Title: Patching issues... *[solved]* Post by: jcgurango on 2010 February 07, 06:12:06 Okay, this patching bullshit... Let's call it bull dandruff... This patching bulldandruff has been driving me nuts. I don't get frustrated very easily, but patching this game has been the most ridiculous waste of time... ever. Now I know exactly what to do, I've read my rtpatch.log, it says code_version.txt is what's wrong. I copied it from the CD, and still nothing. I was wondering if anyone had a copy that would work? Yes, I realize I'm pretty late... I have not updated my sims 3... at all. It's still at version 1.0.631.00107
P.S. - Yes, I did register just to ask this question. Title: Re: Patching issues... Post by: Skadi on 2010 February 07, 06:43:46 Are you auto patching or manually downloading them? You need to manually download the patch ending in 7 which will match your region (digital download). You can manually download them here: http://www.simprograms.com/the-sims-3-patches/patches-the-sims-3/
Also, shit is not a bad word here. Title: Re: Patching issues... Post by: jcgurango on 2010 February 07, 06:49:50 Are you auto patching or manually downloading them? There's only 1.0.631.00001 and 1.0.631.00002, I have 1.0.631.00107... Title: Re: Patching issues... Post by: Skadi on 2010 February 07, 06:54:28 Did you say you were running from a CD? Legit version?
[Also, on this site, it's okay to say it's not legit. In face it is preferred.] Title: Re: Patching issues... Post by: jcgurango on 2010 February 07, 07:04:49 Did you say you were running from a CD? Legit version? [Also, on this site, it's okay to say it's not legit. In face it is preferred.] I downloaded the Reloaded version torrent and mounted it with daemon tools. So, it's not legit (I'm starting to like MATY) Title: Re: Patching issues... Post by: jcgurango on 2010 February 07, 07:38:01 oh, btw, I tried the patch that comes with World Adventures by going into the "Support/Updates" folder. And then I tried 1.4.6 patch from here (http://'http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Patching:Patch_Download#Patch_1.5.82_-_.28Patch_Notes.29'), both didn't work... They came up with the same error about "code_version.txt" being invalid.
Title: Re: Patching issues... Post by: Skadi on 2010 February 07, 08:09:52 Okay, so you need to make some changes to your registry: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15590.msg447823.html#msg447823
Change it to 2, and the use the 2 patch. Also, just a quick note, double posting is frowned upon. If you modify your post, it will still flag it as something has changed - no need to bump. Title: Re: Patching issues... Post by: jcgurango on 2010 February 07, 09:55:30 Just downloaded the patch, did what you said, and patched it. But I still get the "Invalid File Found" error for "code_version.txt"

Title: Re: Patching issues... Post by: jcgurango on 2010 February 08, 04:06:00 Okay, I got that fixed by downloading this torrent (http://"http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4953747/Sims_3_-_Retail_Patch_%28RELOADED_to_full_retail_patched%29_-_TBJ") and replacing all the files... Now it's saying that "fullbuild0.package" (and I can only guess the other packages) is invalid... Anyone else having the same problem?
Edit: The Torrent didn't have a replacement for the files in "GameData/Shared/Packages/" Edit: I forgot to say that I also changed my registry settings to be region 2. Title: Re: Patching issues... Post by: Jonesi on 2010 February 08, 04:31:40 Replacing the files or uninstalling? You might be better downloading the RAZOR version and starting from scratch.

