Title: Moving my game Post by: cristalfiona on 2005 November 24, 15:07:14 Ok, at the risk of getting burninated, I need some help:
My C: Drive on my laptop is nearly full, so I was thinking of moving my Sims 2 game to m D: Drive, but im not sure how to go about it and save all my current games. Can I just copy my entire EA Games folder to my D: Drive, or do I need to uninstall and reinstall, then move my old neighbourhood folders in? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks, Fiona Title: Re: Moving my game Post by: Myth on 2005 November 24, 15:44:56 Here's complete instructions with images. Title: Re: Moving my game Post by: cristalfiona on 2005 November 24, 15:46:06 I even have that site in my bookmarks at home- thats what I get for asking questions at work.
Thanks Myth Title: Re: Moving my game Post by: Myth on 2005 November 24, 15:47:43 No problem. It's a great site that deserves a bookmark.
Title: Re: Moving my game Post by: Renatus on 2005 November 24, 16:07:41 I'm glad you asked just so that link could be posted - I didn't actually know that the My Documents folder could be moved so easily with XP. (There goes my geek cred!) I'm really happy about this now, my C drive is awfully cramped but I still have all sorts of room on D. Woot!
Title: Re: Moving my game Post by: BlueSoup on 2005 November 24, 16:09:34 Hmmm...I never even heard of that site. I must remember to take a look at it later. :) Thanks for posting it, myth.
myth - you must be good. ;) Title: Re: Moving my game Post by: cristalfiona on 2005 November 24, 16:12:05 my C drive is awfully cramped but I still have all sorts of room on D. Woot! Thats why I asked- I've got about 1 mb left on my C: Drive, and less than that being used on the D, so I figured it might make my game run just that little bit faster. @ Bluesoup, its a good site, has a lot of useful info on it. Ive already used their tutorial on how to move to a new user account, am now kicking myself that I didnt think to look there. Title: Re: Moving my game Post by: miramis on 2005 November 24, 16:42:53 I hope the 1mb was a typo and meant to be 1GB, if it's not I'm surprised the game even runs. It should run better with more space on the other drive, windows overall may perform better.
Title: Re: Moving my game Post by: Ellie on 2005 November 24, 18:18:47 Can this be done with Windows2000? I didn't find any move-option there. Can I just move the folder manually?
Title: Re: Moving my game Post by: cristalfiona on 2005 November 24, 18:38:06 Yeah, i meant 1GB, was packing up to come home, so not thinking straight. Sometimes it barely runs as it is, which is why I need to do this. I checked, and my d drive is only using 180 kb. So lots of space :)
Title: Re: Moving my game Post by: Andygal on 2005 November 24, 18:42:28 how big are the drives?
Just being nosy. Title: Re: Moving my game Post by: Emma on 2005 November 24, 19:35:27 Here's complete instructions with images. (http://www.sims2techguide.net/article.php?p=1) Wow, thanks! I didn't even realise this could be done :) Title: Re: Moving my game Post by: cristalfiona on 2005 November 25, 13:14:17 @ Andygal, about 17GB each, i think. Not 100% sure, just wanted to be happy that my d drive was using nearly no space. And my entire my documents folder only takes up another 2 mb. But i fell asleep while it was transferring, so havnt played yet. Thats what i get for doing 4 12 hour days this week ;D
