When I try to install Sims3Packs with the Launcher (I'm on a Mac), sometimes Installer just decides not to open. It might bounce on the dock for a second (mocking me), but then disappears. I know something is happening because, though launcher doesn't appear to be "frozen", I cannot press any buttons. I could install things fine before I purchased World Adventures. I decided to start fresh and reinstall Sims3 then WA. I do not think the issue is with the files, because I got a few to install by stubbornly repeating the action (quit launcher - open file - nothing - quit launcher - open file - nothing - quit launcher - open file - installer opens - yay!).

I did a few searches and didn't see anything on this subject. I know there are a few Mac users on here that I hope can help. I do not have access to a windows machine so I have been relying on the kindness of strangers.

I haven't even played the game since my reinstall, so If I have to chuck it all and start from scratch I can.

Well, there's always percussive maintenance. Have you tried that?

The launcher never worked properly on my macbook. I've long since given up using it, and just use Jfade's 3viewer instead. Much more organized anyway.

i tried Jfade's thing but i cant get it to work lol

I'm not sure how you expect me to respond to that. Obviously it does work, since numerous people (including myself) use it to replace the launcher. If you elaborate on what "I can't get it to work" means, you're more likely to get an actual reply.

Incidentally, the shift key is a wonderful invention.

I was not trying to claim it did not work at all, merely that i am having trouble using it.
 How do i use it correctly? Do i just click on a pack and open it with the java app?

After you've downloaded 3viewer, open up the folder. Mac users double click on the Sims3PackViewer.jar file, Windows users the 3Viewer.exe file. (Windows need to have Java (http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp) installed.)

The program should open up. The first time it opens, I believe it asks you to choose the directory that you installed TS3 under. Once that's all taken care of, go to File>Open. Select the .sims3pack you want to install. Click the install button. Sometimes it asks me where I want it installed (can't remember if it does this on the macbook or not, haven't used it for awhile). If it does, just go to the Mods>Packages folder.

A .package file will show up there, usually with a long string of numbers as the file name. You can change this if you want.