Damnit... Here we go again I guess. Title: Re: Patching issues... Post by: Invisigoth on 2010 February 09, 20:57:30 I think that this might be related to the problem that I was having earlier today because I'm pretty sure the error I had was invalid file found for code_version.txt. Unfortunately I wasn't paying a huge amount of attention to what the error messages actually said because I had a pretty good idea of what was actually wrong. My base game is region 1, and my WA is region 2. When I installed WA I changed the registry entry for my base game to region 2. I download my patches from simprograms.com. My base game is RZR1911 and my WA is Reloaded.
I updated WA to patch 2.4.7 today and then I tried to run the game and I got a message saying that my base game was still out of date. I checked the SKUversion.txt in EA/TS3/game/bin for the base game and it was still 1.8, so I downloaded the 1.9.22 patch for region 2, and I got that invalid file found error message. I noticed that the SKUversion.txt in game/bin for my base game is still set for region 1 (version number had .0001 at the end), so I downloaded the region 1 version of the 1.9 patch, and of course it told me that it was the wrong version, too. So, I edited my base game registry entry so that SKU said region 1 and ran the version 1.9.22.0001 patch. Everything worked perfectly, and I edited my registry again to change my base game region to 2 again. My game appears to be running normally now. Title: Re: Patching issues... Post by: Whako on 2010 February 09, 23:31:39 You got a bunch of things to do, to modify the reloaded version to a retail.
Here a walk-throug for the base game: 0. Complete game deinstall with EA Download-Manager and registry 1. Full install the Reload version 2. Run the sims3patch.exe, get it from http://all4tech.net/games/pcgames/page,1,3,160-the-sims-3-patch-up-reload-version-to-retail.html (http://all4tech.net/games/pcgames/page,1,3,160-the-sims-3-patch-up-reload-version-to-retail.html) 3. Change Zone Code from 7 to 2 under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE => SOFTWARE => SIMS => THE SIMS 3 => SKU 4. Overwrite files from "Patch Fix Files" in "C:\Programme\Electronic Arts\Die Sims 3\Game\Bin\HelpPages" and "C:\Programme\Electronic Arts\Die Sims 3\Game\Bin" (Sims3GDF.dll) (get it here: http://www.filefactory.com/file/b007101/n/PatchFixFiles.rar (http://www.filefactory.com/file/b007101/n/PatchFixFiles.rar)) Now you actually have a retail version. 5. Apply Sims3_1.6.6.002002_from_1.0.631.00002.exe update patch 6. Apply Sims3_1.7.9.002002_from_1.6.6.002002.exe update patch 7. Install all CC-Items BEFORE udating to 1.8 (all before HELS?!) 8. For using the Launcher to install further CC go to http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,17743.0.html (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,17743.0.html) an do exactly as it is written. 9. Apply "Sims3_1.8.25.003002_from_1.7.9.002002.exe" 10. Put AM in 11. Riverview does not show up?! Go use the SEARCH MOAR button. I did not patch further until now, so I do not know, what more there will be on my list. Edit due to many ESL errors and please, do use the "Thanks" button. Title: Re: Patching issues... Post by: jcgurango on 2010 February 10, 04:37:12 Yehey! Patches fine now! Thanks for all the help everyone.
Title: Re: Patching issues... Post by: Claeric on 2010 February 10, 04:39:50 Nevermind, figured it out. WA just goes after 1.8 and then it updates itself.
Title: Re: Patching issues... *[solved]* Post by: Death-Jester on 2010 February 10, 13:14:28 WA installed fine, no problems there. But the base game and HELS will not update. I got the patches that correspond to my region (2 for Base and WA, 1 for HELS). The base game gets to 97% and then stops with the message "Invalid File Found". The last file I see on the updater is TSLHost.dll HELS does exactly the same thing - 97%, "Invalid File Found" and TSLHost.dll being the last file. I have tried downloading a TSLHost.dll from MATY, but it didn't work. I also tried deleting the file, in the hopes that the updater would put it's own version in there when it updated, but it doesn't, it just gives a "File Not Found" message. Can anyone suggest a way of getting round this problem? Edit:: Ignore all of that :) I got the TSLHost.dll file from the ISO file and used that, patched no problems. Edit 2:: Damn! It worked fine for HELS, but the file from the base game DVD doesn't work. The only 'original' (ie non-cracked) TSLHost.dll file I have for the base game is from 1.2.7, which also doesn't work. Does anyone have an original file post-1.9 update, that you could upload for me? Title: Re: Patching issues... *[solved]* Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2010 February 10, 14:01:34 Try NOT INSTALLING DODGY FILES. Wipe it all, reinstall clean, and repatch. Quit fucking with the files.

Before I started using AM, the only way around the CD-check was to use a cracked .exe and .dll file. Strangely enough, all the previous updates have worked with these files, it's just the latest patch I've had trouble with. |
