Title: WA refuses to completely uninstall, please help
Post by: geminijd on 2010 February 20, 05:57:08
I am having several problems with my game.  I have TS3 and WA (legit copies, if that matters any).   I  patched my game up to 2.4.7. and now my game is not playable.  When the launcher opens, I get a message that says "Your Sims 3 base game is incompatable with the current Sims 3 Expansion pack. Please update the game via the launcher."  I disconnected the internet and unninstalled and reinstalled twice with no change, I received the same message, I also declined to install EADM.

I read about some files remaining after uninstalling, so I researched and found these instructions. I began to manually uninstall but did not find the Sims3 folder.  I did ,however, find the WA folder, which I deleted.  Does anyone know the folder name for WA or how I can find it, as found in #14 so that I may delete it as well?

I had the same thing happen, never found out why either. I just manually uninstalled the game.
Directions to manually uninstall.

Delete the registry keys:

1. Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder.
2. Expand the SOFTWARE folder.
3. Expand the Electronic Arts folder.
4. Expand the Sims folder.
5. Right-click The Sims 3 folder and select Delete.
6. Collapse the Electronic Arts folder.
7. Expand the Sims folder.
8. Right-click The Sims 3 folder and select Delete.
9. Collapse the Sims folder.
10. Expand the Microsoft folder.
11. Expand the Windows folder.
12. Expand the CurrentVersion folder.
13. Expand the Uninstall folder.
14. Delete the following folder if it appears:
• {C05D8CDB-417D-4335-A38C-A0659EDFD6B8}
11. Collapse the Microsoft folder.
12. Expand the Classes folder.
13. Delete the following folders if they appear:
• .Sims3
• .Sims3Pack
• Sims3
• Sims3Pack

I reinstalled and patched my game up to 2.4.7.

Your Sims 3 base game is incompatable with the current Sims 3 Expansion pack. Please update the game via the launcher.

Your logic is to disconnect from the internet, uninstall and reinstall twice and attempt it manually?

Once again:

Yes, I disconnected from the internet because I have never patched using the launcher and don't want to start.  The launcher will patch up to 2.5 which I do not want.  I reread and modified my original post:  I patched, and then when the game would not work I reinstalled. So, what is your point?

Read his thread (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,18002.0.html), especially reply #19.  I don't think files left behind from uninstalling are the problem, but just in case, here's the folder for WA as it appears in my registry:{BA26FFA5-6D47-47DB-BE56-34C357B5F8CC}
