are thinking?: http://www.mac-history.net/mac/2008-06-15/the-spots-of-the-switching-to-mac-campaign (http://www.mac-history.net/mac/2008-06-15/the-spots-of-the-switching-to-mac-campaign)

And then there is this one, demonstrating the difficulty of all those wires and parts: http://www.mac-history.net/imac/2008-06-15/apple-imac-g3-simplicity-shootout (http://www.mac-history.net/imac/2008-06-15/apple-imac-g3-simplicity-shootout)

YES!  Thank you!  I loved Apple's "our users are lazy and stupid" ad campaign!  I remember when they first came out, I was confused that THIS was the angle they wanted to approach it from, by basically implying that Apple users were idiots with the attention span of a jellyfish.

Triffic!

Thirty minutes to open some boxes, plug in some wires and surf the net? Peanuts when you think of the upgradeability and hardware configurability aspects of a desktop PC. What a brilliantly lame ad.

Graphics people are still convinced Macs are better, despite the fact that Macs are now driven by Intel processors. Both types of computer have the same software, the only difference is the extortionate price of the Macs. Macs do have a pretty interface, I'll give them that, but who wants to buy a whole new overpriced computer every time they want to upgrade something?

Yeah, but don't forget you're also buying a whole lotta smug for those extra bucks. I can sit there, in a hip coffee shop and feel smug about my egg. Can yooooooou? Negativo. Notice also how I can use words like hip without looking like a moron. That's because I have a Mac. Instant cool irony points. Now, please excuse me for a minute, I must go and order a skinny mocha latte frappachino and fair trade cinnamon muffin to pose next to my Mac. Sadly there is no app for that... yet. Laters, droogs.

Given that the hardware of Macs and PCs is now the same, the real reason you pay more for the SAME DAMN COMPUTER is simply to pay for Apple's lock-in. Observe how if you try to run MacOS on a not-Mac, Apple will get butthurt, but if you try to run Windoze on a Mac, Microsoft doesn't care. On the other hand, Microsoft will hate you if you run Linux on their Xbox.
